“Got the gifts ready?” Lin Yi was taken aback, “What’s the occasion for gifts?”
“Don’t you rember what day it is today?”

“Stop pretending, I guessed you’d forget.”
Despite saying this, Ji Qingyan was not angry at all.
“Today is Valentine’s Day.”

“I’ve been a bit busy recently, completely forgot about the holiday. I’ll make it up to you later.”
“I’m almost a mom, if I still fuss about this, it would show my immaturity. Rembering is best, but it’s okay if you forget; it’s not a big deal.”
Ji Qingyan took out a small box about the size of an A4 paper, Lin Yi opened it and was slightly surprised:
“A photo album?”
Ji Qingyan nodded excitedly, “Open it and see.”
Lin Yi casually opened the album, found that it was filled with Ji Qingyan’s portraits, but she was dressed rather lightly.

“This gift is quite thoughtful indeed, giving a private collection of your photos.”

“I wanted to keep them as a mory,” Ji Qingyan explained:
“Every month I’m planning to take a few pictures, watching my belly gradually change. I want to keep these mories.”
As she spoke, Ji Qingyan’s expression was unusually serious, as if lost in a beautiful reverie.
Initially, Lin Yi wanted to tease Ji Qingyan for being vain by taking these photos.
But seeing the smile on her face, Lin Yi suddenly thought it might be maternal love.
“I’ve decided I want to have a second child.”
“Out of nowhere, why think about having a second child?” Lin Yi asked:
“Didn’t you say that pregnancy and taking care of children would greatly hinder your work, and that one child was enough? Why the sudden change of heart?”
“I used to think so, but these past few days, I thought about it. Decades later, when we are both gone, leaving our child alone in this world feels too lonely. I hope there can be another person, sharing the sa blood, living together in this world. I don’t ask them to shelter each other from the storm, but just to have each other’s company. By then, I might rest easier in the other world.”
Lin Yi smiled softly, gently stroking her smooth long hair.
The child-like innocence and cloud-soft gentleness in Ji Qingyan are unmatched by anyone.
Previously, Lin Yi had so anticipation for the mission assigned by the Central Guards Brigade, but now, he found that the Ji Qingyan in front of him and their unborn child were what he truly needed to protect.
He was never afraid of putting his life on the line before, but now, he seed to be.
“Alright, let’s not talk about this now,” Ji Qingyan said:
“With this photo album, you can look at it whenever you miss , hehe.”

“Go find sothing for yourself to do; I still have work to handle, can’t accompany you.”
“I didn’t have much to do anyway; just ca to see you. I’ll head to the branch office now.”
“Then you get busy. I want to go watch a movie tonight.”

Lin Yi nodded, gave a few reminders to Ji Qingyan, then left Chaoyang Group and headed towards the Xinshan branch office.

“It’s not criminal cases,” Gu Yiran said while tidying her hair:

Lin Yi nodded, understanding.
For him, this was also a good thing.

“Is there anything I can help with here?”
“I’m just organizing files here, all bits and pieces, you probably won’t be interested. If you have nothing better to do, you can check out the civil affairs division, they are overwheld with work.”

After greeting, Lin Yi went to the civil affairs division and found only Zhang Zixin there, who was busy with sothing on the computer.

Seeing Lin Yi walking in, Zhang Zixin stood up with a smile.

“Just now soone called to report a fight, they went to deal with it. These past few days have been insanely busy for everybody, not getting ho until after 10 PM, and I’ve got several acne from the stress.”

During their chat, the phone on the office desk rang, and Zhang Zixin casually answered the call.
“Hello.”
“Okay, I got it, heading there now.”
Soon after, Zhang Zixin hung up the phone, Lin Yi asked:
“Is there a case?”
“Over on Xiafei Road, soone ran over a dog, the parties couldn’t agree, so they called the police,” Zhang Zixin complained, “Lots of these cases lately.”
“Let’s go then, I’ll co with you to check it out.”
“Sure.”
To trigger a system task, Lin Yi actively took the initiative and headed to the scene with Zhang Zixin. It took less than twenty minutes to arrive at Xiafei Road.
“A big crowd ahead, looks like that’s the spot,” Zhang Zixin poked her head out and said:
“But that car looks like a Rolls-Royce, could it be the car involved?”
“We’ll know once we get there.”
