After he finished, Xia Liang slowly started walking toward Wu Jiasheng, whose trajectory of fate had now returned to normal.

A figure dressed in a white suit looked down at the luxurious city streets below. Behind his desk stood several other figures, all of whom were his most capable lieutenants. At that mont, they all kept their heads bowed low, awaiting orders from the man before them.
"Have you found Wu Jiasheng?" the man finally asked after a few monts.
Hearing his voice, the n outside seed to break into a cold sweat; they were clearly terrified of their boss.
They hurriedly replied, "We've found him. After his dad picked him up, Wu Jiasheng hasn't left his side. He's currently on his dad's film set. It seems unlikely that he will be separated from Director Wu anyti soon."
"I can't wait that long," the man muttered, exhaling a puff of smoke without turning around. "That director's movie isn't bad. A sha. But his son ruined my plans. If they refuse to separate, then..."
He paused for a second.
"Kill them both."
"Understood," one of the subordinates replied with a nod, already formulating a plan in his mind.
The man in white turned around and asked his second question. "The murderer who killed Fang Liwen and the others—have you identified them?"
As he spoke, his expression grew even colder. After all, Wu Jiasheng had only cost them so money, but the person who eliminated Fang Liwen and his n had taken away a top enforcer. For a long ti to co, they would likely have to handle matters personally, which could easily leave clues and might even endanger their entire organization. Therefore, compared to Wu Jiasheng, their desire for revenge against Xia Liang was far greater.
Hearing the question, his subordinates hurriedly opened the file folders in front of them and handed him the contents. "We've investigated thoroughly. The incident with Fang Liwen and the others was because of this person."
He took the file. The first page was a photograph of Xia Liang, followed by his information.
The subordinate who handed him the file continued, "Our contact inside the Security Bureau told us who the killer is. Coincidentally, we had a man near the Mass Burial Mound that day who saw a luxury car pass by. He's an expert on cars, so he imdiately identified the niche brand. We followed that clue and found the only person who bought that model in the last month."
As he said this, a hint of pride appeared on the subordinate's face. "Even the Security Bureau doesn't know it was him yet. They're probably still poring over surveillance footage."
The man in the white suit didn't respond. He just silently looked at the docunts in his hand, letting out an occasional scoff. It was clear he found the contents utterly unbelievable.
A few minutes later, he had roughly gone through Xia Liang's file. Xia Liang had used his real na when buying the car, so they had easily found so leaked information about him. After reading it, even the boss couldn't help but remark, "Interesting. Very interesting."
His voice echoed slowly in the room. Tossing the file onto the desk, he turned back to his lieutenants. Pointing at the papers, he asked with a smile, "Have you all read this?"
"Yes, we've read it all," the n below nodded.
Their boss continued, "So, what do you think? Is the information in here true or false?"
"Well..." a hesitant voice began, but then quickly continued, "I asked so friends in Haojiang. They said the things written here might very well be true."
Hearing this, the boss burst out laughing. "True? Don't be ridiculous. Killing from a distance, controlling life and death with a single thought? I think those old fools in Haojiang have watched too many movies."
"But," one of the n below interjected after a pause, "at the Mass Burial Mound, he was apparently the only one there. How did he kill Fang Liwen and the others?"
"That part is strange, I admit," the boss said, stroking his chin before breaking into another smile. "Poison, or perhaps a trap. The most likely scenario is that there were others lying in ambush at the mound. In any case, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with ghosts or gods."
As he spoke, he scornfully picked up Xia Liang's photograph from the file. It had been taken by a journalist at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Haojiang. In the photo, Xia Liang had a faint smile on his lips as he looked calmly toward the cara. Looking at the photo, the boss felt an inexplicable sense of unease. Xia Liang's gaze seed to pierce through the photograph, his gentle smile aid directly at him, sending a shiver down the spine.
His subordinates had clearly seen the photo as well. When their boss held it up, they all instinctively averted their eyes, obviously unnerved by the feeling that the man in the picture was watching them. The photo's eeriness was, in truth, a coincidence. It was perhaps due to Xia Liang's unfathomable, inscrutable aura. Combined with the smile on his face, eting his eyes felt as if one's every secret was being laid bare. This sensation had been imprinted onto the photograph, and because his gaze was aid directly at the cara, the image was extrely unsettling.
However, unlike his subordinates, the boss seed completely unfazed by the feeling of being watched. After another glance, he laughed aloud.
"The people of Haojiang call you a Living Immortal. Well, my dear Living Immortal, do you know that you're about to die at my hands?"
He hung the photo on a nearby whiteboard, which already held a picture of Wu Jiasheng. There were other photos around it as well, but they, along with Wu Jiasheng's, were all marked with a large red X. The man then picked up a red marker from the side of the whiteboard and slowly brought it toward Xia Liang's picture.
"Killing from a distance, controlling lifespans… it's laughable. If you're really that powerful, you should know that right now..." The man licked his lips. "I really want to kill you."
Hearing their boss's words, the others felt a cold sweat for Xia Liang's sake. No one their boss targeted had ever survived. Fang Liwen had a long-standing partnership with him. Attacking Fang Liwen was the sa as declaring war on the boss. No matter where you fled, even to the ends of the earth, survival was impossible.
Just as the boss was about to draw a red X on Xia Liang's photo, one of his subordinates suddenly spoke up.
"Boss."
"What is it?" The man's hand froze, the marker hovering in the air.
"I think... perhaps we should investigate this person more. His reputation is also significant in Jinling and Qingyun, and many of the elites in Jinling and Haojiang call him a Living Immortal. Should we really move against him?"
