It was probably an order from the leader. Even amidst the pain, it was to ensure Gahan followed the leader's orders and familiarized himself with the target's face.

Gahan silently raised his head and continued watching the news he had seen countless tis. After confirming Gahan's eyes were on the screen, the man stood straight and reported to Gahan.

"X and Siren have made contact."

"Betrayal?"

Every ti Gahan opened his mouth, the thorn wrapped around his neck slithered up, pricking his tender lips. Blood droplets ford on his lips. The blood slowly trickled down his firm jawline. The person, who had been staring at it, answered a beat late.

"We failed to ascertain."

Despite failing the task, he was quite shaless. He assud Gahan wouldn't dare scold him, and he was right.

Gahan rely fell into thought, not uttering a word of reproach. Whether Siren was a traitor or not was irrelevant.

"Dispose of them now."

"Yes."

Siren was no longer useful. They were ant to be disposed of long ago. They had kept soone who couldn't even scout a simple telepath for too long.

They had kept them around to avoid danger while hiding, but now that it was ti to spread Icarus's wings, they were unnecessary. The subordinate answered Gahan's command politely and vanished as quickly as they had appeared.

"Wow, can't even defy this."

Even though he heard the muttered words as they disappeared, Gahan remained still like a doll. It was as if they were treating Gahan, who unconditionally followed the leader's orders, as a spectacle.

A person who had received the leader's grace, soone with a weakness, soone who joined voluntarily, soone whose interests aligned… Icarus had various mbers, but Gahan didn't fit any of those categories.

He was already cut off from the outside world, with Icarus being his only aning of life. A scarecrow executive born from their hands, a high-destructive weapon. That was the essence of Gahan, the executive of Icarus. Because that was what the leader wanted.

Even after the subordinate disappeared, Gahan continued to bleed in the sa position for hours, watching the incomprehensible esper news on repeat. Then, heavy footsteps echoed.

Gahan instinctively tensed, trying to sit even straighter despite already being perfectly seated. The leader's overwhelming presence always pressured Gahan. Without even glancing at Gahan, the leader spoke.

"Report."

"We've confird B. Initially unstable, but over ti, perfectly identified as a guide."

"Secure them soon."

"Yes."

As the leader reached out, the thorns recoiled as if they had a mind of their own, avoiding his hand. The rough movent tore Gahan's wounds further, but no one present cared.

Gahan, freed from the thorns, flexed his hand, loosening his tingling body. The leader, ignoring Gahan's blood-soaked body, clicked his tongue while looking at his unblemished face except for the lips.

"Fulfill your purpose. That's why I took you in and raised you."

"Yes, I will keep that in mind."

After releasing Gahan, the leader leisurely left, and Gahan bowed until his forehead touched the ground. Even after the footsteps faded, and until the floor was pooled with Gahan's blood.

Logan was seriously suffering from a lack of Yiheon. Yiheon had been out of contact for days, but everyone except Logan acted as if it was no big deal.

"The team leader usually doesn't stay at the association."

"Why?"

At Logan's question, Yeoncheong hesitated. His expression seed guilty, so Logan couldn't press further and backed off.

Then, after lunch, soone knocked on Yiheon's office door. Was it Yeoncheong? Other espers rarely visited Yiheon's office.

But when the door opened, it was an esper Logan had never seen before. When Logan asked what was going on, the esper bluntly explained the orders he was told to deliver. Logan's expression twisted and then turned into one of disbelief.

"What?"

The shocking news was that Yiheon had used his ability on a governnt agent and would be detained for a while. Suddenly? He wouldn't do that. No wonder he hadn't read any of the ssages I sent!

Logan barely regained his composure. If the esper wasn't lying, then Yiheon really did that. Logan asked if there was anything he could do.

"There's nothing you can do. Just wait."

The esper, who was only ordered to deliver the ssage, said with annoyance, eager to leave quickly.

Logan lowered his head. He was anxious and anticipated a long wait. Of all places, Yiheon was detained in a governnt secret facility he had said, "I hope you never have to co here." Logan sighed deeply.

It was true there was nothing he could do, and even if he found a way to visit, Yiheon wouldn't welco it. He figured Yiheon would co out on his own eventually. So instead of worrying unnecessarily, Logan decided to use a thod to quickly call Yiheon.

[Honey, I miss you.]

He believed that as soon as Yiheon read this heartfelt ssage, he would co running to him.

The person who waited for Logan to finish typing on his phone then inford him of the next matter.

"And the Enhancent Division Team 1 leader is calling for you."

