The place Miles Sinclair had chosen was a bit noisy, not suitable for a chat.

Mia Grant gripped Kian Keller’s hand tightly the entire ti.

She had a nagging feeling that this man, her uncle in na only, wasn’t very friendly toward her.

On the way over, Kian Keller had told her about him.

Miles Sinclair had been doing business in Southea for years. In the beginning, he’d been relatively cautious, still having so reservations. But he’d grown more and more audacious in recent years, so much so that many people in their circle knew about his business in Southea.

Kian Keller hadn’t gone into detail, but the mont Mia Grant heard the location, she knew the man’s business couldn’t be anything legitimate.

So now, seeing this so-called uncle again, she couldn’t help but feel uneasy looking at him.

Especially the way his eyes were fixed on her, his gaze so intense and purposeful it was deeply unsettling.

Before the man could speak, Kian Keller intervened.

"Has anyone ever told you that you have no manners?"

Miles Sinclair turned to him at the sound of his voice. "Has anyone ever told you it’s incredibly rude to speak to an elder that way?"

"An elder? You?"

"Barring any surprises, am I not?" He shot a glance at Mia Grant.

’Mia Grant has to call uncle, so shouldn’t Kian Keller do the sa?’

"Or is it that the two of you aren’t in the kind of relationship I assud? If that’s the case, then I suppose I’m not your elder."

"..." Mia Grant blinked.

"That depends on what she wants." Kian Keller had no interest in bantering with him. "Why did you want to see her?"

"Are you her spokesman?"

"..."

Mia Grant tightened her grip on Kian Keller’s hand and spoke up. "Hello, I’m Mia Grant. Please get straight to the point. We have other plans soon."

"Then let’s cut to the chase," Miles Sinclair said, looking at her. "You must know by now that he’s your father. He very much wants you to co back."

"Ever since Carla told him you existed, he’s been keeping tabs on you."

"He wanted to find a formal setting to discuss this, and only after you were psychologically prepared. But I find that too tedious. He’s always so cautious when it cos to anything involving Gwen York."

"Since we’ve run into each other, we might as well get it all out in the open. Why waste ti?"

"Carla probably told you the gist of the situation. So, what are your demands?"

"...Demands?" Mia Grant raised an eyebrow.

"You’re his daughter, so you’ll naturally get what you’re owed. What’s more, you’ve suffered out there for so many years. He feels for you, so he’ll give you far more than Carla and the others. You can rest assured on that point."

Perhaps because the icy glare from across the table was too obvious, Miles Sinclair reconsidered, then changed his tune. "What I an is, if you co back to the Sinclair family, no one will treat you unfairly. But I’ve noticed your desire to return doesn’t seem particularly strong."

"So, is there anything else you want, or anything you want to know? Let’s clear up any issues between us. What are your concerns?"

Their eyes t again. This ti, there was no fear in Mia Grant’s gaze. She looked directly into his eyes. "You don’t like ."

Miles Sinclair watched her. "I’m like this with everyone."

"No." Mia Grant’s tone was sharp. "You’re hostile toward ."

"I need a plausible explanation. Otherwise, there’s no reason for us to continue this conversation."

"You’ve been lying. You said no one would treat unfairly if I ca back, but you don’t welco . Am I wrong?"

A smirk suddenly played on Miles Sinclair’s lips. "What else?"

"You just ntioned... Ms. York."

"You have a problem with her, too."

"You said that when it cos to matters involving Ms. York, Mr. Sinclair is always extrely cautious."

"Is there a problem with that statent?"

"You acknowledged my connection to Ms. York. But you didn’t acknowledge my connection to Mr. Sinclair."

"Perhaps it was subconscious, but it proves that in your heart, you don’t believe I’m Mr. Sinclair’s daughter."

"I’m very curious about that story."

"Of course, if you don’t want to talk about it, we can end this conversation right now. We can just pretend we never t."

"..." Miles Sinclair sized her up. He had been skeptical, but this personality of hers certainly had a trace of the Sinclair family in it.

"Carla doesn’t even know this part of the story." The man tapped out a cigarette and lit it. "How much do you know about Gwen York?"

Mia Grant answered frankly, "Wikipedia."

"And do you know that public rumors aren’t necessarily true?"

"That depends on whether you’re willing to tell ."

"If you don’t, I’ll just assu they’re all true."

Miles Sinclair laughed.

’Interesting.’

"Aside from your looks, you’re nothing like Gwen York."

"Good."

"Gwen York’s death wasn’t what the rumors say. But as for how exactly she died... I can’t really tell you. Because I don’t know the details myself."

"Her death wasn’t that mysterious, though. It was a car crash."

"The driver who caused it died at the scene, too."

"But we suspect one of two things. One, it was a genuine accident. Two, your grandfather was behind it."

"Grandfather..." Mia Grant frowned. "Your and Mr. Sinclair’s father?"

"That’s right."

"It’s a long story. Your father fell in love with Gwen York at first sight. They had sothing of a whirlwind marriage. Their relationship was great, right up until Carla was born."

"Until her first love ca looking for her."

"Did you know you have an older brother?"

Mia Grant thought for a mont, then nodded.

"The rumor is that he’s the child of your father’s old fla. In reality, he’s Gwen York’s illegitimate son. The one she had with her old fla."

"..." Mia Grant froze, her pupils constricting.

"Did you really think your father’s an idiot, willing to raise another man’s child? He raised that boy because he was *Gwen York’s* son."

"I do have a problem with you, and it’s because you look so much like Gwen York. I don’t need a DNA test to know you’re her daughter."

"You suspect I’m also the product of one of Ms. York’s affairs."

Miles Sinclair nodded.

"It’s not just . Your grandfather and the others think so too. A total of four people died in Gwen York’s car crash."

"Two in the other car."

"You’re saying Ms. York’s first love—the man she was having an affair with—was in the car with her."

"You’re a smart one."

"They crashed while they were eloping." Miles Sinclair tapped the ash from his cigarette. "Your father had found out about them but refused to grant a divorce. Partly because he genuinely loved her, and partly because you hadn’t been born yet."

"They were at a stalemate. Every day, Gwen York would use the baby in her womb to threaten him."

"Your father had never been so humiliated in his entire life."

"Then you were finally born, and she was free."

"She didn’t take with her."

"True, but that’s because your father forced you to stay. So we can’t be sure if she intended to take you or not."

"At the very least, she never planned on taking Carla."

"Then was I abducted?"

For once, Miles Sinclair was silent.

Mia Grant’s heart sank. "So, you’re the ones who got rid of ."
