Chapter 2508: Chapter 2509: Guessed One Thing, But Not the Other
Yanjing.
Liang Xianghe was sitting in the courtyard drinking tea. On the small square table lay a map of Japan, intricately detailed, with even the smallest of locations marked without omission.
This was an internal resource map of the Central Guards Brigade, updated every six months and unavailable on the market.
Liang Xianghe’s eyes were fixed on the map as he picked up his teacup with one hand. Just as he brought it to his lips, he felt a tinge of unease.
He suddenly turned his head and saw a scruffy middle-aged man walking up from behind.
Liang Xianghe frowned. Seeing Lin Jingzhan at this ti and place was unexpected yet sowhat reasonable.
“So you just co and go quietly, huh?” Liang Xianghe remarked.
“Showing off, are you?”
Lin Jingzhan sat across from Liang Xianghe and poured himself a cup of tea, seemingly unconcerned.
“Don’t say that. The people outside are pretty tough—I had to make quite an effort to sneak in.” Lin Jingzhan chuckled and imdiately shifted the conversation:
“Any updates from Japan?”
“About ten hours ago, we received word from his side. He was safe then, but now, who knows.”
“I hear Japan is under martial law?” Lin Jingzhan asked.
Liang Xianghe nodded, his voice growing heavy:
“The airports are heavily militarized. Every traveler must undergo strict inspections to board a plane. Cargo flights have been suspended. Japan isn’t like Panem—it doesn’t border any other countries. With their asures, this entire nation has turned into a cage. No one can get out.”
“These sons of bitches are pretty capable, huh.” Lin Jingzhan smacked his lips and said:
“I have to admit, your tea here is better than anywhere else.”
“How can you not be worried at all?”
“He’s my son. He’s not that easy to kill.”
Lin Jingzhan had no grand expectations for Lin Yi—he simply hoped he’d stay alive.
“True, with his skills, coming back shouldn’t be an issue. However, he hasn’t taken advantage of this opportunity,” Liang Xianghe added:
“And you need to understand—last year in Panem, he had a capable team with him. Now, by his side is a woman who can’t even fend for herself, a complete liability. The outcos may not be so optimistic.”
Lin Jingzhan’s hand paused briefly.
A capable team and an unard woman were two completely different matters.
Coupled with Japan’s current situation, things seed increasingly bleak.
“What intel do you have on your end?” Liang Xianghe inquired.
“Mammon, Halke Cavalry, Black Forest, God’s Army, Freemasons… mbers from all these organizations have infiltrated Japan. On my way here, I even ambushed two groups—otherwise, I’d have arrived sooner.”
Lin Jingzhan sat on the small stool, shrugging:
“I initially wanted to just watch the show. Now, with that troubleso woman around, things won’t be easy to handle.”
Liang Xianghe frowned deeply. Any one of those infamous organizations was no less formidable than Poker.
Japan at the mont was far more chaotic and dangerous than either of them had imagined.
Such a scenario had been entirely unforeseen.
For these people who live on the edge of a knife, the allure of ancient texts was deadly.
“Seems like we need to co up with a solution. Otherwise, who’ll take care of in my old age?”
“The problem is, his mind is sharper than yours. There are tis I can’t keep up with his pace.”
“That cleverness is just like , haha…”
“That cheeky attitude is identical to yours, too.” Liang Xianghe chuckled.
Lin Jingzhan grinned awkwardly. “Let’s change the topic. Are you still able to contact him?”
“I haven’t received any updates on him. The opposition must have implented area-wide signal blocking—this is a dangerous sign,” Liang Xianghe stated:
“It’ll only be possible to reconnect once he changes locations.”
“Let’s figure out what his next move might be.”
“I’ve considered many possibilities, but none seem to offer decisive solutions.”
Liang Xianghe lit a cigarette and handed another to Lin Jingzhan. The latter pulled out a lighter and lit it for him.
“Flights and shipping routes are all sealed—he simply can’t escape.”
Lin Jingzhan took a deep drag from his cigarette.
“Sealed flights and routes only apply to passenger planes and cargo ships, right?”
“Correct, but that’s already significant enough.”
After a few seconds of silence, Lin Jingzhan flicked so ash off his cigarette.
“There’s actually another way to leave Japan.”
“Another way?”
Lin Jingzhan nodded.
“But this thod is pretty crazy—just thinking about it makes my scalp tingle.”
Liang Xianghe glanced at Lin Jingzhan, his expression tightening as his mouth twitched slightly.
“You wouldn’t be talking about that thod, right?”
“That’s correct—the planes at the Self-Defense Force base can still be used!”
The two exchanged a look, each seeing mutual shock and disbelief in the other’s eyes.
Initially, Liang Xianghe felt the idea was absurd and outlandish.
But after a few seconds, he changed his mind.
Lin Yi was soone who couldn’t be asured by conventional reasoning—no one could predict his thoughts.
Just like before, who could have imagined his target would be Yokosuka?
“But executing this plan might prove to be quite challenging,” Liang Xianghe said in a low voice.
“It’d be difficult for you to handle—this has to fall to .”
Silently, Lin Jingzhan lit another cigarette and said:
“I can find him a place in the Middle East where the plane can land. The only problem now is establishing contact with him.”
“Do you really think this is what he’s planning?” Liang Xianghe sipped his tea and mused:
“It’s impossible to guess his thoughts. He might have entirely different ideas in mind.”
“I don’t think so—this is the only feasible plan that could actually be implented.”
Lin Jingzhan shrugged. “Of course, if he cos up with an even better solution, that’d be excellent.”
Liang Xianghe lit yet another cigarette, dense smoke swirling around them.
“Let’s tentatively arrange things this way. Once we establish contact, we’ll share this plan with him.”
“Sounds good.”
Buzz buzz buzz—
As the two were speaking, a military-green jeep pulled up beside them.
Monts later, Liu Hong and Ning Che stepped out of the vehicle.
Seeing Lin Jingzhan present, both were visibly surprised.
The faint sense of oppression that lingered made both of them feel uneasy.
Lin Jingzhan gave them a slight nod, acknowledging their arrival.
The two reciprocated with brief nods before Liu Hong said:
“Elder Lu, we have news from Lin Yi.”
“What did he say?” Liang Xianghe quickly set down his teacup and leaned forward.
Even Lin Jingzhan turned his eyes to Liu Hong, eager to hear about Lin Yi’s situation.
“His plan is a bit insane.” Liu Hong smirked:
“In the email, he said he intends to acquire an F15 fighter jet.”
The pair froze temporarily before bursting into laughter.
“You see? I told you so—I knew it!”
Liang Xianghe laughed heartily, his face wrinkled from amusent.
Liu Hong and Ning Che exchanged baffled looks, with Liu Hong asking reflexively:
“Elder Lu, you guessed this already?”
Liang Xianghe nodded with a chuckle.
The two were taken aback, not expecting them to anticipate Lin Yi’s next move—sothing ordinary people couldn’t easily predict.
But upon reflection, given the abilities of these two, such deduction seed plausible.
“Liang Xianghe, since you’ve already guessed it, I’ll cut to the chase,” Liu Hong said:
“Lin Yi plans to get his hands on an F15 and coordinate for intercept as he approaches our side…”