Logan's eyes sparkled. Finally! He didn't expect to see him before Yiheon, but it was better this way. He felt sorry for Jeongsik and Jeonghee, who were helping him, but they alone couldn't grasp if Logan was properly applying his abilities in the training room.

He could only tell by their reactions, which weren't as effective as Yiheon's, and they always said everything was fine, which wasn't the response Logan wanted. Logan needed soone who could genuinely find areas for improvent in his abilities, not soone who would just praise him.

Moreover, since he was waiting in the training room, it seed he would teach him today. Logan took a deep breath at the door, then opened it and entered.

"Hello. I'm Logan Carter from ntal Division Team 1."

Boyun, who was evaluated as having made bone-crushing efforts to rise from an A-grade to an S-grade, was an excellent opportunity for Logan. Especially since he had offered to help Logan, Logan had no intention of missing this chance.

Since he had a connection with Yiheon, he didn't think Boyun would cause much trouble for Yiheon if he found out he was a guide.

Boyun, who was silent at Logan's polite greeting, slowly moved his hand in front of him. Logan instinctively stepped back. Even though the gesture was slow and visible, he did so. Seeing Logan's reaction, Boyun nodded and spoke.

"You have basic crisis detection ability."

No matter how slow, what would happen if soone hit another with a rock in hand? Boyun had the ability to crush a person like tofu simply by wrapping a little energy around his fist.

If Logan hadn't dodged, his face would have been bruised for a while. Knowing it could be dangerous due to a concussion, Boyun roughly tested him by reaching out.

"Gates aren't peaceful and beautiful places like where the recent sports festival was held."

"I'm not going there for sightseeing."

"Well."

Boyun checked Logan's muscles by tapping his arm, shoulder, and waist.

"Seems like you've done so sports."

"I haven't in a while, but I played so football."

If students who attended high school with Logan heard this, they'd click their tongues at how hard he worked, but Logan sumd it up as 'so.'

After roughly checking Logan's basics, Boyun touched the large scar on his face and spoke in a low voice.

"Guides die too easily."

Boyun's emotionless gaze swept over Logan. Logan held his breath. It was a persistent gaze, as if appraising the value of an object.

Logan had decided to learn from Boyun, who wouldn't cause trouble if discovered, but that didn't an he wanted to be found out. Moreover, he hadn't leaked any guiding to Boyun, so how?

Logan's blue eyes t Boyun's, and he read sothing in them. Logan pondered that emotion for a long ti. It was a difficult kind of emotion for him to na.

"You're as soft as they are."

…Was he not found out? Was he just criticizing him for being as weak as a guide despite being an esper?

What was certain was that Boyun, who was supposedly close to Yiheon, didn't like Logan. Logan sensed that this learning experience would be quite arduous.

A few days later, Yiheon finally squinted at the light. Though he was supposedly detained with Siren, it was more like he was being used to interrogate spies sent from other countries, find ledgers of corporate corruption, and other useless tasks.

He ended up doing a lot of free work for the governnt. It was obvious they detained him, seeing it as an opportunity to make him work. Yiheon clicked his tongue. But he didn't regret ssing with Siren.

"Be careful next ti."

Yiheon didn't respond to the governnt esper's words. If it weren't Yiheon, who could handle such labor with just a warning, others might have suffered greatly and never co out.

His body was exhausted from using his ability without guiding. Yiheon stretched to relax his body. They sure acted fast. He had found Siren before stepping in, but while he was being worked to the bone, she had already taken off, saying she was taking a vacation.

Yiheon clicked his tongue and checked his phone as he left the abandoned building. Amidst the piled-up ssages, Logan's text stood out, bringing a rare smile to his face.

My guide misses , so I should hurry. The brief thought of looking for Siren vanished without a trace. He needed to return to see Logan quickly.

Wait, do I look too scruffy right now?

Reaching the association, Yiheon paused and decided to stop by ho first. Though he had a place provided by the governnt during his stay, it wasn't enough.

anwhile, Logan, missing Yiheon terribly, was dodging Boyun's punches. He barely avoided a swing, yet his skin felt raw as if it had been grazed.

It had only been four days of training, two hours a day, but he felt like he'd faced life-threatening situations more than 20 tis.

Boyun might have swung casually, but each blow was harsh for a guide like Logan to endure. Yet Logan endured Boyun's two-hour training without a word of complaint.

As a guide, Logan was nothing compared to Alpha Logan. Such a pathetic image didn't suit him. Most importantly, if he was nothing, he'd be a burden to Yiheon, who kept him by his side.
