"We're okay. We haven't entered Room 502 yet. The path to the fifth floor is blocked, and it'll take a while to clear, so we've had to fall back for now!"
Phew… Hearing the voice from the communicator, everyone present breathed a collective sigh of relief. Fortunately, there were no casualties yet. The situation had been incredibly harrowing.
"Get the fire ladder ready!" the fire chief ordered from the side. "The blaze is too intense. We have to rescue the child in Room 502 before we can continue the larger rescue operation!"
Since the fire couldn't be imdiately extinguished, ensuring personal safety was paramount, especially with a three-year-old child involved. With the stairwell blocked, the only available rescue thod was the fire ladder. It was made of a high-strength, fla-resistant material that was easy to fold and operate. Before long, the long ladder was ready.
"A fire ladder? Will that even work? How are they supposed to get into the room after climbing up?"
"Don't worry. We have to trust the firefighters; they're professionals. The fire escape still isn't clear, so this is the only way for now. After all, that's a precious life in there. They have to save them!"
"A human life is at stake! Saving the child is the top priority. It's right to ensure their safety before figuring out another way to fight the fire!"
The firefighters thought so too. By now, the woman was a sobbing ss, crying out in despair, "My child! Please, you have to save him!"
The onlooking residents imdiately recognized her. Her husband had cheated on her and they had divorced, leaving her to raise their child alone. The boy was her only reason for living. Who could have imagined that such a terrible disaster would strike while she was gone for just a mont?
The commanding firefighter at the side called out, "Team One, who's going up to get the child?"
"If no one else can, I'll go!" a firefighter said, gritting his teeth. His face was pale. He had clearly been injured during the earlier rescue efforts, and he wasn't the only one; his teammates had all sustained injuries to varying degrees. This particular firefighter had been too close to the fifth floor when the gas canister exploded. He'd been struck by debris, and his back had slamd hard against a wall. It was a small miracle that despite his injuries, his life wasn't in danger.
A young firefighter with monolids stepped forward. "Deputy Captain Wang, you're injured. Let go!"
Another firefighter imdiately vied for the task. "No, let go! I'm fast and I have more stamina!"
This was the caliber of Dragon Country's firefighters. They possessed a noble character, unafraid to face danger and always ready to charge forward, even when injured.
But in the midst of the firefighters' intense discussion, a handso delivery guy happened to pass by. Wearing a Yellow Vest, he broke through the security cordon at a demonic pace. He rushed to the base of Building 3, pushed off his feet, and leaped onto a giant nearby flowerpot.
No one had expected this, not even the Protectors, who were stunned for a few seconds before scrambling to intervene. "Hey! Kid, this isn't a joke! It's extrely dangerous right now, get down from there! Quick! Soone get him down!"
The Protectors were about to move in and forcibly pull Xia Liang down when he suddenly pushed off with his feet. He displayed astonishing jumping power, his entire body soaring upward. Before the astonished eyes of the crowd, he launched himself toward the anti-theft bars on the second-floor window.
Xia Liang's hands shot out and gripped the anti-theft bars. With a powerful heave of his arms, he perford a perfect pull-up, easily hauling himself onto the second-floor ledge.
What slick moves!
The crowd was stunned speechless. Bystanders blinked, struggling to believe their eyes. Holy crap, is this a movie shoot? Where did this guy even co from? And that familiar Yellow Vest… he's a delivery guy! Holy cow! Dragon Country's delivery industry is full of hidden masters!
Like sharks that had slled blood, the reporters on scene grew frantic, urging their caran on.
"Quick, film him! Get the shot! Don't just stand there!"
"Get the cara on him! Zoom in, give a close-up of the delivery guy!"
"That… that speed! That jump! Is he even human? Not even the firefighters have skills like that! With abilities like these, why is he delivering food? He's practically a star recruit for the fire departnt! Wait a minute… what is he trying to do?"
The scene left everyone utterly astonished, with disbelief written all over their faces. What is he planning? Is he really going to climb up there with his bare hands to save soone? That's the fourth floor he's aiming for! With no protective gear at all! That's far too dangerous! What if he slips? This is just unbelievable!
"Oh my god! Is he really going up there to save the kid?"
"Good heavens, this is absolutely explosive news! This guy is incredible! Quick, get that on cara!"
"Can he even do it? He's really going to try, without any safety gear… If he makes one wrong move, it's all over!"
An older woman in the crowd grew anxious. "Yes, there's a child in that room on the fifth floor, but that delivery boy is soone's child, too! It's moving that he'd risk his life to save soone, but this is just too reckless!"
"Sigh… you don't understand," an older man interjected anxiously. "Every second counts right now. The fire is raging, and the situation is critical! Who knows if there will be a second explosion? There's a child up there! If sothing bad happens to him…"
"That young man is just desperate to help. Think about it. We don't know if there'll be another explosion if we wait, but the thick smoke alone could suffocate the kid. Ti waits for no one!"
It's a well-known fact that in fires, more victims die from smoke inhalation and carbon dioxide poisoning than from the flas themselves. The others nodded in agreent with the man. They began to pray anxiously, hoping the brave delivery guy would succeed.
"Please, let the delivery guy be safe!"
"Good people are rewarded with good fortune. He has to co out of this okay!"
"You can do it, kid! GO!!!" a man shouted, his voice cracking with emotion.
In the nearly twenty seconds since Xia Liang had appeared, his actions had been stunningly efficient. His movents were as smooth as flowing water, his agility surpassing that of a Special Forces Soldier. It was as if his climbing skill was maxed out; even without any equipnt, he scaled the wall like a character with cheat codes enabled, swiftly reaching the third floor.
"Damn! This guy is a hero with incredible skills!"
"What delivery guy?! He's basically Spider-Man! Is he even human?"
The onlookers stared, dumbfounded. Before they could even process what was happening, Xia Liang had already reached the third floor. A bead of sweat trickled down one of the firefighter's temples. He's incredible! Not even the top perforr in our squad could do that!
The firefighter with the monolids grew anxious. "Captain! Are we still going up or not?"
