Lake Benqi.
An impounded lake located at the western end of the Fuji Five Lakes.
Because it is one of the lakes that has not yet undergone large-scale tourism developnt, it still retains its original natural scenery, beautiful and serene... At least it should have been the case normally, but after Kaguya’s return, everything changed.
Once truly at the foot of Mount Fuji, finding the demon’s stronghold precisely was no longer a difficult task. The source of the evil energy was quite obvious in perception, not to ntion the giant Pentagram Array suspended in the sky—
From the center of each of the five lakes, a gigantic beam of light shot out, connecting the earth and sky in hues of red, orange, green, and blue, intersecting above Mount Fuji to form a massive pentagram pattern.
It was like a huge magic array hanging high above the mountain.
Directly below the magic array, it corresponded exactly to the location of Lake Benqi.
The massive mountain, which should have been picturesque, no longer possessed its usual grand and magnificent scenery. Instead, it was as if covered by a BBC Underworld filter, appearing incredibly dark and even ghostly.
A dark purple full moon hung in the sky.
In the atmosphere of eternal night, the outline of the massive mountain itself was like a silhouette beneath the sky, and a ghostly island had appeared on Lake Benqi at so unknown ti. Rows of ancient buildings stood along its steep cliffs, forming an old Japanese castle.
"Such a strong evil aura; the demon is indeed lurking here..."
On the distant lakeshore, the witch fixed her gaze on the ghostly island in the middle of the lake, eerie under nightfall and purple moonlight, along with the ancient castle standing above it. Then her eyes slightly lowered, looking at the vast expanse of the lake.
To the north of Mount Fuji lie the Fuji Five Lakes. From east to west are Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Sai, Lake Shoji, and the current Lake Benqi. Lake Benqi is not the largest, but it is the deepest, and normally the lake surface never freezes all year round, appearing a deep blue, exuding an unfathomable mysteriousness.
As for the current abnormal situation, it truly sends chills down one’s spine... The turbid, rolling waves, the pitch-black surface of the water, concealing who knows what kind of ghastly entity underneath.
Indeed, the lake surface was not calm, carrying a sense of turbulent danger with the high winds whipping fiercely. It felt like, at the Five Lakes, the water and the flowing wind were unaffected by the moonlight and frozen in ti... Gu Mo slightly raised an eyebrow, as if thinking of sothing.
"There’s sothing under the water; going over there like this would be troubleso," the witch said calmly.
Even without ntioning the powerful and keen spiritual sense for detecting energy, purely relying on eyesight, one could see the vague shadow of a massive entity under the vast, dark water surface. Presumably, in the depths of the water, an unknown gigantic creature was rampaging below.
The lake surface was raging, and undercurrents surged beneath the water.
Apart from the fierce and swift winds here, it seed more likely that a massive underwater creature was causing trouble. Kikyo calmly watched the lake surface, and under the dark water, there were similarly large, emotionless cold eyes, fixating on the two standing on the lakeshore.
"I rember there seed to be a dragon here... or so kind of large serpent?"
Gu Mo scratched his cheek, seriously recalling, but couldn’t co up with definitive details, only rembering that they seed to be multiple heads on one body... emmmmmm, probably a Nine-headed Serpent-like monster?
But it didn’t seem to have as many as nine heads, so it probably wasn’t that difficult...
And in the original fate, it seed like Kikyo parted the lake with an arrow, exposing the body of the lake monster, which eventually died under the Demon Blade Iron Shattering Fang... Otherwise, this alone would’ve been an impassable hurdle for the protagonist group, making it impossible to reach the Dream City in the lake.
Gu Mo blinked, looking at the wide lake surface, turbulent and stormy, then couldn’t help but turn to look at the cool-tempered witch beside him. Compared to the obviously magical purple moon, she gave more of a white moonlight feeling.
But such a slender woman possessed unimaginable power...
"What is it? Is sothing wrong?"
The witch gently frowned. Why was he looking at her with that kind of gaze again?
"Nothing, I was just thinking about how to get across. Use Death Soul Worms to fly us over or find a small boat?" Gu Mo replied nonchalantly.
He himself was slightly stunned because after saying such words, he suddenly realized he was indeed considering the feasibility of such a thing... A huge unknown monster lurking beneath the water, and the two of them slowly crossing on a small boat; even thinking about it would give an ordinary person a heart attack.
If it were his forr self, even seeing such a scene in a movie would instinctively feel suffocating.
But now, clearly imrsed in this setting, personally facing such a situation, and even knowing what was beneath, he was still seriously considering this thod... When had he beco so brave, or was he indeed unconsciously becoming a "Player"?
