"Jarvis, co out!"
In a dim and damp cell behind the Beast Fighting Arena in the southern part of the Jialan Imperial Capital, a staff mber of the arena shouted into the cell.
Soon after, there was a rustling sound of chains colliding from inside.
Then a man, dressed in tattered clothes and with a sallow complexion, slowly erged from the darkness.
The arena staff shouted at the man:
"It'll be your turn to perform soon, today you're first."
"Prepare yourself."
Saying this, he stepped forward and took out a key to unlock the Magic Chains that entangled the man's body.
Throughout the process, the sallow-complexioned man remained silent.
When the staff had removed all the chains from him, he sighed from the heart and said:
"I hope I'll still see you later."
Looking at the man before him, despite being filthy and disheveled, with eyes still clear and bright, the staff could only say helplessly:
"I've actually heard about your situation."
He spoke cautiously, as if afraid others might hear:
"In this world, nothing is more important than staying alive."
"Sotis, what is called dignity ans nothing in the face of life."
"Nobles are not sothing us ordinary people can contend with."
"With your Martial Sect strength, you could have had a better life than this."
Having said that, he patted the man's shoulder maturely and solemnly:
"If you manage to walk out alive this ti, I hope you can let go of your so-called pride."
"So people are destined to be beyond the likes of us ordinary folk to offend."
After these words, the staff mber no longer expected a response and turned to leave.
Watching the staff leave, hatred surfaced in the man's eyes.
In the shadows, Jarvis muttered to himself:
"Do those high and mighty think they can do as they please and decide others' life and death at will?"
He looked at the iron gate not far away, bitterness in his words:
"Too bad I couldn't kill him."
"Just an ignorant wretch."
In the VIP stands of the arena, a man dressed in brocade robes with a potbelly sneered:
"Rumor has it that this boy has a rather pretty sister at ho."
"Too bad we couldn't extract her whereabouts from him, really served him right."
He wore a knowing smile that all n understood.
The surrounding affluent and noble n and won laughed along with him.
It seed as if the man was not talking about living, breathing lives but sothing trivial.
Everyone around appeared to take this in stride, treating it as if it were nothing at all.
Even those well-dressed ladies and noblewon acted no differently.
And as everyone chatted and awaited the start of the duel, an untily voice suddenly ca from behind them:
"I'm curious about how he offended you, could you share?"
Everyone turned to look.
They saw a stranger sitting behind them.
Beside him sat, that was...
Viscount Anand imdiately recognized the person beside him as Eldest Prince Charles from the Ao Sheng Empire.
On the other side was the young lady of Linlang Pavilion!
Even though Ling Yuwei's face was veiled, as a Viscount of Jialan City, Anand could not fail to recognize this stunning beauty.
Evidently, Anand hadn't expected to encounter these lofty figures here.
He promptly greeted Charles with respect, saying:
"Prince Charles!"
Even though Charles was not a prince of the Jialan Empire, and the relationship between the two empires was not without tension.
Yet, nonetheless.
The upper echelon from Jialan City had to show the due respect.
Even if Charles was not a prince of the Jialan Empire, making him unhappy could likewise cause trouble.
The others around, hearing Anand's words, quickly reacted and wanted to pay their respects.
But Charles, aware of his identity's special nature, stopped them directly, saying:
"Everyone sit down."
"Today, I'm here to enjoy like everyone, no need for formalities."
Though everyone sat back down, it was obvious to see.
People were still glancing over intentionally or unintentionally, discussing sothing.
Neither Charles, Lin Yi, nor Ling Yuwei paid any attention, already used to being in the spotlight.
Although Anand sat back down, he didn't want to miss this rare opportunity to speak with Charles, and warmly said:
"Your Highness, coming here is really worthwhile."
"If I recall correctly, you can't witness such an exciting performance in Ao Sheng City."
Anand pointed to the huge arena below, pride on his face, and said:
"This is the largest Beast Fighting Arena in the Jialan Empire."
"All the challengers are Tier Four and above, full of excitent."
However, facing Anand's enthusiasm, Charles only replied perfunctorily.
Yet in the next mont, Lin Yi's voice chid in again:
"Viscount, you haven't explained how Jarvis offended you?"
"Could you share?"
