Lin Yi nodded, then stepped outside and dialed Chen Shihua’s number.
“Director Chen, I want to finalize the procedures. Are you available now?” Lin Yi said courteously.
“I’m occupied at the mont. You can go look for Little Liu, she’s the doctor who delivered your wife’s baby. I already inford her, you can just contact her. I’ll send over her number.”
“Alright, thank you, Director Chen.”
“Not a problem. I have to go now; we’ll talk more later after everything’s done.”
“Okay.”
Chen Shihua hung up the phone decisively, without any unnecessary delay.
These academic big shots all seem to have similar temperants.

Soon enough, Chen Shihua sent over the contact number. Lin Yi found out the doctor’s na was Liu Li.
“Hello, is this Dr. Liu?”
“Hello, who’s this?”
“I’m Lin Yi. I want to finalize my child’s procedures. Is now convenient for you?”
“Convenient, convenient. I’m at Clinic B, Room 308. You can find here.”
Upon realizing it was Lin Yi calling, Liu Li’s tone instantly improved.
Facing soone like him, even if it wasn’t convenient, she wouldn’t dare to say so.

Having been to Union dical College before, Lin Yi was sowhat familiar with the place.
He walked leisurely to the outpatient building and found Liu Li in Room 308 on the third floor in gynecology.
But at the mont, her office was crowded with several doctors. Sitting nearby was a middle-aged couple dressed modestly, their expressions filled with confusion.

“You all carry on with your work; I’ll co back later.”

Liu Li brought Lin Yi into the room and picked up a few freshly printed A4 sheets from the desk.
“Principal Lin, just take these back and fill them out. A nurse will co collect them later.”
“Thank you, Director Liu.”
“Sister Liu, who’s this from which departnt? Such a young director?”
The question ca from a male doctor, about forty years old, wearing glasses, with an old-fashioned hairstyle.
His na was Li Dongsheng, a gynecology attending physician.
With his level of skill, it wouldn’t be a problem to beco a departnt head at another hospital.
But at Union dical College, he was just an ordinary attending physician, with a long path ahead in his career.
“He’s not from our hospital. He was previously the cardiothoracic director at Huashan Hospital, but he’s resigned now.” Liu Li said with a smile.
“I’ve heard of Huashan’s cardiothoracic departnt. There’s a very capable Director surnad Li there.” Li Dongsheng said:
“But soone this young, can he really match up to Director Li?”

Liu Li paused. She wasn’t very familiar with Lin Yi’s background, only hearing bits from Director Chen.
“Director Chen ntioned that Principal Lin is an expert in clinical dicine, with abilities and knowledge surpassing ours.” Liu Li said with a smile:
“During the childbirth surgery earlier, he was the one who handled everything. I even learned quite a bit from him.”

Hearing this, the several doctors froze.
“A gynecology doctor learning from a cardiothoracic doctor? This sounds a bit off.” Li Dongsheng remarked.
Though they were all in the sa dical field, crossing specialties was indeed like a gap between industries—how could you possibly learn anything?
“You better believe it. Principal Lin’s skills are just that remarkable.” Liu Li said:
“I wouldn’t dare say anything else, but if he joined our cardiothoracic departnt at Union dical College, he’d definitely qualify for the position of deputy director.”
Li Dongsheng seed unimpressed, thinking Liu Li might be exaggerating.
Lin Yi didn’t bother to argue with him. He ca to deal with procedures and now that he had the papers, there was no need to stay.
“Wait, doctor, don’t leave.”
As Lin Yi turned to leave, the middle-aged man sitting nearby called out to stop him.
“What’s up?”
“Dr. Liu said you’re very skilled. Could you take a look at my wife’s condition?”
The middle-aged man’s tone was sincere, and his eyes were filled with hope.
This reminded Lin Yi of his days at Huashan Hospital.
Lin Yi steadied his posture and looked toward Liu Li.
“What’s their situation?”
“Half a year ago, she ca in once, complaining of discomfort all over, though no obvious symptoms. When she’s busy during the day, the discomfort lessens, but at night during sleep, the symptoms worsen.” Liu Li explained:
“She’s undergone all sorts of tests, but nothing is wrong.”
“Another rare illness, huh.” Lin Yi muttered.
Union dical College specializes in rare and challenging diseases, far more advanced than Huashan Hospital.
But if even Liu Li couldn’t diagnose the problem, it ant this illness was far rarer than expected.
“Doctor, we’re counting on you. If the illness remains untreated, what will my wife do for the rest of her life?”
The middle-aged man wiped away tears.
His coarse hands revealed his passionate love for his wife.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure this illness is treated.”
“Thank you, doctor, thank you so much.”
Lin Yi nodded and moved to the side with Liu Li and the other doctors.
“Principal Lin, this illness is quite rare. Are you sure you can handle it?”
“The patients are here seeking treatnt. They need a ray of hope.” Lin Yi said:
“With a positive and optimistic attitude, many illnesses can heal on their own.”
“We understand that reasoning too, but there are limits to its application.” Li Dongsheng said:
“For example, if a patient has cancer, would you tell them this? That would be deceiving them, wouldn’t it?”
“I also think as doctors, we need to stay realistic. Giving patients assurances without understanding the cause is irresponsible.” Another doctor added.
“But they’ve been investigating for half a year without finding anything. Leaving it hanging like this isn’t a solution either.” Lin Yi countered softly.
“This is called being realistic.” Li Dongsheng said: “As a professional doctor, it’s the most basic standard.”
Lin Yi chuckled. “Are you questioning my professional skills?”
“I wouldn’t go that far.” Li Dongsheng snorted lightly, “But I can’t agree with your thods.”
“Alright, let’s focus on the disease discussion first. We can talk about other things later.”
Liu Li tried to diate the situation and looked toward Lin Yi.
“Principal Lin, do you have any good recomndations for this case?”
“Could it be anxiety or depression leading to neurological sensory disorders?”
