Afterward, Xia Liang scanned the room. Although his vision was not clear, he did indeed see a vague black shadow in the corner.
"So there really is one..."
The corners of Xia Liang's mouth slowly rose as the shadow erged in the corner of the study. It appeared to be the shadow of a person, but there was no one else in the room besides Xia Liang. The shadow had long hair, resembling a woman, and the sound of crying ca from it. Combined with the flickering lights, it was enough to scare the wits out of an ordinary person.
But Xia Liang was no ordinary person.
Seeing these things truly appear actually sparked his interest. A new thing. This isn't the sa kind of Spiritual Body I encountered last ti.
After taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, Xia Liang began to perform a divination on the shadow, only to discover it was neither human nor spirit, but an object. For a mont, his divination revealed nothing further.
His curiosity piqued, Xia Liang slowly approached it.
Yet the shadow, as if it possessed consciousness, maintained its distance from him. As he moved closer, it would dissipate and then reappear in another location. Xia Liang found it rather exasperating.
After a mont's thought, Xia Liang pulled a peace charm from his clothes. This kind of charm could ward off disasters and ensure one's safety. Although it was useless against fatal disasters, it was very effective against other dangers and calamities. If this black shadow did not truly wish to kill He Youling, it would surely be affected.
As Xia Liang took out the charm, the shadow seed to sense fear and disappeared imdiately. The lights in the room brightened in an instant.
"Boring," Xia Liang mumbled. Just as he was about to put the peace charm away, he heard a commotion from downstairs.
After descending the stairs, he found the lights in the main hall had gone out, and the shadow had appeared in a corner. He Youling and his son were huddled together in the opposite corner. Since Xia Liang had instructed them earlier, they dared not call for the nanny or anyone else.
Seeing Xia Liang co downstairs, the two of them ran over imdiately.
"Master Xia, why has it co down here? Have you found a way to deal with it?" He Xiaojun asked, his voice trembling slightly as he pointed at the shadow in the corner.
He Youling's face was also pale. Ordinarily, they would have fled by now.
Xia Liang casually remarked, "This thing is quite easy to deal with."
"You can solve it?" He Youling and his son asked in unison, their eyes filled with excitent.
Xia Liang nodded. "It's nothing."
He then affixed the peace charm to the nearby wall and blew a breath onto it.
In the next second, the peace charm ignited on its own, without any fla. It was as if Xia Liang's breath was not air but fire itself. This act left He Youling and his son utterly stunned. A mont later, their mouths hung open in disbelief.
They watched as the remaining ashes of the peace charm slowly vanished into thin air, as if blending into the very space around them.
The two n rubbed their eyes, unable to believe what they were seeing. Indeed, there was not even a small mark left on the wall.
"What was that?" He Youling exclaid, his voice tinged with disbelief.
He Xiaojun touched the wall as well, finding nothing.
Xia Liang simply waved his hand and said nonchalantly, "From now on, nothing strange will ever appear in this house again."
Just as He Youling and his son were about to say sothing more, the lights suddenly returned to their full brightness. The shadow in the corner twisted as if in great tornt before completely disappearing.
At the sa ti, a fresh breeze seed to sweep through the entire villa, leaving it incredibly refreshing. It felt as if all the gloom had been swept away in an instant, and even a faint, natural fragrance seed to erge in the air.
He Youling and his son imdiately felt much more relaxed. Even without confirmation, they knew that they would no longer encounter any bizarre incidents, at least not within the villa.
"Thank you so much, Master Xia." He Youling gave a fist and palm salute to Xia Liang and continued, "I can't believe that sothing which has plagued for so long could be solved by you with a single talisman. I was just wondering..." He paused briefly. "What exactly did you use just now, Master Xia?"
"It was just a peace charm," Xia Liang said casually. "From now on, not only will that thing not appear in this villa again, but no other calamities will befall it either. You can rest easy living here."
He Youling and He Xiaojun exchanged a glance before continuing, "Using the talisman and performing the ritual must have been very tiring for you, Master Xia. Please, you must stay here tonight. Tomorrow we will repay you for your efforts today."
"Actually..." Xia Liang opened his mouth, about to say that a single charm was nothing to him and that he wasn't tired at all. But on second thought, he realized there was no point in explaining, so he let it be.
「In another villa in Haojiang.」
A figure, whose eyes were closed in ditation, seed to sense sothing and abruptly opened them.
This man had the appearance of a monk, but his robes were an eerie black and seed to be surrounded by a faint bloody aura. He appeared to be in his forties or fifties, his face clouded with a dark expression.
On the table before him lay a flat, yellow talisman. It was covered in countless peculiar symbols and markings. Yet, among them, one could clearly make out He Youling's na and date of birth.
