Chapter 2672: Chapter 2673: Heretic

“Don’t be so surprised, it looks like there are these kinds of statues everywhere around here.”

Lin Yi’s phone light shone toward other places.

The three of them saw hundreds of bizarre and twisted statues surrounding the space before them.

With a diater of a hundred ters, it was like a massive plaza.

Most importantly, all these eerie things were made of bronze.

Seeing this scene, all three of them were shocked.

Quickly, they cald their emotions and gradually adapted to the environnt before them.

They began to explore cautiously and carefully.

Under the illumination of the phone’s light, what ca into view were one statue after another.

So had wings…

So were faceless…

So had elongated arms and legs…

In the dark and damp environnt, looking at hundreds of strange statues, an invisible pressure lood over them.

Now the three finally understood why Ma Biao said this was God’s Tomb.

For the people of that era, using God’s Tomb to describe this scene would be more than appropriate.

But for the three of them, without lighting equipnt, this scene was more like purgatory from mythology.

“Look at mine over here, the head is actually triangular,” Zhang Chaoyue said.

“A triangle is nothing; mine doesn’t even have a head at all. It seems like two lower halves of bodies combined together.”

“Mine is even more impressive, with over twenty hands, definitely a Thousand-Ard Guanyin.”

While the two were talking, Lin Yi was also observing.

The bizarre statues before him raised a new question in his mind.

“Were these things built based on human imagination?”

Lin Yi tried to put himself in the sa mindset.

If he were to let his creativity flow to design these oddities, at most he could draw out a dozen.

But there were over a hundred statues right in front of him; such imagination, Lin Yi had to admire.

After inspecting the statues in front of them, the three began to explore other areas.

“Boss, look at the patterns on the ground, they seem like the Tai Chi Diagram,” Zhang Chaoyue said.

“Yeah, I noticed.”

Lin Yi had a rich spatial imagination.

Now that Zhang Chaoyue also noticed, his guess must have been right.

The area before them was engraved with a massive Tai Chi Diagram.

“Boss, there’s a discovery!”

Hearing Zhao Yunhu’s shout, Lin Yi snapped back to reality and, along with Zhang Chaoyue, headed to the central position.

Upon arriving there, Lin Yi shone his phone’s light and found a pile of white ashes on the ground.

“What’s this? Soone burned paper here?”

Lin Yi squatted down, picked up a little, and felt it in his hand, his expression changing.

“This isn’t paper; it’s human ashes.”

“Ashes?!”

Lin Yi nodded, his expression turning serious.

“Judging from the scene, this should be the main burial chamber. The owner of the ashes is likely the builder of this grand tomb.”

“But from the looks of it, the tomb owner seems to be a person from Daoism,” Zhang Chaoyue said.

Lin Yi nodded, “But in the history of Daoism, I’ve never heard of anyone so formidable as to build such a bronze tomb.”

“We should search elsewhere; we might discover sothing new.”

Lin Yi nodded, and the three split up to proceed.

About ten minutes later, Zhao Yunhu’s voice was heard again.

“Boss, quick, there’s another new discovery.”

The two hurried over and discovered beside Zhao Yunhu, a cylindrical pit roughly a ter in diater.

The surrounding wall was particularly smooth, with a depth of about a ter as well.

Overall, it felt like a secret compartnt, but why it was designed this way was unknown.

Zhao Yunhu jumped down and felt around the bottom.

“Boss, there’s a groove here.”

“A groove?”

Lin Yi crouched down and saw the groove Zhao Yunhu talked about.

The groove was not large, with a depth of about an inch and the diater of a ping pong ball.

“I feel like sothing was ant to be placed here; otherwise, there’d be no need to design it like this.”

“It could very likely be for that statue,” Lin Yi said.

Their eyes lit up, agreeing with Lin Yi’s idea.

“This cylindrical pit should be the yang pole in the yin block, a very special place; placing a statue here for preservation makes perfect sense.”

With that thought, Lin Yi suddenly stood up, “Let’s check the other side.”

The two knew what Lin Yi referred to and rushed to the other side.

Tai Chi emphasizes the balance of yin and yang, and many things are symtric.

If there is a chanism compartnt in the yang pole of the yin block, then naturally there is another in the yin pole of the yang block!

Coming to the other side, they found that the secret compartnt had been opened.

But there were cut marks on the edges, suggesting it had been forcibly opened.

However, the interior structure was identical, with no differences.

“Boss, there’s the sa kind of groove inside,” Zhao Yunhu said.

“Sothing’s not right,” Zhang Chaoyue said:

“Considering the arrangent, there must have been things in these two compartnts, and we’ve only found one, aning another is missing outside.”

Zhang Chaoyue’s analysis earned the approval of both others.

But for now, they couldn’t figure out why.

Squeak—

At that mont, the sound of a door axle turning was heard!

The three of them felt a jolt of alarm, their hair standing on end!

At such a mont, it was impossible for anyone else to show up here!

The three of them stared intently at the revolving bronze wall!

Soon, there was a half-ter-wide gap, and simultaneously, a strong light shone inside.

With the light, Lin Yi saw a not particularly tall figure protrude from inside.

The person’s movents were extrely adept; he was even talking to the people behind him, not nervous at all, unlike Lin Yi who was so cautious.

Soon, the person who first explored was standing, and the people on both sides locked eyes!

The foreigner holding the lighting actually froze, but quickly gathered himself.

“Run fast!”

“Damn, chase them!”

Lin Yi called out, and the three of them imdiately rushed forward!

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Just as the three rushed out, they heard gunfire, sparking as it hit the bronze walls.

Lin Yi flipped around, pulling the other two down to dodge, and no one was hurt!

Bam! Bam! Bam!

The enemy employed a thod of heavy fire suppression to obstruct Lin Yi’s pursuit.

Though disorderly, in this place without cover, it was extraordinarily effective.

Zhao Yunhu and Zhang Chaoyue seized the mont to shoot twice, forcing the enemy back.

But it didn’t have any real effect, as their objective was to retreat.

Gradually, the gunfire ceased, and silence descended upon their surroundings.

Only the sound of their own heartbeats remained, yet Lin Yi dared not act recklessly.

Because the danger, was not over yet…
