Wuhua looked left and right, then continued, "Donor Shen, this ti it won’t just be Xuanxin Temple participating. Qingyun Cloud Temple will be involved as well."
’Qingyun Cloud Temple?’
Shen Bai rubbed his chin. "It’s been a while since I’ve heard that na."
’Co to think of it, I don’t think I’ve run into anyone from Qingyun Cloud Temple since that incident at the city gate. If Wuhua hadn’t suddenly brought it up today, I would have even forgotten that Qingyun Cloud Temple existed in Fenglin State.’
The ntion of Qingyun Cloud Temple reminded Shen Bai of the Celestial Purity Daoist Temple.
’That was the group that nearly destroyed its own legacy for the people of Fenglin State. During Xuanxin Temple’s Buddhist Teachings assembly, I think they said they had a favor to ask. They were supposed to bring the Celestial Purity Daoist Temple’s Copper Mirror to for so answers later on. But so far, the Celestial Purity Daoist Temple hasn’t shown up.’
Huang Guang lowered his voice. "Lord Shen, should we drive the people from Qingyun Cloud Temple away?"
Shen Bai shook his head. "No need. Just keep a close watch on them."
If Qingyun Cloud Temple didn’t co looking for trouble, Shen Bai couldn’t be bothered to start anything. He was lazy like that.
But if they did want to cause trouble, he had plenty of free ti now that there wasn’t much Evil Qi to deal with. Shen Bai would be happy to play along.
Wuhua and Shen Bai chatted for a few more monts before Wuhua left the street.
Soon, Shen Bai began his daily patrol.
...
「A night passed just like that.」
When morning ca, Shen Bai had Huang Guang continue the patrol with his n while he found a breakfast stall and sat down to eat.
Today was the first day of the state celebration.
Since it was still early, only a few scattered breakfast stalls were open.
A little later, however, the day would beco the liveliest of the year for Fenglin State.
"Sir, this is a complintary snack for today."
The owner’s face was beaming with joy as he brought a snack over to Shen Bai’s table.
Shen Bai smiled. "Oh? What’s the special occasion?"
He had never been to this stall before, but the owner’s delight didn’t seem to stem from his official status.
The owner scratched his head, a simple, honest smile on his face. "Things are usually a bit tight, but since the state celebration is starting, we have to make things a little more festive. My shop relies on the neighborhood’s support, so think of this as giving back."
Shen Bai took a bite. "Thank you, owner."
The owner looked almost timid. "Please, enjoy your al, sir. I’ll get back to work."
Watching the owner walk away, Shen Bai found himself in a good mood as well.
Three wisps of Evil Qi appeared before Shen Bai’s eyes.
Last night, Shen Bai had encountered two more shadow monsters, bringing his total to three wisps of Evil Qi.
Shen Bai used the Evil Qi as he ate.
A wisp of Evil Qi vanished, and Shen Bai’s Casting Technique began its first qualitative transformation.
Wisps of smoke drifted and swirled, gradually coalescing into new text before his eyes.
[Spirit Casting Technique Level 3 (Casting 4, Fault Tolerance 4, Commander 4): 0/5000]
As the new text took shape, a familiar, ethereal figure appeared in Shen Bai’s mind.
The figure was once again inside a smithy.
On the anvil before it lay an assortnt of casting materials.
The figure extended a hand, and in the next mont, a hamr landed in its grasp.
CLANG!
A crisp ring echoed out. The figure, like a tireless machine, gripped the black hamr and struck the materials again and again.
Before long, a jet-black longsword began to take shape under the figure’s relentless hamring.
Quenching, hamring...
The figure executed various smithing techniques to perfection. Every swing of the hamr sent sparks flying.
A mont later, the figure’s movents ceased. After a final quench and another series of steps, a longsword shimring with a cold light appeared in its hand.
The figure swung the longsword.
With no discernible extra movent, the longsword sliced through the air, leaving a crescent-shaped wave of Sword Qi that reduced the building ahead to rubble.
"Unmatched in casting, master of all arms."
Before him, the figure gradually faded, and the dark smithy blurred.
When everything ca back into focus, Shen Bai opened his eyes and finished the complintary snack in his bowl with a single bite.
This ti, after its first qualitative transformation, the Casting Technique had beco the Spirit Casting Technique.
Besides doubling its original attributes, it had also gained a new attribute: Commander.
This "Commander" attribute was just what it sounded like.
Shen Bai could perfectly wield anything he forged, and even use it beyond its normal capabilities.
Of course, there was a prerequisite: he had to know how to use it in the first place.
If Shen Bai were to forge a saber but didn’t know any Sword Skill, he wouldn’t get the bonus from the Commander attribute.
’In other words, I need to reforge Cold Moon,’ Shen Bai thought.
Now that his Spirit Casting Technique had undergone a qualitative transformation, he could reforge Cold Moon.
Shen Bai rubbed his chin, placed so silver coins on the table, and walked out onto the street.
By now, the number of people on the streets was starting to increase.
Shen Bai even saw a few monks from Xuanxin Temple setting up stalls to give away free congee.
The dayti was for bustling gatherings, but the main event was at night: the state celebration ceremony.
It would be hosted by the most prestigious rchants from each street and would feature nurous performances.
Shen Bai thought for a mont, then found a mber of the Ding Division. "Tell them that if anything cos up, they can find at the smithy later."
Now that he had the Spirit Casting Technique, Shen Bai naturally wanted to upgrade Cold Moon right away.
However, the Spirit Casting Technique required various smithing tools. Since Shen Bai couldn’t just go out and buy them all at a mont’s notice, a smithy was the perfect choice.
