Chapter 2242: Chapter 2243: In-depth Investigation
Lin Yi sat for over half an hour, watching the video again.
He still couldn’t find any problems.
Moreover, there was another person in the cell across from him, also suffering from high blood pressure and taking dication daily, but without any issues.
Based on the evidence at hand, Lin Yi pondered for a long ti but couldn’t co up with an explanation.
“How’s it going, any progress?”
Song Gang walked in and asked.
...
Lin Yi shook his head, “I’m planning to go to the Songjiang precinct and ask the dical room’s in-charge about Ma Dehong’s physical condition. If we still can’t find any problems, I guess I’ll just chalk it up to bad luck.”
“That’s good, taking a look on-site might yield more findings.”
“I’m really indebted to Brother Gang for this; you’ve been a great help to .”
Song Gang patted Lin Yi on the shoulder.
“Let tell you the truth. When you called yesterday, I was assigned a particularly troubleso task that I really didn’t want to undertake. When you called away, our superiors delegated it to soone else. To be honest, I should be the one thanking you.”
“Ha ha…”
The two n laughed it off and then left the office to attend to their own matters.
Lin Yi drove to the Songjiang precinct, intending to contact Sun Ying, but he stumbled upon Ling Han there.
It had been a long ti since their last al together at the Xinshan team.
Facing Ling Han again, Lin Yi had cald down considerably.
“What brings you here?”
Seeing Lin Yi, Ling Han approached to greet him without revealing his identity.
“It’s about Ma Dehong. It’s fine that he died, but we have to figure out the reason.”
“You’re right,” Ling Han said with a smile as he ran his fingers through his hair.
“It’s a good thing I don’t have much to do today. I’ll accompany you around. Just tell directly if you need anything; I’ve got so weight to throw around here.”
“That’s perfect, having you by my side will save a lot of trouble.”
“Boss, you’re sick. Why are you running around with him? Go ho and rest for a while.”
Ling Han’s companion, Zhao Su, spoke up.
It wasn’t because he had a crush on Ling Han but rather a simple distaste for Lin Yi.
“What are you talking about? He’s here on official business; we have to cooperate. Go do your own work.”
Reprimanded by Ling Han, Zhao Su muttered under his breath for a while before reluctantly departing.
“Team Leader Lin, don’t mind him. He’s young and hot-blooded; he’ll get over it in ti,” Ling Han said quietly when they were alone.
“Don’t worry; I won’t stoop to his level, and actually, I think it’s quite good. It shows he has a competitive spirit, which is fine as long as he’s willing to work hard,” Lin Yi responded.
“As for you, if you’re not feeling well, go ho and rest. I can work with Sun Ying instead.”
“Don’t listen to his nonsense; it’s just a gastric cold, nothing serious,” Ling Han said.
“Let’s go handle Ma Dehong’s case. Tell what you want to investigate, and I’ll have soone dig up the information for you.”
“Let’s check the dical room. I’d like to have a talk with the person in charge there.”
“Alright, let make a call to the departnt.”
After saying this, Ling Han took out his phone.
“Sis Wang, are you at the departnt? I need to talk to you about sothing.”
“Okay, I’ll be right there.”
After discussing the business, Ling Han ended the call.
“Let’s go; she’s in the departnt.”
“Let’s go.”
Led by Ling Han, the two headed to the detention center’s dical room.
A woman in her thirties was sitting at the office desk in the dical room, not much older than Ling Han, with hair that barely touched her shoulders, wearing a white coat, and possessing a delicate and pretty lon-seed face, exuding a gentle intellectual beauty.
The woman’s na was Wang i Jia, the person in charge of the dical room.
Ma Dehong’s daily blood pressure dication was distributed by her.
“Have you brought your boyfriend to see ?”
“Can we not talk about boyfriends? Why is it that every ti I bring a man here, you make fun of ?”
“It’s because you’re getting on in age. If you don’t find a boyfriend and get married soon, you’ll lose your edge,” Wang i Jia seriously stated.
“Also, let tell you, once a woman hits thirty, her bodily functions deteriorate day by day, and the risks associated with childbirth increase. You should take a leaf out of my book; at thirty-five, my kid is already in elentary school.”
“Mainly because the guys I et can’t compare to your husband, otherwise I’d have been married long ago.”
“I think you’re just too intense; you’ve got a stomach bug with vomiting and diarrhea, and you’re still lingering at work. If it were , I would have taken a leave and gone ho already.”
“Enough of that, let’s drop the subject.” Ling Han changed the topic and introduced her to Lin Yi:
“He’s from the Xinshan branch office, in charge of the Ma Dehong case. He ca today to find out more.”
“Just ask directly anything you want to know; we’re all on the sa side.”
It was clear that Ling Han and Wang i Jia were on good terms, so Lin Yi didn’t bother with formality and asked directly:
“I want to know what brand of blood pressure dication Ma Dehong was taking every day. I’d like to see it.”
“Betalek, the sa as in hospitals.”
Wang i Jia rummaged through a drawer of her desk, found a box of dication, and handed it to Lin Yi.
“This is the dication.”
Lin Yi took the box and scanned it briefly, not looking closely.
Betalek was all too familiar to him; it’s a very common blood pressure dication.
Patients would be prescribed this drug even at the hospital.
Moreover, his own mother took this dication, so there were no issues with it.
If that were the case, there seed to be no problems at all.
Could it really be just coincidence that Ma Dehong happened to have high blood pressure when he was there?
Although possible, Lin Yi was still reluctant to believe it.
“It looks like there’s no issue with this part,” said Ling Han. “Maybe we should investigate in a different direction?”
Lin Yi nodded but remained expressionless, deep in thought.
Although he verbally agreed, he did not take any substantive actions.
Ling Han sat beside him nonchalantly, waiting for Lin Yi’s response.
“I want to ask if you personally deliver all these dications to the patients?”
“Not exactly,” Wang i Jia replied.
“Prison guards co here to collect it and then deliver it directly to the inmates.”
“Collect?”
“Yes,” Wang i Jia said, getting up and walking to a cabinet. She took out a transparent, sealed bag, which was about half the size of a palm.
Lin Yi looked over, noticing a section of pills and a small slip of paper inside. The paper had a printed na and the cell number of an inmate, with nothing else on it.
“I prepare the inmates’ required dications in advance, put them in these small bags, and have the guards sign when they co to collect. After taking what’s needed, our handover is done.”
