Now reading: Chapter 257 - 255: Personally Measure It from I Faked My Death—Now I Have to Tame the Crazy Men I Left Behind, a Romance novel by Nanli Rogue.

For the first ti in half a month, Mia Grant finally had a good night’s sleep.

She had a dreamless night, sleeping straight through until morning.

When she woke up, it was already almost eight o’clock.

Sitting up in bed, she looked around, her expression slightly dazed.

’A completely unfamiliar environnt. But judging by the decor, this must be the Donovan family estate.’

A wave of relief washed over her. She yawned, climbed out of bed, and went to wash up.

She wasn’t very familiar with the layout and had to feel her way around for a while before finding the bathroom.

Inside the bathroom, Yates Donovan was taking a shower.

The translucent glass door to the shower was brazenly left wide open. The mont Mia entered, the sound of running water caught her attention, and she looked over in surprise.

Steam filled the air, swirling thickly. The person inside had their back to her, so she didn’t recognize them at first—only that it was a man.

A short scream escaped her lips.

The next second, the man under the water stiffened. Realization dawned, and he narrowed his eyes, peering through the steam at the petite figure by the sink who was about to bolt.

"Hey, what are you running for?"

"..."

Hearing his voice, Mia stopped in her tracks. The sound of running water behind her had ceased.

Noticing this, she turned around suspiciously. "You..."

He turned on the exhaust fan, and the layer of steam between them began to dissipate. The man’s lean, muscular torso went from being faintly visible to...

GASP.

Another scream.

Yates Donovan raised an eyebrow, casually grabbed a nearby bath towel, and tied it around his waist.

"It’s not like you haven’t seen it before. Why are you so jumpy?"

"..." Mia was speechless. She peeked cautiously through the gaps in her fingers, and only after confirming he was covered did she lower her hands. "What are you doing in my room?"

"Isn’t it obvious what I’m doing?" he said, casually slicking his wet hair back from his forehead.

A mont ago, with his hair hanging down, he had looked innocent and harmless.

But now, combined with that signature lazy smile of his, he was back to looking like his usual roguish self.

’He looked so punchable for so reason.’

"Doesn’t your room have a bathroom? Did you have to co here to shower?"

"The water heater’s broken."

Mia Grant’s frown deepened at his excuse.

Yates Donovan walked out of the shower, a smile playing on his lips. "Don’t like that reason? What should I say, then? That we slept together last night, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d take a cold shower in your room to cool off?"

"..." Mia grabbed the nearby hand soap and chucked it at him, but he dodged it with a nimble sidestep.

He turned back, a smug grin spreading across his face, but before he could open his mouth, a tube of toothpaste hit him square between the eyebrows.

"What the hell!"

Seeing him get his due, Mia finally felt a bit of satisfaction. She put her hands on her hips and lectured him, "Don’t you dare sleep in my bed again without my permission!"

"And how do you know you didn’t give permission last night?" Yates asked, rubbing the spot between his eyebrows as he turned to look in the mirror.

Sure enough, the red mark was glaringly obvious and impossible to ignore. After he’d rubbed it, it had only gotten bigger.

’Tsk. With an arm that accurate, she should be playing baseball.’

It was a good question. Mia fell silent for a mont before retorting, though without much conviction, "Stop trying to trick . Don’t think I don’t rember anything."

"Oh?" Yates’s interest was piqued, and he swaggered toward her.

Yates Donovan had a great body, one that wouldn’t lose out to a male model’s.

He wasn’t as brawny as Silas Grant, but his broad shoulders and narrow waist were incredibly alluring.

Especially that white towel, hanging loosely on his hips. With his every movent, a corner of it fluttered up and down.

’He’d only tied it in a casual knot, as if it could fall off at any second.’

’When he moved, she could even catch a glimpse of his thigh.’

Mia hastily averted her gaze, her expression sheepish.

’Let be clear, I’m not a pervert. It’s just that he’s way too tempting.’

"Alright, that’s enough. If you want to talk, then talk. What’s the point of standing so close?"

Mia stopped him just in ti.

Yates raised an eyebrow, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed as he unabashedly sized her up.

"So, tell . What do you rember about last night?"

"I rember everything I’m supposed to."

She shot him a glare, then turned to grab a new toothbrush and began to get ready.

Yates watched her in silence for a mont before suddenly speaking. "Fine, I apologize. I really lost control last night. But it wasn’t entirely my fault. You were clinging to and wouldn’t let go. I didn’t have much of a choice."

"..."

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

Mia slowly turned her stiff neck, her toothbrush still dangling from her mouth as she looked at him.

She studied him, trying to jog her mory while simultaneously taking stock of how her body felt.

’It doesn’t... it doesn’t seem like I feel any different.’

Realizing he was lying to her again, Mia took out her toothbrush, rinsed her mouth, and spat. Then she turned to him with a perfectly straight face. "No wonder I couldn’t get a clear look at anything just now."

"It’s not surprising."

"If there had really been anything worth seeing, I’d probably still be resting in bed right now."

"’Given that it supposedly happened, and yet I’m still up and about, do you know what that implies?"

Yates narrowed his eyes. Mia smiled, raising her hand and making a pinching gesture with her thumb and forefinger. "You know, I was expecting the main performance, but that felt more like... a dress rehearsal."

"..."

?

Yates froze for a few seconds, not quite processing what she’d said. By the ti the insult landed, she was long gone.

---

In the bedroom, Mia Grant took a fresh change of clothes and headed into the walk-in closet to change.

She had just stepped inside when a blur of white squeezed in behind her, pinning her against a row of closets.

Before she could say a word, he grabbed her jaw, lowered his head, and bit her.

That’s right. It wasn’t a kiss, it was a bite.

She hissed.

The pain made Mia part her lips, and in the next instant, the bite at the corner of her mouth transford.

"Weren’t you the one with the smart mouth?!"

"But you’re the one who got angry first."

"Getting defensive, are we?"

"...Heh." Yates let out a humorless laugh. "Bring it on."

The tips of their noses brushed as their foreheads pressed together.

Not only that, but he also wedged a leg forcefully between hers, pinning her to the spot.

’In this position, there was no way she could escape.’

While she was distracted, Yates grabbed her hand and guided it downwards.

Mia’s face drained of color. "You..."

"Weren’t you unsatisfied?" he said with a wicked laugh. "All that trash talk doesn’t prove anything. Co on, why don’t you asure it for yourself?"

"Are you a pervert?!"

"Huh?" Yates tilted his head, his dark eyes glinting as they swept over her flushed cheeks. He chuckled. "The way you were staring at in the bathroom earlier... you looked like you wanted to eat alive. If I’m a pervert, what does that make you?"

Caught, Mia gave up struggling. She tilted her head back to et his gaze and, mimicking his own grin, said, "I’m the little rogue who loves beating up perverts."

"Wow, you’ve got a pretty clear sense of self-awareness..." Before he could finish, Yates felt sothing tighten around his waist.

He froze, his words catching in his throat.

Her cool fingertips traced the edge of his towel, wandering leisurely over his abs.

"Lower your head," she said. "I’m going to kiss you."
