Rabbu-i felt it. Her posture stiffened and a deep flush spread down her neck to her chest. Rabbu-i swallowed before answering. "Fine. Thadric’s volunteers are covering the night watch and nobody’s complained yet." She tried to sound normal but her voice was half an octave higher than usual. "We haven’t had an incident since you clear the forest. The whole village is safe and quiet."
"Good." He finally looked up at her face. Rabbu-i’s bright green eyes had that glazed look he recognized from the hunting trip weeks ago but ten tis worse. Her lips were parted and her chest was rising fast. She uncrossed her legs under the table and imdiately crossed them again in the other direction, pressing her thighs together tight enough that the muscles in her exposed legs flexed. Her left hand dropped under the table and tugged the edge of her leaf-skirt lower between her legs.

The inner kitchen was clean and quiet. Whatever Selena had cooked today was already done and the only thing left was the lingering sll of roasted at and baked pastry dough hanging in the warm air. Eren crossed through the narrow back hallway and pushed open the wooden door that connected the restaurant to Selena’s private house behind it.
The alluring and holy sll hit him first and made his shoulders drop. Roasted Yaksha with herbs he couldn’t na, sweet pastry with honey glaze and sothing deeper underneath it all. A warm spiced scent that reminded him of cinnamon but wasn’t cinnamon. Probably so magical elven plant he hadn’t learned the na of yet.
Then his eyes adjusted to the light and his heartbeat went insane.
