Watching the short-haired girl leave, the man hurried to catch up. Many people also heard the man's voice as he spoke.
"Miss, you're so cool! Since you don't have a boyfriend and I don't have a girlfriend, how about we skip this dangerous activity and go karting together instead? What do you think?"
"Sure!"
...
Instantly, the single people in the crowd looked eagerly toward the corridor. Could one really find love while walking on the edge of death? Was such a wonderful thing possible?
「anwhile.」
At the very front of the line, a staff mber approached Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan.
"Who wants to go first?"
Hearing this, Xia Liang raised an eyebrow. "Can't we go together?"
"Huh?" The staff mber was taken aback. This was clearly the first ti he had encountered this question since the attraction opened, and for a mont, he didn't know what to do. "Well, this activity is done one person at a ti, and we only have one safety rope."
"Alright." Xia Liang didn't press the issue; he had only been asking. If it was possible, great. If not, he wasn't the type to force it.
However, just as Xia Liang was about to let it go, Yun Xinya, who was standing nearby, spoke up.
"Wait!" She pointed to another staff mber in the distance who was managing the safety ropes. "Doesn't he have one? Just have him co over and take his off, then you'll have two, right?"
After hearing Yun Xinya, the staff mber at the gate glanced subconsciously at his colleague before turning back. "But if they both slip and are left hanging in mid-air, we won't be able to get to them for an imdiate rescue."
This ti, Yun Xinya remained silent, but Xia Liang spoke. "It's fine. Don't worry, we won't have any accidents."
"That's right!" Tong Dongnuan nodded in agreent.
Hearing them both say so, the staff mber finally relented. "Then... okay!"
In truth, the main reason was that these two were VIPs. If he made them unhappy and they filed a complaint, he'd probably lose his job. He waved the staff mber in the distance over.
"What's up?"
The gate attendant was brief. "Give your safety rope to this handso guy."
"Then what about ?"
In response to the question, the gate attendant simply gestured toward the wristbands Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan were wearing. The other man's face instantly lit up with an expression of understanding. He dutifully unfastened his safety rope and helped secure it onto Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan.
Just like that, with their fingers interlocked, the two of them stepped onto the "Life on the Line" corridor.
Their appearance imdiately captured everyone's attention.
"Holy shit? Why are there two people this ti? Are they a couple?"
"Obviously! You think they're siblings? Didn't you see them holding hands?"
"Damn, they're both ridiculously good-looking! What a handso man and beautiful woman!"
"Do you think they'll dare to cross?"
"I bet they will!"
"I don't know, it's hard to say…"
...
On the walkway, Xia Liang glanced down casually. He felt no numbness in his legs, nor did his heart race. In fact, he was completely unfazed. After all, in his previous life, he had engaged in extre sports far more thrilling than this.
In comparison, Tong Dongnuan was a little nervous, her breathing slightly heavier. Sensing her state, Xia Liang squeezed her hand a bit more firmly.
"Are you scared?"
"No!" Tong Dongnuan shook her head, which was the truth. She was just nervous, a feeling far from actual fear. She took a few deep breaths, trying to compose herself.
More than ten seconds passed. Seeing that the pair still hadn't moved, the crowd began to murmur.
"Why aren't they going? If you're not going to walk, then co down! Don't waste everyone's ti."
"Right? Are you just up there to enjoy the view?"
"They're probably scared! They're just a couple of youngsters, so it's normal for them to be a bit timid!"
"Hey handso, stop looking! The more you look, the less you'll dare to walk!"
"That's right! To do this, you have to go for it in one go. If you chicken out halfway, you'll never make it across!"
...
Gazing at the chattering crowd, Yun Xinya, who was recording with her phone, also grew puzzled. "Could you guys have been wrong? Maybe they're too scared to go on?"
"No way!" Xie Qiang and Wen Jing replied almost in unison, their confidence unshaken.
"Then…" Yun Xinya pointed toward Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan, about to say more, but then she saw them start to move.
No way? Not again?
On the walkway, after seeing that Tong Dongnuan had composed herself, Xia Liang let out a soft chuckle. "Dongnuan, are you ready?"
"Mhm." Tong Dongnuan nodded, her grip on Xia Liang's hand tightening. "I'm ready, Xia Liang."
The two exchanged a smile. Through her phone's screen, Yun Xinya watched the familiar scene unfold.
Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan stepped forward at the exact sa mont.
CLICK.
In the next second, they arrived at the first foothold together. Without a hint of hesitation, they took another synchronized step.
CLICK.
They reached the second foothold.
Yun Xinya couldn't detect a trace of fear or apprehension in their eyes. All she could see was their undisguised love for each other. It was as if they weren't there for a challenge but were simply a couple out for a spring stroll. To them, this perilous walkway seed to be nothing more than a serene path through the woods. They walked with such poetic grace.
The Life on the Line walkway was ten ters long. Many people couldn't even manage a single step, yet Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan crossed it in just over ten seconds.
When they reached the other side, the staff mber ant to open the gate was still staring, dumbfounded. He didn't snap out of it until Xia Liang knocked on the iron door.
"Oh! Oh! Oh!" The staff mber scrambled to open the door, speaking with so embarrassnt. "I'm sorry, I was just staring in a daze. I never expected two people could cross with such poetic grace."
"It's alright." Xia Liang waved his hand dismissively. After the staff mber unhooked their safety ropes, he took out two small cards.
"Congratulations on passing the first round of the Brave's Challenge. Take these to participate in the second round. If you succeed, you will receive the Brave's Certificate awarded by Lingye Valley!"
"Thank you!" Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan said their thanks and took the small cards, preparing to head toward the bungee jumping platform.
As the pair erged, the crowd finally ca to its senses, and an uproar ensued.
"My god! That's unbelievable!"
"I know, right! They didn't look scared at all from start to finish! And did you notice? Even the way they lifted and planted their feet was perfectly synchronized!"
"Hiss… Their synchronization is incredible!"
"I'm so jealous! I envy their courage. They made the Brave's Challenge look like a walk in the park, while I can't even bring myself to take a single step."
At this mont, Yun Xinya snapped back to reality.
Alright, they got again! Fine, I'll swallow their public display of affection. Is that what you want?
Watching Xia Liang and Tong Dongnuan approach, her face was filled with envy.
When will I get to be like them, strolling so casually along the brink of danger with my boyfriend?
Just as Yun Xinya was lost in her daydream, Xia Liang ca over, holding Tong Dongnuan's hand. Tong Dongnuan proudly held up the small card in her hand. "We've already gotten the pass for the first challenge! How about you, Xinya? Want to give it a try?"
"I'll pass." Yun Xinya shook her head, not because she was afraid. It was because she had done all these activities before; for her, the novelty and thrill were gone. If that was the case, she might as well not do it at all.
Though Tong Dongnuan didn't know the exact reason, she didn't press the matter when she saw Yun Xinya wasn't interested. "Alright then!"
She waved the small card again, the excitent in her eyes undiminished. "In that case, let's head to the second challenge!"
"Let's go!" the others naturally agreed.
The bungee jumping platform was not far from their current location. The departure of the trio instantly drew a crowd along with them. Everyone was eager to see if this divine couple of Immortals could handle a 200-ter-high bungee jump with the sa effortless grace.
