The sky turned dark once again.
The Quantum Missile, which was on the verge of detonating, had turned into a ball of white light, about to engulf the entire Nightingale Inn.
But in the next second, it was extinguished, as if snuffed out by a pair of unseen hands.
Gone.
Upon seeing this scene, Sun Yun and his group turned pale, while Zhan Ning lay down on the ground, relieved at last.
"Finally saved," Zhan Ning said, with at least a dozen chopsticks still sticking out of his body, the intense pain from which did not affect the smile that returned to his face.
"Who stepped in?" Han Zhan asked casually while quietly calming himself.
He did not let his guard down like Zhan Ning, because this was the domain of the Sun Never Sets Knight Order, not a safe haven.
He had to maintain a good state and be ready to fight for his life at a mont's notice.
"The leader of the Sun Never Sets Knight Order, also my superior. As the first knight to be exiled to the City of Extre Evil, his real na is known to no one."
"Could he have been exiled because of a woman?" Han Zhan asked subconsciously.
Zhan Ning's mouth twitched. "No."
"He was exiled because he betrayed the knight's faith."
"Throughout Imperial history, he is the only one who has betrayed the knight's faith, betrayed the Knight's Code."
"He is an ancestor of Louis XVII, related by blood. In the Imperial history records, his na has been erased by the family."
"We usually call him the Fallen Knight!"
Following Zhan Ning's introduction, the gigantic black hand in the sky vanished, and the intense white light disappeared as well.
The bright moon reappeared in the pitch-black night sky.
A tall knight clad in pitch-black armor, riding a horse engulfed in black flas, erged at the end of the road.
The warhorse trotted on the narrow stone path, and where it passed, faint black flas lit up the entire road.
The pitch-black armor was enveloped in black flas, as a deep voice resonated: "Leave here."
Drunkard Sun Yun and those from the Anti-Xia Alliance also straightforwardly jumped into the nearby river, escaping via the waterways connected to the main river.
This was the pre-planned escape route.
After driving away the intruders, the Fallen Knight turned towards the Nightingale Inn.
Even without seeing the eyes behind the armor, one could feel the gaze landing on themselves.
Zhan Ning, standing next to Han Zhan, quickly dropped to one knee, right hand on his shoulder, offering a respectful Imperial knight salute.
"Sir, why just let them leave? They almost destroyed the entire Nightingale Inn and street." Zhan Ning asked with his head bowed in confusion.
"It was you who provoked them first, leading to their desire for revenge. This is cause and effect."
Despite being nad for his fall, the Fallen Knight's words did not betray any reckless slaughter.
He was calm, objective, and sowhat... righteous?
As this thought flashed through Han Zhan's mind, he startled himself.
Could he actually think that the Fallen Knight, exiled and a betrayer of the Knight's Code, was righteous?
Han Zhan shook his head to dispel the thought.
"The Anti-Xia Alliance has been active for the past month. Based on my analysis, they are likely planning for the upcoming Slaughter Battlefield."
"I suspect tonight is part of their plan," Zhan Ning asserted.
"That woman has returned." The Fallen Knight gently grasped the hilt of the sword tied to his saddle.
His words made the black-flad warhorse snort, seemingly sensitive to the woman he ntioned.
"Yes, she's returned, but after coming back, her strength has diminished, and she's no longer the powerful villainous woman from five years ago."
"Can't let our guard down."
"Understood!"
Listening to their conversation, Han Zhan's mind rippled.
He was now certain that the "villainous woman" Zhan Ning ntioned was indeed Gongyang Jin, who left without a word, and she was truly part of the Anti-Xia Alliance!
Based on their tone, it seed Gongyang Jin had a notable position in the Anti-Xia Alliance? Did she co back to plan that so-called Slaughter Battlefield?
He must find a way to et her.
Han Zhan was pondering this when suddenly a chill enveloped him.
He looked up to find, at so point, the Sun Never Sets Knight Order's leader, the Fallen Knight, had once again focused his gaze on him.
"You are not a knight." He straightforwardly gave his judgnt.
"Yes, I'm not."
"How did you co to Sun Never Sets Port?"
"Can I say the ferry responsible for picking up mistakenly dropped at the wrong port?"
When Han Zhan said this, he doubted even himself, yet unexpectedly, the Fallen Knight rely nodded after listening, not asking further.
He believed it? He actually believed it?
The black-flad warhorse turned around, retraced the route back with the Fallen Knight.
The string of black flas on the ground extinguished completely after their retreat.
The Fallen Knight lted back into the darkness, as though he had never appeared.
Zhan Ning stood up from the ground, walked over, and patted Han Zhan on the shoulder. "Don't look. He's already gone far."
"So, this is over?"
"It's over."
"As the leader of the Sun Never Sets Knight Order, wouldn't he take action against as an outsider?"
Zhan Ning glanced at Han Zhan strangely. "Why would he?"
"Killing you won't change anything. To him, your existence is insignificant," Zhan Ning explained, "Why did he let those Anti-Xia Alliance people go? Sa reasoning."
"Falling is not rely about wanton killing but rather achieving one's purpose, deviating from faith by any ans necessary."
"If he discovers you will beco an obstacle on his Path of Corruption, even if you're only an insignificant ant by the roadside, he will spare no effort to eliminate you."
Zhan Ning's explanation gave Han Zhan a deeper understanding of "corruption."
He nodded and said no more.
"Let's go, back to the Nightingale Inn for a good night's rest. You helped today; I'll cover your expenses at the Nightingale Inn," Zhan Ning offered generously.
Frankly, Han Zhan declined.
With news of Gongyang Jin right up front, he couldn't afford to expose his ties with her for now.
Figuring out how to reach Gongyang Jin, plus sorting through the gathered information in his mind, Han Zhan had no room for other thoughts.
Zhan Ning shrugged helplessly.
"I'll go ask the proprietress for two new rooms. You have a good night's rest."
"No need." Han Zhan started towards room 603, and as his figure entered, the balcony and window destructed by the chanical Sect rapidly restored to their original state.
Witnessing this, Zhan Ning smacked his lips.
