Ethan listened carefully to the man’s request. If the man truly insisted on asking for his help, then Ethan was willing to do it.
However, there was still a major problem. Ethan did not yet know who Mr. X really was.
He did not know which guild Mr. X belonged to, what class he used, or what kind of person he was.
There were too many unknowns. Ethan lacked critical information that he needed as a foundation for his next move.
The man explained that he knew several things about Mr. X. He hoped that whatever information he could provide would be enough to help Ethan take revenge on his behalf.
"You probably don’t know much about Mr. X," the man said quietly. "Only certain mbers of the Shadow Guild have information about him."
"You do?" Ethan asked.
The man nodded. He had spoken with several mbers of the Shadow Guild before. From those conversations, he learned fragnts of information about Mr. X’s identity.
According to them, Mr. X was not an original mber of the Shadow Guild. He ca from another guild, one that was stronger and had a higher standing than Shadow Guild itself.
"So of them say Mr. X is from Silver Star," the man explained. "But many others say he cos from Scavenger."
Ethan nodded slowly. He had heard rumors about Silver Star’s involvent before. Still, he had never been able to confirm any of it.
Since AllMighty01 was a forr mber of the Shadow Guild, the information coming from him was far more reliable than Ethan’s own assumptions.
Anything this man said could potentially be valuable.
"In my opinion, you should start investigating both guilds," AllMighty01 continued.
Ethan agreed, but he also understood that it would take ti. There was still no concrete evidence pointing directly to Mr. X.
Guesswork and false accusations would only bring trouble to LionArk.
"Do you have any other information?" Ethan asked.
"I heard that Shadow Guild mbers are planning to carry out attacks in several locations connected to LionArk," the man replied.
Ethan was clearly shocked. If what the man said was true, then Ethan needed to take real preventive action to stop the sa tragedy from happening again.
"Do you know the exact locations?" Ethan asked.
The man nodded. He said he would send the details through a ssage. That way, no one else would overhear their conversation.
Ethan did not respond verbally. A mont later, a ssage notification appeared. As he read it, his expression hardened.
The ssage contained real threats aid at several buildings that housed guild headquarters within the city of Mavelard.
There was no ti to waste.
Ethan imdiately forwarded the ssage to Hanss and Darcy. Even though both of them were probably passed out drunk at the mont, they would read the ssage as soon as they woke up.
"For now, you should focus on dealing with their current attack plan," the man said.
"You can prove whether my words are true or not from that alone."
Ethan turned slightly toward him. "What’s your na?"
The man beside him stayed silent for a mont, then turned and looked straight into Ethan’s eyes.
"Call Erik."
Erik. A simple na, easy to rember. Ethan sent him a friend request and added him to his list. He still did not know why Erik chose the userna AllMighty01.
"You can et here again at the sa ti," Erik said.
Ethan nodded. He felt that he had already obtained enough information regarding Shadow Guild’s imdiate plans.
The wine in his glass was gone. Ethan excused himself and prepared to return to LionArk’s headquarters. Erik nodded in response, silently allowing him to leave.
Ethan walked away from the coffee shop and soon reached the streets of the western district of Ring 3. The atmosphere felt far quieter than before.
WOSH!
The sound of rushing wind echoed clearly through the area. It was not an ordinary gust of wind. It sounded like sothing moving at high speed.
Ethan reacted instantly. He narrowed his eyes and heightened his alertness. Lifting his head, he scanned the rooftops of the surrounding buildings.
Several dark silhouettes were watching him from above.
They clearly knew who Ethan was and what he was capable of. The previous clash between Shadow Guild and Ethan had already proven that he was not soone who could be dealt with easily.
They were there, watching him. Yet none of them dared to attack.
Ethan stayed on guard, but the situation did not escalate. In the end, he relaxed his posture and continued walking as if nothing had happened. His destination was still the LionArk headquarters.
They’re testing or maybe they’re waiting for a better chance.
He did not look back.
***
Three days later.
LionArk Headquarters.
Hanss observed the operation to dismantle Shadow Guild’s planned attacks from a distance. Ethan stood beside him, watching the situation unfold.
In a short amount of ti, LionArk’s assassin teams successfully handled the threats. They captured the perpetrators before they could take action. No chaos erupted. The city’s stability remained intact.
"I don’t know where you got this information," Hanss said, "but this is valuable intelligence for the city."
Ethan nodded. He still could not tell Hanss the truth behind it. For now, he chose to keep his connection with Erik as a secret source of information.
All suspects had been arrested. Their plans failed completely. Even the mbers of Shadow Guild had not expected LionArk to identify and capture them before they could cause trouble.
"I’ll rely on this information," Hanss continued, "but we still need to stay focused on city security."
"We need to act one step ahead of them," Ethan replied.
Hanss took a sharp breath, then nodded in agreent.
"Understood."
The two left the scene, walking alongside the assassin team that had brought the suspect from the northern district of Ring 2.
Many people saw this, and quite a few of them expressed their praise for the success.
The trust of the city’s residents increased as more and more criminals were arrested.
"You should et with your informant again. It seems like he knows a lot about the Shadow Guild."
"It seems so."
