Now reading: Chapter 23: The Next Trial: Deserted Island Castaway from I Can Hear Pokémon’s Thoughts, a Action novel by Bagga10.

"This is the reward for being the first to ta a Pokémon in this session."

Instructor Viper casually transferred 1,000 credits to Feng Che's account.

"Spend these credits where they count; don't be stingy. Otherwise, you might find it hard to get another chance to use them later," Viper added with a aningful look.

"Furthermore, you've passed the preliminary evaluation. Be at this training field at exactly 9:00 AM in three days. We will proceed to the next stage of the trial here."

Having said his piece, Viper fell silent, refusing to elaborate.

The way Instructor Viper puts it makes it sound like I might go and never co back, Feng Che thought, feeling a bit speechless.

As he walked out of the training grounds, he nearly collided with a stunning redhead. It was the sa woman who had stood still with him during the Pokémon selection. Her figure was graceful, and her fiery red eyes held a srizing allure.

A small bird perched on her shoulder. It was a Fletchling. It had a reddish-orange head with yellow triangular markings behind each eye. Its body and wings were grey, tipped with white, and it possessed a long black tail with white V-shaped patterns at the end.

Fletchling was a Normal/Flying type, but its evolution, Fletchinder, gained the Fire sub-type. Despite its cute appearance, Fletchling was notoriously difficult to handle. It was extrely wary of humans and possessed a timid nature; if startled, it might go several days without eating or drinking.

Team Rocket even has Pokémon native to the Kalos region, Feng Che noted thoughtfully.

Fletchling is actually quite a bit weaker than Pidgey in the early stages, and raising one requires significant resources. Either this woman has massive backing, or she's incredibly confident in her skills.

Pokémon: Fletchling Gender: Female Potential: Excellence (Green) Ability: Gale Wings Level: 10 Type: Normal / Flying Moves: Peck, Growl, Quick Attack, Ember, Flail Status: Joyful

Feng Che gave the woman a passing glance and hurried out of the arena. He wanted to find Jessica to fish for information regarding the next phase of training so he could buy specific equipnt. If he wasn't targeted in his purchases, his current credits might not be enough.

"Alice, you're here. A pity you only managed second place," Viper said as the Fletchling hopped playfully on the woman's shoulder.

The woman held out her right hand, and the Fletchling hopped onto it, gently pecking her thumb like a chick feeding on grain.

"The second person to ta their Pokémon receives a 500-credit reward." Viper spoke warmly, addressing her by na. It was clear he and Alice were well-acquainted.

"It's a sha. If you had picked a more powerful Pokémon, it would have helped you pass the trial more easily," Viper said with a hint of regret.

"I wanted a Charmander too, but they aren't available in the preliminaries," Alice replied coolly, her voice like a flower on a high ridge—beautiful but distant. "Even if they were, they'd be snatched up instantly. This Fletchling has decent potential; it'll be worth the investnt in the long run."

"Besides, you know my combat skills, Instructor. As long as I don't provoke anything too monstrous, passing this evaluation shouldn't be an issue."

She looked toward the exit. "I assu that person just now took first place." She hadn't really caught a glimpse of what the man looked like. "Give the credits; I need to buy more gear."

Alice knew what the next trial entailed, and she needed to be prepared.

Feng Che found a café within the Rocket base. As he walked in, a sophisticated blonde woman brushed past him. Suddenly, he felt a letter being slipped into his jacket. He saw her give him a subtle wink.

He realized imdiately that the woman was Jessica. She had disguised herself beyond recognition to avoid being followed.

The trial details are confidential, Feng Che realized. That's why she had to use a disguise to leak the information to .

He sipped his coffee slowly, admiring the view of the street for a while before opening the note. It was a postcard-sized slip with elegant handwriting.

Lucky Little Brother,

I can only tell you this: the next trial is 'Deserted Island Castaway.' Please prepare yourself. Destroy this note after reading.

A deserted island, huh? Feng Che rubbed his temples. If I don't handle this right, I could easily end up 'cooling' out there.

He tore the note into tiny shreds and dropped them into the mouth of a Gulpin sitting under the table. The Pokémon world's most unique feature was the lack of trash cans; they employed Gulpin and Grir to act as living incinerators. After watching the Gulpin's stomach acid dissolve the paper, he left the café.

The the is survival on a deserted island. That ans a place devoid of human life.

I don't know if the organization will provide Poké Balls, but I need to have a few of my own ready. It would be embarrassing to find a rare Pokémon and have nothing to catch it with.

He took another lap through the Trading Market. By the ti he was done, his spatial bracelet was packed with new supplies:

A windproof lighter.High-tensile rope.A survival tent.A seawater desalinator.A portable solar photovoltaic generator.A portable underwater breathing apparatus.6 Standard Poké Balls.

Most of these items were rare and expensive; he had spent the majority of his remaining credits to secure them.
