Xia Liang felt a bit dizzy from her circling. When she finally stopped at his side, he steadied her by the shoulders and placed the helt directly on her head.
"No, no, no. I'm not Doraemon. I can give you a ride, but I can't grant wishes."
"Mister Xia, you aren't discriminating against people from out of town, are you?" Tian Yuanyuan lifted her visor, her large eyes looking watery. "My wish is simple—I just want to have a good ti tonight for my birthday and do all the things I've never had the chance to experience."
Xia Liang chuckled. "Little sister, there's a lot you haven't experienced. If we were to try them one by one, I'm afraid your body wouldn't be able to handle it."
"Don't let my slender fra fool you, I have great stamina. I can dance for seven or eight sets without getting tired."
Tian Yuanyuan seed to miss the insinuation, maintaining an air of sweet innocence. His interest now fully piqued, Xia Liang patted her helt. "What I an is, a ride is a ride, and hanging out is hanging out. Please don't cause trouble for a dedicated, professional driver."
"So, is that a no?"
"Of course it's a no."
Tian Yuanyuan's large eyes darted around playfully. "Alright then. Before we reach the destination, I'll change the terms. I'm hiring you for the entire night."
Holy crap! How did she even think of such a crazy move? I guess money really does talk.
In the end, Xia Liang admitted defeat. The order was technically complete anyway. What could he do when soone was throwing money at him, especially when business had been so poor today? Just thinking about it was enough to make a man cry.
Excited, Tian Yuanyuan straddled the motorcycle, then paused awkwardly. "Where... where should I hold on?"
"Sis, where do you think you should hold on? My waist, of course. What's the matter, feeling shy?"
Tian Yuanyuan was indeed embarrassed. Despite her teoric rise to fa, she hadn't been corrupted by materialism or prestige. She had never done anything against her principles, not even holding hands with a man.
"O-okay."
Tian Yuanyuan slowly put her arms around Xia Liang's waist, leaving a large gap between them.
ROAR—
The Black Knight lurched forward abruptly before stopping short.
"Ah!"
As expected, inertia threw Tian Yuanyuan hard against Xia Liang's back. Startled, she instinctively hugged his waist tightly.
"That's more like it. You could easily get thrown off if you don't hold on tight."
Xia Liang sighed. What a pain. This was Tian Yuanyuan's first ti on the back of a motorcycle, and she now understood he hadn't been joking. The Black Knight's speed was genuinely terrifying.
"Riding my beloved little scooter~ It never gets stuck in traffic~"
Humming a little tune, Xia Liang leisurely weaved the Black Knight through the cars. Once they turned onto the highway, it transford into a raging beast. Barring any special requests or circumstances, Xia Liang kept his speed within the legal limit.
He weaved through traffic at around eighty kiloters per hour without any flashy maneuvers. For one, it wasn't necessary. For two, he was genuinely afraid of throwing the young woman off the back. Xia Liang did not want tomorrow's headline to be: "Top Star Tian Yuanyuan Played to Death by the Black Flash."
"So, can you handle this speed?"
Tian Yuanyuan nodded against his back in reply. Eighty kiloters per hour felt completely different without the shell of a car around you. Being on a motorcycle for the first ti, she was a bit nervous. Any faster and she would be scared, but this speed was just right—a little thrilling, but not overwhelming.
It was quite pleasant, but alas, the heavens are unpredictable.
As they passed a certain stretch of road, a luxury car and several sedans were parked on the shoulder. About a dozen n stood around, smoking and on a video call.
"Director Chen, you know my price list. Two Cents per item," replied Scarface, who was clearly a gangster. "You're a regular, so I'll give you a discount: thirty-five cents for two legs, and I'll throw in an arm for free. Fair enough?"
On the other end of the call was Chen Xiang, a regional manager for the Great Star Group. After learning that the Great Star Group's young master had run into trouble here, he had broken out in a cold sweat. After a long investigation combing through tiny clues, Chen Xiang had finally zeroed in on Xia Liang. Thinking of the fury of his superiors, he felt it was necessary to make a preemptive move. He would pretend to be seeking revenge, have Xia Liang killed, and offer it up to see if it would placate their anger.
Chen Xiang grinned nacingly on the video feed. "I don't want his arms or legs. I want his life. Na your price."
"Taking a life isn't a simple job." Brother Li flicked the ash from his cigarette. He didn't quote a price, but inside, he was already celebrating.
"Money is no object!" Chen Xiang stated firmly.
"Alright, how about this? All in, three Yuan. You know we have to factor in hush money for the families and funds for skipping town afterward."
"Deal. I'll give you four Yuan. Just kill him as soon as possible."
Brother Li grinned. "My kind of friend. Alright, who is he? Where does he live?"
VRRROOOM—
The roar of an engine ripped past them. Chen Xiang instantly recognized the sound of the Black Knight. In all of Qingyun City, only Xia Liang had one.
"Switch to your front cara," he said imdiately.
Though puzzled, Brother Li did as he was told.
"That's him! The guy on the motorcycle up ahead!" Chen Xiang was ecstatic.
Brother Li was stunned. "What a coincidence. You sure you got the right guy?"
Chen Xiang shook his head repeatedly. "It's definitely him," he said urgently. "But I've never been able to find out where he lives. If we lose him this ti, he'll be hard to find again."
"Alright, boys, get in the cars! We've got a job to do!" Brother Li wasted no ti, signaling his underlings to move.
The phone in her pocket had vibrated no less than twenty tis, but Tian Yuanyuan completely ignored it. It's definitely Sister Xiaolin. She must be going frantic by now. Hmph, this little scare will teach her. I'll text her back when I get off.
The Black Knight drove onto the overpass, where the traffic began to thin out.
