System:
[Challenge begins]
At the instant the system indicated the start, the opponent unsurprisingly vanished without a trace.
This ti, Lin Yi did not choose to evade but imdiately activated a skill:
"Arcane·Magic Shield"
A circle of magic energy-emitting shield entirely enveloped Lin Yi.
anwhile, the mirror image had already appeared in front of Lin Yi, holding a Dragon Scale Sword aid at him.
If nothing unexpected happened, the next mont the Dragon Scale Sword would pierce through the magic shield and paralyze Lin Yi, who would then be defeated in an instant once again.
But just as the tip of the sword touched the edge of the magic shield, Lin Yi almost simultaneously activated a skill:
"Transformation Skill: Sli"
(When casting on a target, transform the target into a low-level creature Sli, lasting 10s; during the transformation, the target is invincible, unable to attack or be damaged.)
"Poof~"
A silly green Sli suddenly dropped in front of Lin Yi, allowing him to finally catch his breath.
Only face-to-face could he feel the imnse pressure the mirror image exerted on him, a pressure so great even Lin Yi couldn't believe how terrifying he could be.
After all, everything the mirror image had, Lin Yi himself possessed as well.
Yet the oppression the mirror image exerted on Lin Yi was sothing he had never experienced before.
It was hard to imagine this was another version of himself!
Because the level restricted Lin Yi from using any skills attached to equipnts.
As a result, Lin Yi could only use the skills he inherently possessed.
After transforming the opponent into a Sli, Lin Yi quickly distanced himself.
anwhile, Lin Yi kept a close eye on the Sli while nervously counting down the transformation duration:
"10, 9, …"
In the last two seconds before the Transformation Skill expired, Lin Yi first released a skill towards the Sli's position:
"Arcane Nova!"
A cluster of shimring energy novas kept descending on the Sli, and as they landed on its head, the display showed:
"-0" ineffective~
Just after Lin Yi unleashed 'Arcane Nova', he swiftly followed up with another skill:
"Arcane Burst"
As soon as a glowing sphere landed beside the Sli, the mont the mirror image reverted to its original form, the sphere exploded instantly:
"Boom~"
"-15105" critical strike~
anwhile, two energy novas conveniently hit the mirror image on its head:
"Bang bang~"
"-9450"
"-10457"
Seeing the mirror image's health drop by three-fifths, Lin Yi barely had ti to rejoice before the mirror image vanished again.
Lin Yi dared not be careless, but in the blink of an eye, he felt a chill down his spine:
"Instant Teleportation!"
Lin Yi appeared five feet away and:
Switched weapon
Gripping the Dragon Scale Longsword, Lin Yi turned around at his fastest speed and activated a skill:
"Arcane Impact!"
"Pfft~"
"-14134"
System: Passive paralysis effect triggered, your movent is restricted, lasts 1 second.
Lin Yi incredulously looked at the longsword piercing his chest, hearing for the first ti a taunt from the opponent:
"Too slow!"
"Damn it!"
Lin Yi stared in shock at the mirror image; did this guy actually talk?
And during this, another familiar combo landed, and Lin Yi's vision went black:
"Damn it!"
[Challenge failed]
When Lin Yi ca to, he found himself standing outside the Endless Tower.
Recalling his previous cloud flowing water-like predictions and actions, Lin Yi was full of disbelief:
'How could his moves be so fast?'
Lin Yi considered his prediction and actions almost perfect, yet in the end, he was still the one who died.
In that last mont Lin Yi recalled, had he been just a bit faster, his Dragon Scale Longsword would have pierced the opponent's body first.
Then, victory would surely have been his!
But alas, in this world there's no 'if,' and just that small gap led to his demise under the opponent's sword.
Lin Yi felt helpless and full of unwillingness.
However, Lin Yi knew that even if he tried again, he would still be the one to lose.
Because the previous attempt was already the current limit of Lin Yi's capabilities.
Since the "Instant Teleportation" skill can only be activated while possessing the Radiant Treasure Pearl.
So under Lin Yi's previous circumstances, to turn the battle around required switching weapons like the mirror image during teleportation, and imdiately attacking upon reappearance.
However, this was easier said than done; Lin Yi had tried countless tis to no avail.
Because the mont you activate the skill (Instant Teleportation), you're already at the target location, a process so fast your brain can't react.
Lin Yi stood at the Endless Tower's entrance, repeatedly analyzing all the potential possibilities and details of the previous match.
Then, an idea struck Lin Yi.
He then issued another challenge to the 50th floor.
This ti, the mont the system indicated the start, as usual, Lin Yi first shielded himself, then once again perford the familiar trick on the target:
"Transformation Skill: Sli"
This ti, after succeeding, instead of distancing himself, Lin Yi:
Switched weapon
Gripped the Dragon Scale Longsword while tensely counting down the transformation duration.
In the final second, Lin Yi imdiately attacked the Sli, activating a skill:
"Arcane Impact"
As the Dragon Scale Sword was about to hit the Sli, the transformation skill's duration ended, turning it back into the mirror image.
Seeing the Dragon Scale Sword about to pierce the mirror image's vital spot, a hint of delight welled up in Lin Yi's heart.
However, the next mont Lin Yi discovered in shock that he had only hit the mirror image's afterimage:
"Damn it! That fast!"
"Pfft~"
"-14504"
System: Passive paralysis effect triggered, your movent is restricted, lasts 1 second.
As soon as Lin Yi was hit by the opponent's skill, the delight on his face instantly turned into a wry smile:
"Damn it, how is this even playable!"
Soon Lin Yi once again found himself outside the Endless Tower, speechless for a long ti.
Even now, Lin Yi couldn't understand why the opponent's speed was so fast.
From turning into a Sli to reverting, there should have been a 0.5-second pause.
Lin Yi deed his timing to be precise, yet he still only hit the opponent's afterimage.
Did the opponent sohow bypass this half-second pause?
Lin Yi was utterly puzzled.
Could it be the special limitations of this level giving the opponent the upper hand?
Beside him, Jade Qilin witnessed the scene with a look suggesting words unspoken.
However, its face briefly expressed a struggle before returning to calm.
Lost in his thoughts, Lin Yi didn't notice Jade Qilin's unusual behavior, only seeing Jade Qilin heave a sigh before quietly resting on Lin Yi's shoulder.
After lingering at the dungeon entrance montarily, Lin Yi once again started a new round of challenges.
For the next day, Lin Yi was practically imrsed here in battles against mirror images.
During this ti, Lin Yi tried various thods, and there were even a few instances where he nearly defeated the mirror image, but unfortunately, he still ended up losing.
Though these battles seed monotonous and tedious, they indeed greatly enhanced Lin Yi's skills and reflexes.
The mirror image, like a precision machine, allowed Lin Yi to learn nurous tactics he had never noticed before.
While deep in engagent against the mirror image, it was not until the next afternoon that Dongfang Jing finally exited the instance.
The first thing Dongfang Jing did upon exiting was to find Lin Yi.
At a tavern in White Tiger City, Dongfang Jing approached Lin Yi.
"What instance were you in for over a day? I couldn't reach you."
Considering Dongfang Jing had not logged off for more than a day, Lin Yi suggested:
"If you're up for it, would you like to grab sothing to eat?"
Although the ga pods had nutrient solutions to supplent them and playing all day wouldn't have much impact on the body, the main reason to log off and eat dinner was to relax the mind.
Eating was secondary; logging off to rest and unwind was the priority.
However, Dongfang Jing, ignoring Lin Yi's suggestion, spoke with a tone that startled him:
"Have you ever thought about slaying a god?"
