Early morning the next day.
Yawning as he stepped out of his room, Gu Mo stretched his body with force, causing his bones to crackle softly. He grimaced, feeling uncomfortable all over, probably because he had slept too much.
"This can’t go on... When will the dumb system get its act together?"
He let out a long sigh, feeling rather headachey. The dumb system was very good and powerful, with amazingly advanced functions when running properly, whether it was fighting monsters to level up or automatic saving. It seed to be governed by so inexplicable mysterious law that surpassed everything.
But then, the abnormal parts were infuriating. Despite being such a powerful system, why do such basic errors occur, with endless bugs cropping up?
There are even inexplicable issues like network fluctuations. Would you believe it if it’s told?
All in all, it sends one’s blood pressure soaring.
Thinking about this, he waved his arms vigorously and rubbed his shoulders and neck. Sleeping voluntarily had the advantage of allocating his limited online ti; the downside was feeling uncomfortable all over as he did now, overly rested but feeling very unpleasant.
Since he forced himself to sleep, he had to rely on subjective effort, and it was difficult and exhausting when sleepiness was absent. Without forced offline instant sleep and high-quality rest that refreshes him with a full status upon waking, he felt more tired the more he slept, waking up many tis during the night...
Yawning again, he rubbed his sowhat groggy, sleepy eyes and casually waved to a servant passing down the corridor far away—
"Hi, good morning, may I ask... hmm, where can I wash up? Oh, and if possible, could you help find a mirror?"
......
About a quarter of an hour later.
Having washed up, Gu Mo returned to his room, sighed upon seeing the copper mirror added to the room. This era hadn’t popularized glass mirrors like those of later generations... However, looking at it from another angle, this might not be a bad thing. Perhaps, if there’s an opportunity in the future, he could be a cross-world trader or sothing.
—But as of now, it seems to be of no help to him.
Narrowing his eyes, he scrutinized the reflection of himself in the copper mirror. Gu Mo realized he might have misunderstood tallic mirrors due to TV shows’ influence. After all, scenes on TV often showed dimly lit human figures reflected in blurry, yellowish copper mirrors, literally "watching loneliness." It’s no wonder he thought that over ti.
But in fact, copper mirrors aren’t dim or blurry, they’re quite clear. Although their clarity differs from glass mirrors, the difference isn’t significant.
At least he could see very clearly the image of himself in the mirror; his features were very distinct... The effect he was hoping for didn’t occur, though—no interactive options related to the dumb system appeared in the reflection. He couldn’t quite figure out where the problem lay.
The mirror at ho worked, but could the copper mirror not work?
Frowning, he set down the mirror and headed outside, but just as he stepped out, an especially enthusiastic voice called—
"Gu Mo, brother, up so early... hahaha... Don’t want to sleep a bit more?"
Fujikichiro was rubbing his sleepy eyes as he happened to walk over, yawning all the way. Seeing Gu Mo step out, he quickly greeted him, his tone openly flattered, yet candid.
"No, can’t sleep... Hmm, your dark circles are heavy, couldn’t sleep last night?"
Gu Mo raised his eyebrows, noticing Monkey’s obvious panda eyes, he couldn’t help but ask.
"Ah hahaha, yes, yes. It’s my first... first ti staying in a place like this! Too excited to sleep the whole night, getting startled awake even when turning over at night, afraid of breaking sothing..." Monkey explained with an embarrassed chuckle, rubbing his hands.
He didn’t ntion other reasons, like being on an emotional rollercoaster from being startled again and again yesterday; or being so excited with mind full of thoughts about future success, repeatedly reminding himself to seize this opportunity, and before he knew it, it was late at night...
"That’s really tough..."
Gu Mo’s eyes showed so sympathy.
"Not tough, not tough. Gu Mo, brother, just rember to look after in the future... Lord Dao San holds you in high regard, surely you’ll beco soone important one day." Fujikichiro shook his head repeatedly, grinning broadly, while flattering cautiously: "Hope you won’t forget then."
He was sowhat anxious. It’s great for a partner to beco successful, but it’s... um, too fast, bordering on speeding!
Counting the days, they’ve known each other for only three days, and Gu Mo seed to be on a rising trend to success, leaving Monkey caught off guard. The effectiveness of this partnership far exceeded Monkey’s initial expectations, as he hadn’t held much unrealistic expectation—
Just planning to find a couple of strong partners, relying on accumulating battle rits to climb to success.
A very reliable career path, without untethered daydreaming. Amidst frequent warfare in this tumultuous era, today soone feels that as a man born in chaos, he must wield a sword to achieve unmatched feats, tomorrow soone else realizes they have noble ideals for serving the country and the people kept in their heart...