Hearing this, Anand looked at Lin Yi puzzled:
"Who are you, sir?"
Lin Yi glanced at Charles beside him and smiled slightly:
"I am with him."
Although Lin Yi did not reveal his identity.
However, anyone who could be with Charles and the young lady of Linlang Pavilion surely has an extraordinary identity.
Perhaps due to Lin Yi's words 'together', Anand and those around him assud Lin Yi was also a noble from the Ao Sheng Empire.
Hence, for the mont, no one considered Lin Yi's identity as the mysterious Jialan King.
Facing Lin Yi's skepticism, Anand casually remarked:
"Actually, it's nothing much."
"Just an ignorant peasant."
Lin Yi looked enlightened:
"Oh~"
"How did the ignorant one offend the Viscount like you?"
Anand was surprised at Lin Yi's interest in such matters.
Originally, Anand didn't intend to elaborate, but he started explaining:
"It's said that the kid obtained a spiritual artifact sowhere."
"That thing can greatly enhance one's power in a short ti without any side effects."
"I intended to buy that artifact from him."
"But who would have thought the kid not only refused but dared to publicly insult ."
"Such an insolent peasant naturally doesn't deserve to live."
Speaking, Anand crossed his arms, gazing coldly at the duel arena below, sneering:
"Unfortunately, at the Punishnt Bureau, the Chief Judge didn't heed my request to execute him, only sentencing him to twenty years."
Upon saying this, Anand suddenly laughed with pride:
"I never expected."
"The kid actually dared to apply for beast fighting, which surprised ."
He waved the betting ticket in his hand, saying:
"Anyway, at least he can earn so money before dying, which isn't bad."
At this mont, soone beside him was curious:
"Viscount Anand, did you eventually find that spiritual artifact you ntioned?"
"Hearing this makes kind of interested too."
Anand shook his head regretfully:
"The kid is very tight-lipped."
"He didn't disclose where the spiritual artifact is."
"But soone told that the artifact might be with his half-sister."
"Whether it's true, I don't know."
"Now my people are searching for its whereabouts; I believe there will be news soon."
At this point, that person hastily said:
"If that's the case, I hope the Viscount will let see it."
"About the price, rest assured I'll be generous."
Upon hearing this, Anand burst into laughter:
"Alright, alright."
"I'll surely bring it to your mansion then."
As Anand continued chatting with those around him, he seed to forget about Lin Yi and the others sitting behind him.
However, Lin Yi didn't mind,
because after hearing Anand's lukewarm explanation,
Lin Yi's heart was already deeply shaken by the laws of this world.
If it was really according to the Viscount's account.
Just because I didn't sell you sothing, you intend to kill .
What kind of nonsense logic is this?
This is nothing but robbery.
Lin Yi couldn't fathom how he managed to state this so grandiosely and confidently.
What baffled Lin Yi even more was the reaction of those around him.
Even Ling Yuwei, sitting beside Lin Yi, seed unbothered, maintaining a calm deanor.
Is this truly the survival law of this world?
Watching the figure speaking proudly ahead, Lin Yi even doubted.
Did he really want to buy at a high price as he claid?
Normally.
If the price were right, and knowing the identity gap clearly.
One would usually choose to compromise and not end up in such a sorry state, wouldn't they?
Reflecting on their actions has imdiately refreshed and overturned Lin Yi's understanding.
Lin Yi suddenly rembered.
Isn't it said that the world is facing a massive threat from the demons of the Demon Forest?
While surrounded by external threats, the people here indulge in superiority, treating lives like grass.
One must know that Jarvis is a Tier Five Sword Sect!
Though seemingly not extraordinarily mighty.
But when demons invade.
A Tier Five Sword Sect could slay many demons for mankind, saving countless lives.
Yet such a vital force.
Is now facing extre injustice, dood to perish under human folly, becoming a source of entertainnt for these people.
Lin Yi can no longer imagine.
How many talented individuals without power or influence die unjustly by these useless people's hands here each day.
As Lin Yi watched the joyous faces of the noble guests around him, he felt a deep sense of lantation:
"Indeed, when heaven wants one to perish, it first drives them mad."
Under Ling Yuwei's shocked gaze, Lin Yi added contemplatively:
"When man seeks death, no one can stop them."
