The annihilation of Boros and the rout of tal Knight's robot army swept across the globe, extinguishing the last sparks of hope and resistance.
Panic no longer spread... it boiled over.
On streets, online, wherever people gathered, there were hysterical cries, numb despair, and the madness of an end-of-the-world carnival.
The Hero Association's phones were overwheld, but operators couldn't even offer comforting lies.
With S-Class Heroes and monsters allied, a cosmic conqueror, and a vast robot army all defeated, what could they say?
Amidst this oppressive atmosphere, in the main eting room of the Hero Association's Headquarters, the tension was thick enough to cut.
Besides the S-Class Heroes, Gyoro Gyoro participated via encrypted holographic link.
It was a historic scene… the highest echelons of Heroes and monsters, forced together by a common, seemingly invincible enemy.
"All energy-based attacks are absorbed, nullified, or beco his fuel," tal Knight's cold voice ca through the communicator. His unit was undergoing ergency repairs and data analysis at the G5 fortress.
"Physical attacks are also ineffective," Atomic Samurai shook his head. "He can project a green energy barrier. My [Atomic Slash] can't even cut through it! Its strength is like sothing from another dinsion."
Silence fell. Energy attacks useless, physical attacks nearly immune... how could they fight?
"Is there... no weakness at all?" Pig God asked quietly, his snacking motions distracted.
"None discovered so far," Drive Knight's electronic voice held a rare hint of strain. "All observational data points to 'absoluteness' and 'insolubility'."
"Perhaps... there are two options left." Gyoro Gyoro's voice ca through the hologram, capturing everyone's attention.
"First," Gyoro Gyoro modulated its tone, "Find the person who killed Boros."
"After Boros was 'awakened', fragnts of residual mory indicated that upon arriving on Earth, he was defeated by a 'human who reflected light'."
"Reflected light?" Zombieman frowned.
"Based on the description, it most likely refers to a bald head," Gyoro Gyoro added.
"Bald head?"
The S-Class Heroes in the eting room exchanged glances, quickly searching their minds for matching individuals.
"Bald? There aren't any bald S-Class Heroes?"
"Could it be A-Class Rank 33, Heavy Kong? No way, he shouldn't be that strong."
"Could it be S-Class Rank 1, Blast? He appears and disappears mysteriously... maybe he is bald."
The idea gained traction quickly.
Blast was widely recognized as the strongest, mysterious, and had never publicly appeared.
If he had indeed defeated Boros, it seed plausible, right?
Only Genos, his processor warming slightly behind his tal face, sighed inwardly.
'They still can't think of Sensei. That's fine... Sensei already lost to No.17 once.'
'Let them keep searching for that elusive 'Blast'. That's better since it will give Sensei more ti.'
"And the second option?" Sitch noted down 'find bald mysterious strongman' and pressed.
Gyoro Gyoro's image seed to flicker, its tone shifting to sothing peculiar. "Deep within our Monster Association's Headquarters lies an ancient altar left by a 'God'."
"God?" The group was startled.
"According to ancient traditions, if one can pass the altar's trial and gain the 'God's' recognition, they can obtain power capable of changing anything," Gyoro Gyoro's voice carried a seductive quality. "Power that transcends the current level of life on Earth."
"Such a good deal, and you monsters would share it with us humans?" Tanktop Master's tone was skeptical.
"Because receiving the 'God's' inheritance depends not on the strength of one's power, but on the tenacity, purity, and strength of one's will," Gyoro Gyoro answered calmly, as if expecting the question.
"In terms of willpower, I must admit the best among you humans have an advantage over most monsters."
It paused, then added, "Besides, if we weren't facing an extinction crisis threatening the entire planet, we naturally wouldn't give up such an opportunity. But now, against a common enemy, so internal competition seems pointless."
"Most importantly," Gyoro Gyoro's single eye swept across the room, "With so many S-Class Heroes watching, would it serve any purpose for to lie about this?"
Tanktop Master snorted but remained silent, clearly unconvinced.
Sitch pondered for a mont, then looked around. "What does everyone think?"
"We can try," Zombieman was the first to speak. "At this point, we shouldn't overlook any possibility."
"Willpower? I think I can do it!" Superalloy Darkshine said in a deep voice.
"Does eating count as strong willpower?" Pig God muttered.
Sitch finally made the decision. "Alright! We'll imdiately issue an internal recruitnt notice, screen Heroes with strong determination and potential to go to the Monster Association's Headquarters... to attempt receiving the 'God's inheritance'!"
The eting ended. The link to Gyoro Gyoro was severed.
Sitch's gaze swept over everyone. "As a precaution, I plan to prioritize recruiting B-Class and A-Class Heroes for the inheritance."
Atomic Samurai nodded. "Even with the current cooperation, we should indeed be wary of the Monster Association's actions."
'Should I inform Sensei?' Genos thought, but quickly dismissed it.
He still believed more in the training Saitama was doing himself.
News spread quickly within the Hero Association. Setsuna naturally learned of it too.
'Altar inheritance? Looks like that 'God' is getting desperate.' Setsuna chuckled inwardly.
His judgnt of the so-called God was that it was Earth's Gaia Consciousness.
His consciousness seed to pierce through layers of space, seeing that vast, ancient, yet now anxious and panicked collective consciousness aggregate on Earth.
'If Earth is destroyed, 'you,' as the Gaia Consciousness, will also vanish.'
'So, even risking exposing your existence, even willing to share power with 'parasites', you're desperately trying to nurture a 'weapon' that can oppose No.17?'
A silvery-gray light flickered faintly in Setsuna's eyes.
'The Eighth Sense is cosmic consciousness, a collective consciousness, an aggregate of planetary consciousness... For , needing to absorb cosmic consciousness to strengthen the Eighth Sense, the Cosmo, this is the most nourishing fuel.'
Setsuna's tongue lightly licked his lips, as if savoring an approaching feast.
He was beginning to understand the mindset of the Nitro Nobles in the Toriko World when they cooked Earth.
'I truly wonder, what will God taste like?'
