"Excellent, Newmoon Island has manifested."
Feng Che maneuvered the submarine, slowly backing away. He retreated several dozen kiloters before the black mist finally stopped expanding. The mist began to solidify, gradually taking the form of a desolate island.
The surrounding currents grew incredibly turbulent, with massive whirlpools erupting from the seabed. By the ti Feng Che surfaced, Newmoon Island was completely encircled by towering waterspouts that touched the heavens. Dark clouds blotted out the sky, and jagged, crimson lightning struck incessantly toward the island's center.
"I see... this Newmoon Island isn't a physical entity in the traditional sense," wtwo noted, its eyes glowing with psychic intensity. "It is a projection. Darkrai is using its Nightmare Realm to manifest a reflection of the Newmoon Island from the Reverse World into our reality."
"It seems this Darkrai is trying to bring sothing out of the dinsion ruled by Giratina," wtwo continued. "The violent weather isn't a feature of the island; it's the natural rejection of the Pokémon world itself. If the island can successfully stabilize, it ans it has passed the world's 'test,' and Darkrai will be permitted to exist permanently in the physical realm."
Feng Che nodded thoughtfully. "I've heard theories about this. Using a Nightmare Realm to retrieve things lost in the Reverse World... but the process is suicidal. Beyond the risk of Giratina's wrath, one has to withstand the concentrated fury of the world's laws."
"Let's make landfall first. We'll decide our next move once we're on the ground."
Feng Che recalled the submarine and, protected by wtwo's psychic barrier, plunged into the howling gale. Even with wtwo's support, the suction of the waterspouts was imnse.
"The entry fee for this place is steep," Feng Che muttered as they breached the storm wall. "You practically need a Psychic-type Mythical just to get through the door. No wonder those who ca here before never returned; ninety-nine percent of them probably drowned or were crushed by the pressure before they even saw the beach."
For this expedition, Feng Che had brought his absolute heavy hitters. He had even used a specialized transfer through the Galarian Slowking back at the nursery to bring the Zeraora family to his side.
The Guardian of the Egg
They landed on a scarred, barren landscape. Red, jagged lightning was systematically tearing the island apart. High in the air, a Darkrai was hovering, its shadow-like body wreathed in dark energy as it desperately intercepted the bolts.
Behind the Darkrai, a black-misted Pokémon egg sat nestled in a protective crater.
Darkrai: I must hold on... I will not let my offspring wander aimlessly in the Reverse World forever. They deserve a future in the light.
Feng Che focused his system's appraisal on the legendary figure.
Na: Darkrai
Gender: Female
Aptitude: Legendary (Deep Blue)
Level: ???
Attributes: Dark
Evaluation: Extrely powerful, approaching the tier of a True God. Known as the Lord of Nightmares in the Reverse World, she commands a domain that borders on absolute authority.
Even the system can't read her level, Feng Che thought, imdiately discarding any reckless ideas of a "forceful" capture. Picking a fight with a legendary Darkrai on her ho turf—while she was already fighting the world itself—was a recipe for disaster. Even wtwo would be at a disadvantage against the Dark-type resonance here.
Darkrai: Curse it... a powerful Mythical and a human have breached the veil. If I hadn't been wounded by Giratina, I would never have let them step foot in my realm.
Distracted by their presence, Darkrai was struck by several crimson bolts. She shrieked in pain, her form flickering. She quickly forced the destructive current out of her body, refocusing all her will on the sky.
"Feng Che, release the Zeraora," wtwo suggested. "This crimson lightning is 'Destruction Lightning.' If they can absorb and rge with it, their combat power will reach a whole new level."
Darkrai was busy with the massive bolts, leaving the smaller, stray strikes to ravage the island.
"Go! Zeraora, Kuro, Shiro!"
Three streaks of light burst from their balls.
"Feng Che, where is this?" the lead Zeraora asked, its fur already crackling. "This red lightning... it calls to ."
"This is Newmoon Island. Those bolts are the world's judgnt. See if you and the little ones can consu them."
Kuro and Shiro, the offspring, didn't wait. They beca blurs of black and white light, intercepting the smaller bolts. Kuro shattered a crimson strike mid-air, inhaling the ionized fragnts. Shiro simply stood in a shower of sparks, its fur standing on end as it acted as a living battery.
The lead Zeraora aid higher, slamming into a thick bolt. With the three of them acting as lightning rods, the pressure on the island—and Darkrai—dropped significantly.
Darkrai: Are these mortals... helping ? Whatever their intent, the pressure is lifting.
As the destruction eased, tiny green sprouts began to push through the blackened soil.
"It's working," wtwo noted. "To stabilize the island, it must beco 'alive.' By eating the destruction, the Zeraora are allowing the island's life force to bloom. As the island grows stronger, Darkrai's Nightmare Realm grows more stable in this reality."
Just as the balance shifted, the black-misted Pokémon egg suddenly drifted down from the sky, landing softly on the moss right beside Feng Che.
