Could it be a wild monster?
Watching the health bar disappear on the distant hillside at the edge of his vision, Gu Mo couldn’t quite be certain. Due to the idiotic system, his view of the world was completely different from others—everyone and everything appeared equally before his eyes.
Regardless of whether they were people or objects, there was always an ID tag above them, followed by a red health bar or a yellow durability bar.
As of now, there were no exceptions. No matter who or what it was, as long as he saw it... no, even if he didn’t realize he saw it, the system would thoughtfully mark any unintended targets captured by his gaze.
Even so, the best he could do was see the health bar imdiately, confirming whether there was a person or sothing else, but there was no way to instantly discern whether it was an enemy or sothing else.
Before any hostility is shown and an actual hostile state is judged, the health bars of people or monsters are all the sa. Only after they definitively switch to a hostile state does a red skull icon appear before the health bar of those judged as "enemies," indicating a hostile unit.
So he wasn’t sure what was over there; maybe it was just a passerby. After all, the sky hadn’t even brightened yet. Who else would take the risk of night travel besides soone like him, having a guilty conscience and eloping with soone else’s daughter?
Commoners didn’t need to run around; as for traveling rchants, there was no need to take the risk of traveling at night... Although there’s no evidence that Demon Ghosts and bandits only co out at night, it seems night is always much more dangerous than day.
As his thoughts shifted, Gu Mo shook his head, not lingering on it.
There’s no need to fear hunting wild monsters, as he had the most reliable partner, just muddle through. Glancing at the quiet black-haired girl sitting on the carriage, he smiled, and when she seed to sense his gaze, he raised a thumb in a gesture.

Hidechika slightly tilted her head, a small question mark seed to appear above her head. She didn’t quite understand what he ant, why he suddenly turned and smiled at her, then made a thumbs-up gesture... What was he indicating?
He clearly had no intention of explaining; instead, he turned his head, walked to the riverbank, squatted down, and began staring at his reflection in the water, seemingly lost in thought once again.
Turns out, washing hands was just a cover-up...
Hidechika pursed her thin Sakura lips, her mind ticulous. She had long noticed that Gu Mo’s hand-washing didn’t seem like hand-washing; most of the ti, he was just staring at his reflection in the water, probably just a front, using the water surface to perform so Secret Technique.
Of course, though her mind was ticulous, her curiosity was not strong, notice as she might, she had little desire to delve deeper. One reason was her inability to speak; another was her personality developed from years of living alone, indifferent, not wanting to chase after every question for answers.
Another reason being this world, this era itself was steeped in mysticism, with a worldview where Extraordinary Power truly existed, a world of demons dancing wildly, Night Parade of Hundred Demons, various Demons and Monsters, Serpent Gods arising continuously. Legends of powerful samurai slaying demons, high monks subduing Demons, and the countless Divine Spirits alongside Yin Yang Technique and Ninja arts abound...
All of these were not just ignorant and superstitious tales of the ancients. They were indeed part of the real world, and all these incredible events had their factual basis.
Even Hidechika herself was a Half-Demon, possessing Demon Power more formidable than any Demon Ghost, so naturally, she wouldn’t find it surprising that "her companion had mastered so Secret Technique"... after all, this person had always been mysterious, she thought.

Familiar with the process of opening the system interface only he could see, Gu Mo didn’t spend much ti on unnecessary action option pages, instead going directly to the "information" page at the bottom.
Containing functionalities like "Friend List," "Blacklist," and "Mail," the first two were of no use for the mont. He wasn’t sure whether they would be useful in the future. He had tried sending a friend request to Hidechika, but there was no change or response, and her na did not appear in the list, leaving it empty.
The blacklist, however, had a bit of a use; you could manually add an ID to search for it, and then block the corresponding target... and then you wouldn’t be able to send ssages to the other party; this was the effect he had discovered so far...
Yes, that’s right, Gu Mo discovered that the ssage-sending feature was actually usable, its effect akin to so kind of secret voice transmission. And because of the system’s encryption, it was probably at the quantum communication level, with no risk of eavesdropping or information leakage unless the person involved exposed it themselves.
So for that reason, he didn’t know what the use of the blacklist was; if he didn’t want to contact soone, he simply wouldn’t contact them, no need for the redundant step of adding them to a blacklist, right?
Perhaps it was another classic idiotic design by the system, or maybe he had yet to figure out its real use, but now he would just ignore it.
