’First, I’ll grind the Skill Level of Divine Hundred Miles to Level 4, then I’ll grind my other Third-level Divine Powers for a more well-rounded developnt.’

This was Shen Bai’s plan. After all, his current Skills were far from their peak and had enormous room for improvent.

Shen Bai had bought this entire street himself because it was cheap, located in a remote area.

As Shen Bai walked along, there was no one else around.

Under the moonlight, his shadow stretched out endlessly.

Arriving at his door, Shen Bai took out his key and opened it with one hand.

Once the door was open, moonlight stread through the entrance, casting a silvery frost across the floor inside.

Just as Shen Bai was about to step into the room, Amber, who was cradled in his arms, suddenly stirred.

"OW!"

Amber turned and poked its head out from under Shen Bai’s arm.

Its erald-like eyes stared at a corner of the street as it let out a low growl.

Shen Bai froze, pocketed his key, and instantly drew Cold Moon from his waist.

The half-hamr he’d obtained from the Observatory’s resource room hung from the other side of his waist, but it didn’t impede his movents.

The Deceitful Beast was agitated, and its low growl was one Shen Bai knew all too well.

It was proof that an aberration was present.

Shen Bai followed its gaze and saw a terrifying, hunched figure under the moonlight in a corner of the street, pacing back and forth.

The figure was pitch-black and flat, almost like a piece of paper.

If it were to lie flat on the ground, it would look just like a shadow.

But this shadow-like humanoid aberration was wearing sothing that looked like clothes.

The garnt was woven from straw and worn by the humanoid aberration.

The shadow-like humanoid aberration swayed back and forth on the street, its legs moving restlessly.

A chilling aura surged from its body.

Shen Bai raised Cold Moon, and blood-red Sword Qi burst from the blade. It shot out at extre speed, arriving in the blink of an eye to pin the humanoid aberration to the ground.

Pinned by the Sword Qi, the humanoid aberration imdiately struggled and squird before turning into a puff of smoke and vanishing.

On the ground, only the straw-woven clothes remained, swaying in the wind.

A wisp of Evil Qi appeared and was collected by Shen Bai.

"Hm?" Shen Bai raised an eyebrow.

The aberration was weak, yielding only a single wisp of Evil Qi.

For Shen Bai, it posed no threat at all.

But there was sothing strange about this aberration.

Normally when he killed an aberration, it would dissolve into a wisp of black smoke and disappear.

But this ti was different.

Before his very eyes, the aberration had left behind its straw-woven garnt after dying.

Shen Bai stroked his chin and looked at Amber in his arms.

Now that the aberration was dead, Amber had lost its initial ferocity and cald down.

’There should be no more danger.’

Thinking this, Shen Bai walked toward the straw-woven clothes.

The closer he got, the brighter the surrounding moonlight seed to beco.

When Shen Bai reached the woven garnt, he nudged it with Cold Moon, his brow furrowing even deeper.

’It’s just an ordinary piece of clothing, but why was it left behind?’

The straw-woven garnt, from its weaving technique to its materials, was extrely crude.

Shen Bai stroked his chin and muttered to himself, "This thing is completely ordinary. Why would that aberration be wearing it?"

Shen Bai wasn’t particularly bothered by the encounter with the aberration.

After all, he had encountered many outrageous things, so even more bizarre than this.

So, Shen Bai paid it no mind.

Besides, gaining a wisp of Evil Qi was a net positive for him.

Finding nothing of interest, Shen Bai decided to take the straw-woven garnt and ask about it at the Observatory tomorrow.

Just then, a voice rang out abruptly.

"Don’t touch it!"

Shen Bai stopped and followed the sound, spotting a young man lounging on a nearby wall.

The man was dressed in the typical garb of a Jianghu person, his hair tied back ssily.

He was holding a wine gourd in his left hand, pouring a drink into his mouth.

"Who are you?" Shen Bai asked, his eyes narrowing.

The young man capped his wine gourd, hung it on his belt, and jumped down from the wall. He lost his footing upon landing and nearly stumbled to the ground.

Once the young man steadied himself, he took a Copper Token from his waist and flashed it at Shen Bai.

"I’m a Ghost Hunter. Na’s Chen Xiaotian. I tracked this aberration all the way here, which just so happened to lead to Fenglin State," Chen Xiaotian said. "By the way, who are you?"

Shen Bai glanced down at his own waist. "Who am I? You haven’t figured it out yet?"

The Ghost Hunters were a very unique organization. Shen Bai knew of them, as he had done a fair bit of research before.

The Observatory had many missions, and when they were short-staffed, so would be posted for outsiders.

This was how the Ghost Hunters ca to be.

They accepted these missions to earn rewards from the Observatory. It was simple and straightforward.

Shen Bai recognized it. This Ghost Hunter nad Chen Xiaotian was likely a Copper dal Ghost Hunter.

Above them were Silver, Gold, and Jade Tokens.

Hearing Shen Bai’s words, Chen Xiaotian subconsciously glanced at Shen Bai’s waist and instantly sobered up.

"So you are a Lord Ding Shou from the Observatory! I, Chen Xiaotian, greet you, my lord. I don’t believe I caught your na."

As far as Ghost Hunters were concerned, they earned their keep from the Observatory, so it was only natural to be respectful when eting one of its mbers.

"My na is Shen Bai. You can just call Shen Bai." He pointed to the straw clothes on the ground and asked, "You said you were tracking this aberration. Does one of this level really need to be tracked?"

Chen Xiaotian nodded. "Lord Shen, this is just a fraction of the full aberration. This one is special; it moves by attaching itself to certain people."

Shen Bai stroked his chin. "How so? Explain in detail."

Chen Xiaotian opened his mouth, about to speak.

But just then, sothing felt wrong.

Shen Bai’s eyebrow twitched. He thrust his sword straight at Chen Xiaotian’s throat, his speed catching him completely off guard.

Shen Bai’s voice reached Chen Xiaotian’s ears.

"Fake. Far too fake. Which faction sent you? The Wild Taoist Sect? Or the Wild Buddha Sect?"
