The Elves watched, paralyzed with horror, as their greatest defense. The accumulated knowledge and resources of thousands of years of martial tradition were deleted from existence by nothing more than the air this dragon breathed.

Elara’s hand had gone slack, her bow falling from fingers that could no longer maintain grip.

Her mouth was open, but no sound erged. The sentinel who had defended the Azure Gate through countless conflicts, who had never wavered, doubted, or shown fear, was experiencing a fundantal rupture in her understanding of power and hierarchy.

Emberion’s arrival was not an accident but a strategic, calculated maneuver that demonstrated complete command of the environnt.

The dragon’s talons, emanating the intense heat of the planetary core, effortlessly pierced the white-veined marble.

The stone liquefied from the heat. The white marble transford in seconds, its crystalline structure breaking down under heat exceeding the temperature at which marble could retain physical form.

The elegant stone beca a viscous, glowing orange slag that bubbled and hissed.

The ancient root-weaving, a magical construct crafted by Elven artificers millennia ago to provide enduring structural support, emitted a high-pitched shriek as it carbonized.

The delicate, magical threads were incinerated by their proximity to a heat source that disregarded durability as a re suggestion rather than a fundantal limitation.

The bridge has been destroyed. The sophisticated structure that had linked the Elven Kingdom to the external world for ten millennia has been reduced to a field of slag and ash, along with the charred remnants of magical reinforcents.

Jack dismounted Emberion’s head prior to the dragon coming to a complete stop.

His white hair remained perfectly in place, untouched by the updrafts of the furnace he had created.

His yellow-orange eyes swept across the assembled Elves, looking through them as if they were transparent, as if their presence registered with the sa emotional significance as dust motes in sunlight.

The hood of his cloak remained drawn up, obscuring his features completely except for the thin curve of a smile.

It wasn’t warm or friendly, but the smile of soone observing insects that had just realized the boot was descending.

The air was now so thin and scorched that the Elven guards were falling to their knees, their lungs struggling to pull oxygen from the blistering haze.

The very ground they stood on was becoming soft, the heat radiating through their boots in waves so intense it felt like they were standing on the surface of a furnace.

Elara forced herself upright through sheer force of will.

The High Sentinel’s legs trembled, not from fear. However, fear was certainly present, stemming from the physical toll of maintaining consciousness in an environnt actively hostile to biological existence.

Her armor was beginning to heat, the silverwood and enchantnts conducting thermal energy directly into her skin.

Her eyes watered from the combination of heat and the light radiating from the slag field where the bridge used to be.

"Who..." she started, her voice erging cracked and damaged. "Who are you? State your purpose at the Azure Gate."

The smile widened fractionally beneath the hood.

"My na is irrelevant," Jack stated, his voice cutting across the thermal chaos with perfect clarity. "But I was sent by King Eric Valdris as an emissary to solve the issue between the Elven nation and the Orc nation. I represent Elysium’s interests in maintaining regional stability."

Elara’s mind was processing this information on multiple levels simultaneously. An emissary. Sent by a human king.

Manifesting a dragon capable of destroying ten thousand years of Elven infrastructure without effort. Speaking with absolute certainty about solving disputes that had gone unresolved for months.

The pieces didn’t fit into any coherent frawork.

"I require..." Elara forced the words out through a throat that felt lined with sand. "I require proof. Humans are not permitted to cross the Azure Gate threshold. Not without explicit authorization from the King and Council."

The smile beneath the hood turned into a grin.

"Proof," Jack repeated, his tone suggesting he found the word amusing. "You wish for proof that I’m powerful enough to rit passage into your kingdom."

He paused, allowing the implication to settle.

"Would you like the dragon to co back out?" he asked pleasantly. "I could lt everything around you. All of it was reduced to slag in minutes. Would that constitute sufficient proof?"

Elara experienced a mont of acute respiratory distress.

The realization was absolute. This being... this creature in human form wearing a hooded cloak and speaking with casual certainty about genocide, wasn’t making an idle threat.

He was offering a demonstration of capability, the sa way one might offer to show a sample of rchandise. The destruction of the bridge hadn’t been an attack. It had been him arriving.

If he decided actually to demonstrate offensive capability, the Azure Gate and everyone in it would cease to exist.

"No," Elara stated, her voice steady despite the paralyzing understanding that had just crystallized in her consciousness. "That will not be necessary."

"That’s the smart choice," Jack confird. "I prefer not to create unnecessary complications. King Eric values efficiency above most things."

He tilted his head fractionally, regarding Elara with the clinical assessnt of soone evaluating a tool for potential utility.

"However, I require assurance that I will not be further hindered during my ti in the Elven Kingdom. If the Council or the King attempts to impede my mission or insult my position as Elysium’s chosen representative, the consequences will be substantially more severe than a destroyed bridge."

Elara understood exactly what he was communicating.

Comply, and there might be a future where the Elven Kingdom continued to exist.

Resist, and this being would demonstrate exactly why his presence had manifested with a dragon powerful enough to unmake thousands of years of fortification through simple proximity.

"If I escort you personally," Elara found herself saying, the words erging before her conscious mind had approved them, "would you agree not to release the dragon again?"

The individual’s expression, partially obscured by the hood, conveyed a genuine appreciation for her strategic acun.

"You understand how to negotiate," Jack stated. "Yes. I agree not to manifest Emberion again during my ti here, provided I am not given reason to do so. We have terms."

Elara turned to the junior sentinels who were still conscious and able to move. Most were struggling with the aftermath of being exposed to heat that exceeded any recorded temperature in Elven history.

Several had collapsed, their bodies unable to maintain function in the thermal chaos.

"ira," she called out, her voice carrying absolute authority despite the trembling in her limbs. "Dispatch a ssage to the inner gates. Tell them to prepare the teleportation chamber. We have a visitor who needs transport."

ira, a junior sentinel with the discipline to move despite the furnace-level temperatures, bowed and began running toward the internal fortifications.

She understood the priority overrode all other considerations.

Elara turned back to Jack.

"Follow ," she commanded, her bearing straightening despite the exhaustion that threatened to pull her down. "The teleportation chamber will transport you directly to the throne room. You will be presented to King Maelor and Queen Morvana for a formal reception."
