Chapter 2244: Chapter 2245: The Misfortune of Samsung’s Lee Family
The entire process took a little over an hour. The attending physician of People’s Hospital ca out, looking relaxed.
“Doctor, how’s the condition of the prisoner?” asked Wang i Jia, stepping forward.
“Cerebral hemorrhage, but the amount of bleeding isn’t much. His blood pressure has already co down. With so good rest and recovery, it shouldn’t be a big problem,” the doctor explained.
“However, he needs to be more cautious in the future. The antihypertensive dication must be kept up with. If sothing happens again, at best, he’ll be in a vegetative state.”
“That’s impossible.”
Wang i Jia imdiately countered, “I’m the one in charge of that, and the antihypertensive dication is prepared daily.”
...
After speaking, Wang i Jia looked over at the prison guards, “Little Tang, tell , isn’t that right?”
Tang Yongjun nodded, “His dication is delivered by every day, and I’ve watched him take it. By all accounts, this shouldn’t happen.”
“Then that’s odd,” the doctor continued,
“After he was brought in, his blood pressure reached 210. If he had taken his dication, this shouldn’t be possible.”
“I’m baffled as well.”
“Could it be that your dication is expired?”
“How could that be?” Wang i Jia asserted firmly,
“dication in places like ours is centrally procured. If there were expired dications, the pharmaceutical company couldn’t afford that responsibility.”
“Then we’ll need to investigate other causes. Ask around to see if his condition could have been caused by emotional stress; there could be various factors.”
“Okay, thank you.”
With the patient now stable, Lin Yi and Wang i Jia didn’t linger at the hospital.
The rest could be handled by people from the precinct; there was no need for them to be involved.
The two left the hospital and got back into their car, driving towards the precinct.
“Director Wang, I wanted to ask, the patient who was just admitted, was his na Sun Xueqiang?”
“Hmm? How do you know?”
“Didn’t you hand a packet of dication? It had Sun Xueqiang’s na written on it.”
“No wonder Little Han has been singing your praises so much. Your insight really is extraordinary,” said Wang i Jia,
“But it puzzles , why would there be a bleeding point? In the entire detention center, we only had two people with high blood pressure. Ma Dehong died, and now Sun Xueqiang has been hospitalized due to his blood pressure. Looks like I have to go back and file an inspection report.”
“Don’t you think that’s a rather unusual occurrence?”
“It’s not just unusual, it’s extrely strange.”
“Both Sun Xueqiang and the deceased Ma Dehong experienced sudden high blood pressure despite taking their dications as normal,” Lin Yi remarked,
“If it were only Ma Dehong’s case, it might be called a coincidence, but it’s very strange that the sa happened to Sun Xueqiang.”
“Indeed.”
Wang i Jia’s expression turned serious, “But these two n seem very ordinary, without noteworthy backgrounds. Their identities don’t intersect or overlap. For both to have the sa thing happen is very peculiar.”
“That’s why we need to continue with the investigation.”
Shortly after, Lin Yi drove Wang i Jia back, “Director Wang, let’s leave it here for today. We’ll be in touch if anything cos up.”
“Okay.”
After dropping off Wang i Jia, Lin Yi drove back to the Xinshan branch office and started reviewing Sun Xueqiang’s information on the computer.
According to the records from the Songjiang precinct, Sun Qingqiang was a migrant worker who ca to the city.
Unable to pay compensation after a drunken brawl, he had been detained there for a month.
In the public security system’s records, he had no criminal history; overall, he was a clean slate.
So in that sense, he was essentially different from Ma Dehong.
There was no reason for anyone to harm him.
Yet, the sa incident had happened to both, which was very strange.
“What are you thinking about? You haven’t moved at all.”
While Lin Yi was lost in thought, Li Xianghui walked in from outside.
“I’m stuck on a case and trying to think through so leads.”
“Is it a case transferred from the Songjiang precinct?”
Lin Yi nodded and recounted the situation to Li Xianghui.
“That’s a bit strange, then. I suggest you start with the dication,” said Li Xianghui,
“If there’s nothing wrong with the dication, it wouldn’t likely cause such an incident.”
“Are you suggesting I check that batch of dication?”
“Well, why not? It’s the only lead you have to follow at the mont; you might discover sothing.”
After listening to Li Xianghui’s suggestion, Lin Yi recalled what the doctor at the hospital had said.
That doctor, too, thought the dication might be the issue, but it was refuted by Wang i Jia.
But just as Li Xianghui ntioned, apart from this lead, it seed there was nowhere else to probe.
After speaking, Lin Yi dialed Wang i Jia’s number.
“Officer Lin, do you need sothing?”
“I’d like to inquire about the batch of dication they were taking. Could you send a few samples?”
“You suspect an issue with the dication too?”
“Let’s start there, since there seems to be no other channel of investigation.”
“Mhm, okay,” Wang i Jia agreed generously,
“I’ll drop by the dication at the lab for testing and let you know the results.”
“That’ll be great, thanks for your help, Director Wang.”
“You’re a looker; it’s no trouble at all, but if it were soone less appealing, that would be a different story, haha…”
“Haha…”
They both laughed and chatted for a bit before hanging up. Now, it was a matter of waiting for the lab results.
Ring, ring, ring—
Just then, Lin Yi’s phone rang. It was He Yuanyuan calling.
“The Samsung people have arrived, but they seem unwilling to pay up. How did you guys negotiate this?”
“Not paying? What money? Are you still half asleep?”
“How could a good employee like possibly sleep on the job,” claid He Yuanyuan shalessly,
“I’m talking about the three-party collaboration. Samsung’s representative arrived a day early and t privately with and Brother Qi. They are thinking about delaying the initial investnt of 1.8 billion for half a year before transferring the money.”
Hearing this, Lin Yi understood the situation.
Lee Yongjin had previously discussed a partnership when she ca to China. Lin Yi hadn’t been concerned about it and left it entirely in Ji Qingyan’s hands; presumably, the matter was already being put into action.
“Are you certain that’s what Samsung’s side has said?”
“I’m not deaf, there’s no way I misheard,” He Yuanyuan retorted,
“But they didn’t say they wouldn’t pay, only that they want to delay for half a year. They promised to transfer the funds as soon as possible afterward, even considering interest. And for the initial project expenses, they suggested our side and the Mitsui Group cover them.”
Upon hearing this, Lin Yi frowned. It all seed odd.
Lee Yongjin had approached him for the collaboration, and she was well aware of who he was.
Their intention to partner with him was not genuinely for a mutual win but to fend off comrcial strikes from the Freemasons.
Logically, they should be very proactive and unlikely to cause trouble like this.
So what was going on?
