Chapter 2189: Chapter 2190: Do you know who he is?

Qi Yongchun’s face, which had previously been full of smiles, stiffened.

He had thought this affair was rely a formality—rely inform Chen Bingqiang, and it would be done, then he could handle it on his own without any fuss.

But he hadn’t expected Chen Bingqiang to throw him such a curveball!

This was sothing he had not anticipated.

“Chen Bingqiang, what are you saying to !”

Qi Yongchun’s tone beca forceful:

“Do you an to say that if your people commit offenses in Pengcheng, we can’t handle it? This is clearly shielding them! You’d better watch your behavior and not ruin your own reputation!”

“There are so things I’d rather not say, but if you insist on doing this, I can’t stop you,” said Chen Bingqiang,

“If you really want to handle it, then handle it.”

Chen Bingqiang said no more and hung up the phone.

Qi Yongchun, too, had a fiery temper and tossed his phone aside.

“Those Zhong Hai people are way too arrogant!”

Sensing that sothing was amiss, Huang Sihai ventured a question.

“Leader, is there a problem with Zhong Hai?”

“They won’t let deal with this Lin Yi,” he said, “They insist on sending him back.”

“To commit such a serious offense and then just send him back? Isn’t that obviously taking advantage?”

“They have their way of doing things. I just didn’t expect them to be so blunt even after I made a personal call!”

Qi Yongchun was fuming, feeling sowhat slighted.

Huang Sihai’s eyes darted around. “We’ve got a history with them. Officially or unofficially, there should be no issue with us handling the matter, but they keep obstructing. Sothing doesn’t feel right.”

Qi Yongchun glanced at Huang Sihai, “Are you suggesting Lin Yi has so connections?”

“It’s a possibility, or they wouldn’t be stopping you.”

“Very likely, I have my suspicions,” Qi Yongchun stated, lighting up a cigarette,

“So young and assigned to investigate this case, and with such skill, Zhong Hai is sure to protect talent like that. But none of that matters, he must be dealt with for his actions.”

Continuing, Qi Yongchun flicked ash from his cigarette.

“Let’s drop the subject. If there’s nothing else, you can go. I’ll inform the others to handle this matter by the book.”

Hearing “by the book” relieved Huang Sihai a great deal.

It was his mistake to begin with; following standard procedure, there were no issues.

“May I take so n and go see him?”

“You’re looking to kick a man while he’s down,” Qi Yongchun intoned.

Huang Sihai chuckled, “Soone who doesn’t know better, looking for trouble—I’ve wanted to et him for a long while.”

“Go ahead.”

Qi Yongchun waved him off without much concern.

“Thank you, leader.”

Huang Sihai smiled and nodded, then left Qi Yongchun’s office.

Due to his duty shift, Qi Yongchun hadn’t left; instead, he switched on his computer to review the case files on Lin Yi.

He read through all the details twice and couldn’t spot any issues.

Based on what had been done, following the normal legal processes was completely justified.

Having verified all procedures, Qi Yongchun stretched and was ready to go to sleep.

Ring, ring, ring—

Just then, Qi Yongchun’s phone rang.

Seeing the caller’s na, his expression tightened, becoming serious.

“Leader, calling at this hour—hope it’s not for a ga of mahjong.”

“It’s not that. Where are you? I need you for sothing.”

“Just tell .”

“Can’t explain over the phone, we need to et in person.”

“Fine, I’ll co to you.”

“No need, I’ll tell you where to wait.”

With that, Qi Yongchun picked up the phone, his tone respectful and modest.

“I’m on duty at the station.”

Sensing sothing off in the other’s tone, Qi Yongchun probed, “Is there a secret operation?”

“Can’t discuss it over the phone, wait for in the office.”

“Alright, alright, I’ll wait here.”

After hanging up, Qi Yongchun had no intention of sleeping anymore. He tidied up his office a bit, making it look neater.

Roughly twenty minutes later, an office door swung open, and a middle-aged man in a white shirt walked in.

The man’s na was He Jiaxing, responsible for all matters big and small in Pengcheng.

“Leader, what’s so secretive?” Qi Yongchun too was all business, not daring to be careless.

“Sit down, let’s talk at our leisure.”

He Jiaxing seated himself on a sofa nearby, and Qi Yongchun prepared a pot of tea, placing it on the coffee table.

“Try this, it’s this year’s new tea, quite a good flavor.”

He Jiaxing didn’t move, speaking indifferently,

“Old Qi, we’ve known each other for a while now, haven’t we?”

“If you put it that way, it’s been quite so ti. We’ve weathered many storms together.”

He Jiaxing nodded, “How’s Little Cong doing? I haven’t seen him for over half a year.”

“He’s just started his graduate studies this year. He’s got a lot going on at school, and his teachers won’t let him co ho,” said Qi Yongchun with a smile,

“But he took leave last month to co visit. He wanted to see you, but you were away on business. He only had two days of leave, so he couldn’t make it.”

“The old ones at ho, they’re doing alright?”

“They’re quite hale and hearty.”

Qi Yongchun felt sothing was off. It was already past midnight, and He Jiaxing had co all this way just to make small talk, which was highly unusual.

“We’re supposed to discuss official business. Why are we talking about family all of a sudden?”

Qi Yongchun sipped his tea, “We’ve known each other for so many years; just speak frankly if sothing’s the matter.”

He Jiaxing paused for a mont before speaking directly,

“Then let be straight.”

“Go on, you’ve got confused now.”

“I’ve heard about the Permanent Village case. There’s soone from Zhong Hai nad Lin Yi; you must have apprehended him.”

Qi Yongchun didn’t expect He Jiaxing to bring this up.

“Yes, he’s locked up downstairs,” said Qi Yongchun,

“According to the suspects’ confessions, they had surrendered, but Lin Yi continued to attack, causing over a hundred casualties. It’s a clear case of excessive self-defense with a trendously adverse social impact. We must handle it seriously!”

“I’m aware of the details, but the incident has indeed caused quite a stir.”

“Let’s not talk about him. It makes my blood boil,” Qi Yongchun continued,

“He’s a real troublemaker. Just got locked up and already started fights inside. Completely lawless. I’ll personally supervise this case; we need to deal with it promptly.”

There was silence for a few seconds, He Jiaxing said nothing.

Qi Yongchun felt that the atmosphere was wrong and asked,

“What’s the matter? Are there any new directives?”

“I know you want to deal with him, but do you know who he is?”
