The young woman was about Zhao Rui’s age, with fair skin and a lovely face. To the average person, she looked exactly like a pretty young Female Knight straight out of a TV series.
But Zhao Rui was used to seeing pretty girls, so he wasn’t particularly struck by her beauty.
"I’m here to see Ol— uh, Nun Lejing!"
Zhao Rui put on what he believed was a warm and gentle smile.
"Then why didn’t you use the main gate?"
The young woman wasn’t swayed by Zhao Rui’s appearance. Her eyes narrowed, her face a mask of vigilance.
"Uh..."
"I don’t know the way to the main gate!"
Zhao Rui was a little speechless. ’Doesn’t everyone co this way?’
"Don’t you move!"
After speaking, the young woman fumbled for a phone on the ground and started to make a call.
Probably calling for backup.
Zhao Rui wasn’t in a hurry, though. He just waited quietly for people from the Ei Sword Sect to co and "welco" him.
After finishing the call, the young woman continued to watch Zhao Rui warily, her longsword never leaving its position three inches above the ground.
It was probably a stance from a swordsmanship technique, sothing like the Liao Sword Technique.
"Do you have a girl here nad Bai Xuening?"
Since he was just waiting around anyway, Zhao Rui decided to ask about his acquaintance.
He hadn’t had a chance to ask the last ti he was here.
However, he wasn’t sure if Bai Xuening was in the Ei Sword Sect or the Ei Sect.
Besides, with her "trash" level of skill, it was doubtful she’d even be qualified to enter the rear mountain.
"You know Bai Xuening?"
The young woman was taken aback. Her almond-shaped eyes narrowed slightly as she asked with curiosity.
"She’s my high school classmate. See? I’m not a bad guy!"
Zhao Rui spread his hands. Just as he was about to ask another question or two, he heard the sound of hurried yet light footsteps approaching.
Clearly, the newcors possessed extraordinary Lightweight Skill.
He turned his body slightly and focused his gaze. A mont later, a group of won in flowing white, form-fitting outfits appeared in his line of sight.
"Wan Ting!"
The leader was a woman of about thirty. Her looks were rather plain, but her Power was impressive. With a flicker of her body, she leaped onto the high cliff and landed in front of the young woman.
"Senior Sister Xuan Si, that’s him! He snuck over from the other side!"
The young woman pointed at Zhao Rui, her expression serious as she spoke.
"Hey, watch your wording. We’re in the great Huaxia Land, under open skies. How can you talk about ’sneaking over’?"
After speaking, Zhao Rui cupped his fist in salute and said, "I have so business with Nun Lejing. I’d appreciate it if you’d announce my arrival."
"You’re looking for my martial aunt? Why did you sneak over from the other side?"
"This is how I ca last ti! Ma’am, just announce . What’s the big deal? It’s not like you don’t have phones. Here, take out your phone and snap a picture of my handso face."
"Send it to Nun Lejing and tell her an old friend from the base of the cliff has co to visit. How about it? Ma’am!"
Zhao Rui was starting to get annoyed.
All this back-and-forth... it wasn’t like a blind date interview.
"Ma’am?"
Hearing this, the group of sword-wielding Ei Disciples standing guard nearby were all stunned.
Then, they broke into faint, amused smiles.
"An old friend from the base of the cliff?"
The middle-aged woman shot a glare at the other disciples before turning to Zhao Rui and saying, "Wait here a mont!"
And with that, she actually took out her phone and snapped a formal, straight-on picture of Zhao Rui.
But a mont later, after fiddling with her phone for a bit, the woman suddenly bellowed, "Sword Array! Slay the evil!"
The words had barely left her mouth when the Ei Disciples—who had just been looking at Zhao Rui with amusent—suddenly blurred into motion. They moved according to a specific pattern, each taking her position before charging at Zhao Rui with swords drawn.
Zhao Rui was stunned. He hadn’t expected these won to turn on him so suddenly.
He instantly flickered, using his footwork to evade several longswords while simultaneously flicking his fingers, sending a Sword Pointing attack at the won.
These Ei Disciples were clearly no slouches. Wielding their Sword Techniques, they not only blocked his Sword Pointing but even managed to gather power for a counterattack.
[Detectable Martial Arts found: Nine Yang Seven Tribulations Array. Copy?]
At the sa ti, a system notification chid in Zhao Rui’s mind.
’A Sword Array can be copied, too?’
Elated, Zhao Rui hurriedly selected the copy option.
At the sa ti, he executed the Wandering Dragon Step, weaving his body between the blades of the Ei Disciples.
But the array’s assault was relentless. As one sword fell, another would rise. The seven won seed to be linked by telepathy, their attacks rising and falling in succession, covering one another’s flanks.
After struggling for a few monts, Zhao Rui’s brow was already furrowed in a tight frown.
’What a formidable Sword Array!’
If he hadn’t learned Elder Ge’s Dipper Step, which allowed him to dodge within inches of a blade, he doubted he could have handled this so easily with just the Wandering Dragon Step and his other Lightweight Skills.
’This array incorporates the principles of Yi Li, a path of Yin and Yang transformations. That’s not sothing a Buddhist sect like the one on Mount Ei should know, is it?’
While Zhao Rui was surprised by the formation’s profound ingenuity, the others were even more astonished by the excellence of his Martial Arts.
He looked so young, yet he had managed to hold out in the array for so long, and even seed to be doing so with ease.
The middle-aged woman couldn’t help but frown.
’This is getting difficult to resolve gracefully.’
Her original plan was just to put him in his place, capture him, and then take him to her martial aunt.
But...
As the middle-aged woman hesitated, an image surfaced in Zhao Rui’s mind: the Old Demon who had once snuck into the Ei Sword Sect, moving with complete ease among the Ei Disciples as if they weren’t even there.
’Truly enviable.’
Unfortunately, being on Mount Ei, he didn’t dare to recklessly use the Heavenly Demon Illusionary Sound Technique.
The Charm Immortal Technique, however, was another matter.
As his figure flickered, the Ei Disciples in front of him would suddenly grow dazed, their movents becoming montarily sluggish.
Although it was only for an instant, it ant Zhao Rui no longer had to put so much effort into dodging. He could use these small openings to advance and retreat with ease.
Naturally, his movents beca more fluid and agile.
"Rational Burning Vermilion Bird, Qian Jiu’s Transformation! Junior sisters, withdraw the array!"
The middle-aged woman had also noticed sothing was amiss and quickly halted her junior sisters’ assault.
"You think you can just attack and retreat as you please? Who gave you that idea?"
There was no way Zhao Rui would let them leave. He hadn’t finished learning the Cultivation Technique yet.
