Li Yun sneered, "Wang Tianxing, you’re out of chances. If you cause any more trouble, there won’t be any position left to demote you to. You’ll just be expelled from the Academy, and you know the consequences of that."
"Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re the Academy’s prized genius."
Wang Tianxing chuckled. "Geniuses *can* do whatever they want. You got a problem with that? If you do, feel free to ignore the Academy’s arrangents and refuse to cooperate with ."
Li Yun closed his eyes, ignoring Wang Tianxing, as if to say it was all beneath his notice.
Wang Tianxing curled his lip. "You Academy types are all so serious. In my opinion, you’re more normal when you’re going crazy. When you’re not, you just look like a bunch of old fossils. Shen Bai is way more interesting than you."
"Why must you provoke him?" Li Yun finally couldn’t help but ask. "The Academy’s directive was to lay low for now. After all, he’s terrifyingly powerful. We’re supposed to complete the plan first."
Wang Tianxing gave him a strange look. "You don’t even know what the plan is, so why are you spouting all this nonsense?"
Li Yun was taken aback, his mouth twitching slightly as he clenched his fists.
After pouring himself a cup of wine and drinking it, Wang Tianxing looked in the direction Shen Bai’s carriage had gone and smiled. "I’ve set up a few trials for him. The first one is coming up soon. Let’s just see how he manages to pass it."
"This is so much fun. I’ve never t anyone this entertaining."
Li Yun’s fists clenched even tighter, but thinking of the mission the Academy had given him, he held himself back.
Wang Tianxing set down his wine cup. "You can’t beat anyway, so don’t stand there gritting your teeth. It’s annoying."
Li Yun let out a long breath. After taking a few deep breaths, he finally asked, "What exactly are these trials you’ve designed for him? You can at least tell that, can’t you?"
Wang Tianxing gave a wicked grin. "A very fun little test. He’s about to hit the first one. I call it ’Destiny’s Choice.’ We’ll just have to see what he picks. Co on, have a drink."
Wang Tianxing picked up a wine cup, poured a drink, and handed it to Li Yun. "Relax. Don’t be so serious. It’s just a mission."
Li Yun took the cup and, after a mont’s thought, took a drink.
But as soon as he had a mouthful, he spat it out instantly.
"What is this stuff?" Li Yun demanded.
Wang Tianxing roared with laughter. "What else could it be? Horse piss. Don’t people always call bad wine ’horse piss’? So I wanted to see which one tastes better, the real thing or the wine."
Li Yun shot to his feet. "You’re fucking insane! Are you drinking horse piss too?"
Wang Tianxing gave Li Yun an odd look. "I enjoy doing research, but I don’t experint on myself. I’m drinking wine, of course. You’re the one drinking horse piss."
Li Yun’s expression was stormy.
Wang Tianxing chuckled gleefully. "Yes, yes, that’s the look I like! This is just too much fun."
"Maniac!" Li Yun spat out.
"Aren’t we all?" Wang Tianxing rested his hand on the windowsill, propping his chin on his palm. "Who from the Academy isn’t a maniac?"
Li Yun said no more, sitting back down with a grim expression.

Ouyang Sword drove the carriage, but after a good deal of searching around, they still hadn’t found a suitable place to stay.
The inns were all full, and they weren’t the type to force their way in. In the end, following Shen Bai’s idea, they found a business association in Yunxi State.
This business handled property rentals and sales. When the Shopkeeper saw that Shen Bai and Ouyang Sword were wearing official uniforms, he imdiately ca forward to greet them.
After so simple paperwork, the two of them had rented a place.
The place they rented was simple: just two rooms and a dining area.
Because the rooms were quite basic, they hadn’t been cleaned. Ouyang Sword, however, was diligent and imdiately started cleaning the place.
Shen Bai helped out as well.
By the ti they finished cleaning, almost an hour had passed.
Only Amber looked left and right, as if she had never seen her master do chores before.
After the two finished cleaning, it was already well into the afternoon.
Shen Bai tossed the cleaning rag onto the table and said, "Brother Ouyang, let’s go. We should head out for so dinner and experience the local culture of Yunxi State."
Ouyang Sword nodded. "I was just getting hungry. Let’s go. This al’s on ."
Shen Bai picked up Amber and left the room with Ouyang Sword.

The street outside led to another one packed with all sorts of food vendors.
Yunxi State was the most prosperous and lively of the State-level Cities, so naturally, delicious food was everywhere.
Shen Bai and Ouyang Sword browsed for a while before stopping at a stall and ordering three dishes and a soup.
Before long, their food arrived.
Shen Bai picked up his bowl and chopsticks. Just as he was about to eat, he saw a little girl in a small, padded jacket walking toward him, holding a letter.
Shen Bai stroked his chin and put his bowl down. Once the girl was close, he asked,
"Little girl, are you looking for ?"
The little girl had ignored everything else and made a beeline straight for him, so Shen Bai guessed she must be here for him.
The little girl was a bit shy and kept her head down timidly, but she still mustered up her courage and placed the letter in her hand on the table.
"Big Brother, another Big Brother told to give you this letter. He said it has sothing very important inside and that you should take a look."
Shen Bai picked up the envelope and studied it for a mont. There was no signature or writing on it.
He asked, "What did the Big Brother who asked you to give this letter look like?"
The little girl tried her best to rember, then shook her head. "I don’t know, but he told to tell you, Big Brother, that his na is Wang Tianxing."
Shen Bai’s eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint flashing within them.
’That son of a bitch. He still hasn’t forgotten about causing trouble for .’
He casually took out a few copper coins, placed them in the little girl’s palm, and waited for her to leave before he finally picked up the letter.
Under Ouyang Sword’s curious gaze, Shen Bai opened the letter.
The contents were brief, but after Shen Bai finished reading, he felt a surge of killing intent.
