A knock ca at the office door, and Eric entered with coffee.

"Mr. Grant, your coffee."

Turning, Eric then handed the other cup to Yates Donovan, who was sitting opposite him.

Yates Donovan accepted it with a smile and a word of thanks.

Eric gave a slight smile, his eyes darting around furtively.

He was being so obvious about it, it was hard for Yates Donovan not to notice.

"Relax. We’re not three-year-olds. We’re not going to ’bond’ by getting into childish fistfights every day."

"..." Eric hadn’t expected to be caught and coughed awkwardly.

Ever since the two of them had gotten into a huge fight right here, Eric had been stopping by the office eight hundred tis a day.

He was terrified that if he wasn’t paying attention, they’d start fighting again.

Before, he’d never worried about his Mr. Grant at all.

But in Mr. Donovan, he had t his match.

Rumor had it that after Mr. Donovan was kidnapped as a child and nearly killed, the old master of the Donovan family had taken his safety to heart, personally teaching him survival skills. He had always been trained with military-like rigor.

So when these two clashed, especially with Mr. Grant’s injured hand, it was really hard to say who would win or lose.

Both of them were trained fighters; once a fight started, it wouldn’t be easy to stop.

Judging from last ti, those two weren’t joking around. Every punch and kick was ant to be lethal, with no regard for their past friendship whatsoever.

He was genuinely afraid they’d start fighting in secret again and kill each other.

Eric was ntally exhausted.

Silas Grant handed him a file, glanced up at him, and asked with concern, "What did she do today?"

Hearing this, Yates Donovan raised an eyebrow and also looked at Eric, leisurely sipping his coffee.

Who else could this "she" be but Mia Grant?

In truth, his own people also reported to him periodically, but he still wanted to hear it.

Eric imdiately straightened up, adopting an all-business attitude as he reported seriously, "Today, Miss Grant attended a club gathering with her classmates. The location was The Garden Restaurant in the east of the city."

"A club?" Silas Grant tried to recall, but in the end, he couldn’t rember Mia Grant ever joining any club activities.

She hadn’t joined any back in high school.

Mia Grant was such a contradiction. On one hand, she yearned for a lively atmosphere; on the other, she shied away from the hustle and bustle.

She wasn’t very social and preferred to just watch quietly from the sidelines.

Like a narrator who could never step into the story.

He hadn’t returned to Jynsia often in the past, but every ti he ca back to the Grant Family estate, he would see her all by herself, sitting quietly.

Sotis she’d be spacing out on the swing, sotis reading a book by the fireplace, sotis napping by the window.

She was so quiet it was as if she had blended into the background, making it hard to even notice her presence.

But once you did notice her, you’d feel she was shrouded in an inextricable layer of lancholy.

When he first noticed this, he couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

’A kid in her teens, what could she possibly have to worry about so much?’

’It was probably just my imagination.’

But later on, he had more and more of these "imaginary" feelings.

He tried to get closer, but she was always like a frightened bird.

He would stand next to her, and it would take a long while for her to notice him. Then her shoulders would jolt in fright, her eyes widening as she stared at him in terror. A few seconds later, she would put on an ingratiating smile, stand up, affectionately grab his arm, and call out sweetly, "Brother."

’This little one seems to be carrying a lot of unknown little secrets in her heart.’

’She’s terrified of anyone finding out.’

Eric explained, "It seems she went with a friend."

"A friend?" Silas Grant pulled his thoughts back to the present and looked at Eric again. "Her roommate?"

The only people he could think of who could be considered Mia Grant’s friends were her few roommates.

He had reviewed their files; their backgrounds were relatively clean.

Just because he didn’t interfere with Mia Grant making friends didn’t an he would allow any riff-raff to hang around her all day.

Eric said it wasn’t, and Silas Grant fell silent, just watching him.

Eric was at a loss for words, montarily unsure how to phrase it.

Across from them, the smile on Yates Donovan’s lips deepened, looking like soone who loved the drama and didn’t mind making it worse.

Eric was still trying to find the right words, attempting to be more tactful.

Probably finding him too slow, Yates Donovan put down his cup and, out of the "goodness of his heart," answered for him, "She just had a al with those two young brothers from the Sinclair Family. Is that really so hard to say?"

"There were so many people there. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were doing sothing sordid."

"..." Eric’s mouth twitched violently.

’Based on the pictures they took on the street, it did look a little... sordid.’

The Sinclair Family.

The Sinclair Family of Jynsia. The Grant Family had heard of them.

It was said that the entire Sinclair Family doted on those twins, practically worshipping them like ancestors.

He vaguely rembered seeing them before.

It was...

Silas Grant’s dark eyes narrowed.

The day Mia Grant jumped into the sea.

The Sinclair brothers were also on the cruise ship.

At the ti, he had just assud they were Serena Grant’s friends.

It seed that later, on the day Mia Grant’s "ashes" were shipped back from abroad, they had also appeared at the police station.

But back then, he hadn’t paid any attention and had no desire to know why they were there.

eting Yates Donovan’s teasing gaze, Silas Grant’s brow twitched slightly.

"You’re done for. She has other ’good friends’ on the outside now~" Yates Donovan didn’t forget to add more fuel to the fire.

Ever since his fight with Silas Grant, he really enjoyed seeing the man get put in his place.

It was so satisfying.

Silas Grant maintained a composed smile on his face, showing no sign of being affected.

"She’s a child. It’s normal for her to make so friends."

"Oh?" Yates Donovan laughed. "You’d better hope you actually believe that."

"..."

「Downstairs at the apartnt building.」

Mia Grant unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.

Ian Sinclair followed at a leisurely pace.

The rear door opened, and Mia Grant leaned in to help Felix Sinclair unbuckle his seatbelt.

The mont the car stopped, Felix Sinclair had already opened his eyes and was silently looking down, fumbling for the seatbelt buckle.

But he fumbled for a long ti without managing to open it.

He still wore that faint, placid expression, not looking anxious, but rather patiently wrestling with the seatbelt.

Suddenly, the restraint on his body loosened; soone had unbuckled it for him.

He froze for a second, then looked up to his left, caught off guard by a pair of sparkling eyes.

Those eyes blinked at him, holding a hint of a smile. "We’re ho now. You can get out."

"..." He stared at her for a long mont before nodding lightly and obediently replying, "Okay."

Mia Grant’s heart lted.

Helping him to his feet, she turned her head and saw Ian Sinclair standing to the side with his arms crossed.

Rembering his earlier rough actions, Mia Grant didn’t hand Felix over to him, instead urging, "I’ve got him. You go and call the elevator."

The puppy huffed and walked ahead.

Although he was clearly unhappy about it, he still held the elevator door for them. He only stepped inside after Mia Grant had helped Felix in and they were standing steady.

In the bright, warm light of the elevator, Mia Grant studied Felix Sinclair’s features.

His eyes were downcast, making it impossible to see his expression. But his cheeks and the tips of his ears were still bright red.

Opening the apartnt door, Mia Grant helped Felix Sinclair sit on the bench in the entryway. "Wait a second, let find you so slippers..."

Before she could finish her sentence, her arm was grabbed. She turned, finding her way blocked by a solid figure as a scorching kiss pressed down on her aggressively.
