"It’s . I’m Mia Grant."

...

Yates Donovan narrowed his eyes and subconsciously sat up straight, but when he spoke, his tone was as flippant as ever. "Mia Grant? And who might you be? The na sounds so familiar."

"Ah..." He drew out the sound, as if just recalling the person. "Right. I think my fiancée was also called that."

"But you can’t be her. My fiancée died for good over two months ago. Sigh, you’ve brought up my tragic past again. Her little lovers threw all her ashes into the sea, didn’t even leave a single speck for ."

...Mia Grant was speechless.

"So, sweetie, promise . Even if you’re running a scam, could you at least show a little respect for the dead next ti?"

"After all, we must respect the dead. My dear fiancée was so young when she passed, she’s definitely full of resentnt. You’d better be careful lately."

"When you have ti, rember to go to a temple and pray a bit. Buy a few consecrated bracelets to ward off evil spirits."

"Do you know which temples in the country are the most effective? Seeing as you share the sa na as my fiancée, I’ll tell you. In Jynsia..."

Mia Grant took a deep breath.

’She’d always known that in life, so karmic payback was inevitable.’

But...

The person on the other end was still rambling on. Unable to take it anymore, she roared, "Yates, that’s enough! I really am Mia Grant!"

"Oh, so you’re Mia Grant just because you say so? Well, I say you’re Jacob Lee."

Yates scoffed. "Besides, you didn’t bother to inform when you died, but now that you’re alive, you suddenly know how to call ."

"You asshole!"

"I’m calling you from Hayes Hughes’s phone! Would he lie to you? If I were a fake, how could I have gotten his phone?"

"You..."

Yates was about to say sothing, but she cut him off again. "Stop your nonsense! If we weren’t on the phone, I’d have shut that mouth of yours by now!"

"Oh, really?" Yates was unconcerned. "And what would you shut it with? Your lips? If you want to kiss , just say so. It’s not like I won’t let you."

...

"Shut up! Listen to , this is a matter of life and death! Sothing’s happened to Hayes Hughes! Are you in the country? If you are, please get over here, quickly! If you’re not, can you..."

"What’s it to whether he lives or dies?"

"Silas Grant is trying to kill him!"

’She rembered that Silas Grant and Yates Donovan were good friends. Even if Yates didn’t care about Hayes Hughes, he would definitely get involved in anything concerning Silas!’

"Oh? Is that so?" Unexpectedly, on the other end of the line, Yates unhurriedly lit a cigarette. "And then?"

...

Mia Grant didn’t want to waste any more ti talking to this madman and hung up the phone directly.

’She was wrong. She never should have called Yates. She might as well just call the police!’

She had just pressed the first two digits of 911 when the screen flashed. A certain lunatic was calling her back.

Mia Grant’s hand, still in the middle of dialing, couldn’t stop in ti and accidentally swiped to answer.

Yates’s tone was as careless as ever. "We were having such a nice chat. Why’d you hang up so suddenly? You did it before, too. So rude."

His words threw Mia Grant off. "Before? When did I ever hang up on you?"

"Who said anything about the phone? I’m talking about you."

...

’Oh, he was talking about her faking her death.’

’Hanging up the phone so abruptly... just like she’d ’hung up’ on life so abruptly.’

Mia Grant’s temples throbbed.

"I don’t have ti to waste on your nonsense right now. I..."

This ti, Yates had learned his lesson. Before she could hang up, he said, "What’s the rush? I’m almost there."

"You’re here?" Mia Grant was stunned.

"Yeah."

"You’re nearby?" Mia Grant didn’t believe him.

"More or less."

"If you don’t believe , fine. Go ahead and call the police. Let those two end up on the news tomorrow. Brothers trying to kill each other, and over a woman, no less. Ooh, that would be sensational."

’Don’t get angry. Don’t get angry.’

’Mia Grant told herself this would all pass.’

’Why should a normal person like her argue with a lunatic?’

"The door is locked, I can’t open it for you. The code is 910601. Just co straight in. Oh, and you’d better bring so people!"

"Oho." Yates raised an eyebrow, his tone unreadable—it could have been teasing or just plain sarcastic. "The code is your birthday, huh? Let guess, are the last digits Hayes Hughes’s birthday?"

"You two lovebirds are just so sweet."

"So sweet that I, the fiancé, feel like calling the cops on you both."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. What has this world co to?"

"First, you have that monk, Kian Keller, falling from grace and stealing soone else’s girl. Then you have Hayes Hughes, that stubborn mule with a strong moral compass, becoming the other man."

"Is love really that grand these days?"

"...Please, can you get a grip? I’m your ex—fiancée! Your current fiancée is Serena Grant!"

"Why so worked up? Are you in a hurry for to make way for Mr. Other Man?"

"It’s fine. We’re all one big happy family, the three of us."

"Don’t worry about it. As long as the three of us live a good life together, that’s all that matters."

"My bed is pretty big. I wouldn’t mind sleeping between you two."

"Forget just one other man. All your little numbers four, five, and six can fit too."

"If it really cos to that, I can sleep on the floor. Under your bed."

Mia Grant shrieked, "Yates Donovan, you asshole!"

"Hm?" At the door, the man who was entering the code spoke in a lower tone, but his eyes were full of amusent. "You little brat, you dare curse again?"

"You..." Mia Grant really wasn’t going to let him get away with it.

"I dared you to curse and you actually did it." Yates pushed the door open.

"Weren’t you just cursing , too?" Mia Grant prepared to counterattack.

’In front of the other male leads, she was ek and submissive, but with Yates, she ca out swinging!’

’He was a male lead with no corruption value, so what did she have to be afraid of?’

’Anyway, if anything happened, the System would have her back. This was the System’s bug to begin with.’

Hearing his laughter from the other side, Mia Grant finally realized her train of thought had slipped on a banana peel. This guy had led her on a winding path, and she had completely lost sight of what was important!

Soone was about to die outside!!!

Mia Grant tapped her head with her hand. "They should be in the living room. Hayes Hughes is no match for Silas Grant. You just... you just said yourself that he was injured by Kian Keller. His wounds definitely haven’t healed yet. He..."

"Tsk." A man’s slightly impatient voice ca through the phone, followed by his words: "Alright, save your breath."

"Now, back up."

"What?"

"Step back, idiot."

...

’She’d been insulted again.’

But Mia Grant wasn’t angry.

She imdiately raised her head to look at the door in front of her and, stunned, took a few steps back.

"Done?"

She clutched her phone, her voice uncertain. "Done."

The master bedroom door was slamd open by two burly n.

The door panel quivered, making a shrill, bizarre sound as it swung open to one side.

At the doorway, the burly n stepped aside, revealing a figure standing behind them with one hand in his pocket.

Mia Grant stood frozen by the window, her phone still in her hand from the unterminated call, just staring foolishly at him.

The man, dressed in a casual suit, strolled toward her as if he were taking a leisurely walk in a garden.

Yates Donovan stopped in front of her, smiled, and snapped his fingers.

"You can co back to your senses now, my dear fiancée."
