On the other end of the phone, there was a long silence.
Finally, there ca an arrogant laugh.
"No wonder you are the rit Team Leader of the Central Guards Brigade; you found so quickly. I look forward to our next encounter."
With that, Gler hung up the phone voluntarily, and Lin Yi tossed aside Ma Ben’s phone.
"These n in front of us, their limbs have been broken, and they cannot move. I’ll have this guy Zhu Jinhua take them away," Ning Che said:
"And then let the foreman hurry up and deal with this batch of goods."
Lin Yi nodded, as Ning Che’s arrangent was what he had in mind.
After busying about, it was around eight in the morning before everything was sorted out, and the steel mill was closed.
"I’ll send soone to guard the mine over there."
Ning Che knew the importance of the mine to Lin Yi’s overall plan.
If Gler causes trouble again, it will affect Lin Yi’s plan.
"Thank you for your hard work," Lin Yi said:
"But there’s no need to make a big fuss; we’re all adults here, and we should keep our dignity."
"I understand what you an."
"Let’s go back first."
Ning Che responded, and the two of them drove back to the hospital.
Upon returning, the state of the three had improved sowhat, giving Lin Yi so peace of mind.
After staying at the hospital for a while, Lin Yi returned to the brigade; he was about to depart and needed to talk with Liu Hong about these matters.
"Poker sent over so more information; take a look,"
Saying this, Liu Hong pushed a thick stack of docunts in front of Lin Yi.
The contents were evidently organized.
But there wasn’t much text; most were pictures.
"There are no big issues with our protective gear, right?"
"You’ve got your wife and kids; why worry about these?"
"What if we end up with mutations?"
"Rest assured, there won’t be any problems in this regard," Liu Hong laughed heartily, and said:
"Poker has done a preliminary investigation; it’s only about a few dozen ters distance, the situation inside will be much better."
After speaking, Liu Hong paused and continued:
"Look at the murals on the walls; they might have significant anings. Pay attention, as they might record very important information."
"But the problem is, we have quite a lot of related materials already, yet it seems difficult to decipher."
"We’ve studied this during the eting with Elder Liang; there might be a missing link. If it can be found, things will fall into place."
"A missing link?"
"Sothing like a translation text and the like."
"That’s a bit far-fetched," Lin Yi said:
"The Tilia Civilization existed thousands of years ago, and even branched into several top civilizations. How could there be translation texts left behind? Even if they were brilliant, they couldn’t predict their own demise and then split into hundreds of different countries."
"True, but have you ever thought that parts of the mysterious Mayan and Atlantean civilizations’ texts have been deciphered by humans?"
"Because the ti isn’t as distant," Lin Yi replied:
Compared to the civilization of Tilia Island, "it’s not even in the sa league."
"But there’s also a theoretical possibility, so it’s still worth paying attention; if feasible, record everything inside."
"Alright."
Bam—
Liu Hong casually lit a cigarette and said:
"When are you planning to set off?"
"Tomorrow morning; I’ll check on my wife and kids before leaving."
"Alright, I have nothing here; you can head back first."
Lin Yi nodded, then left the brigade and went to a nearby small supermarket.
He spent 200 yuan buying a case of pure milk and a case of fruit, and went to see Liang Xianghe.
At Liang Xianghe’s place, the two chatted for a while.
Mostly unrelated to work, much of it was about everyday life.
He also asked Lin Yi to water his yard.
After spending so ti at Liang Xianghe’s place, Lin Yi habitually bought so toys for the children before going to see Liang Ruoxu.
As usual, when Lin Yi returned, Liang Ruoxu handed the child to the nanny and went to enjoy so alone ti with Lin Yi.
The dinner was had at ho; while it wasn’t clearly stated, the Liang family knew Lin Yi was going on a mission the next day.
Shen Shuyi personally made a few dishes, although they were simple, but the aning was completely different.
That night, the couple did not work on having a second child; instead, they slept peacefully through the night.
This was also the first ti since having the child that they slept so soundly.
...
Early the next morning, Shen Shuyi got up early to make breakfast for Lin Yi.
Liang Cunxiao and Liang Ruoxu were still asleep.
But as Lin Yi was grabbing clothes and preparing to leave, he saw Shen Shuyi already cooking breakfast in the kitchen.
The scene was slightly awkward.
"No need to hide; how co you’re so shy at your age?"
Lin Yi chuckled, but still found a corner to put on his clothes.
"I’ve heard this mission might be dangerous," Shen Shuyi remarked:
"Apparently you’re heading to open up a new area."
"Yes," Lin Yi nodded.
"What are your thoughts on the Central Guard Brigade?"
While drinking porridge, Lin Yi glanced at Shen Shuyi, "Mom, do you have sothing specific to say?"
"It’s not as complicated as you think; I just want to hear your thoughts."
"I actually haven’t thought much about it; living day by day, like a monk striking the temple bell."
"And about your father’s matter, what do you think?"
"What do I think?" Lin Yi responded:
"Haven’t thought much about it, and find it rather boring."
"Boring?"
Shen Shuyi’s lips revealed a barely noticeable smile.
"If that’s how you feel, I don’t have more to ask."
"Mom, you’re not worried I’ll spend all my ti on the island, are you?"
"Not really concerned; you’re not as pure-minded as your dad; the bustling city life appeals more to you."
"Mom, what you said hurts my heart," Lin Yi teased, "I’m an upright person."
Shen Shuyi smiled and said:
"Both you and I are just cogs in this machine; anyone could replace us. Even if there’s no suitable cog to fill the gap, this machine won’t fall apart. Even should you beco the rit Team Leader of the Central Guards Brigade, you’re still just one of many in this world."
Lin Yi chuckled, "Mom, don’t worry. I’m very clear about my place."
"You’re smart enough to understand without saying it clearly," Shen Shuyi said:
"Without anyone on Earth, it would still rotate, and the sun would rise just the sa, so one must know their limits."
"I understand; if the situation isn’t right, I’ll withdraw without recklessly charging ahead."
"Alright, eat quickly. Don’t be late."
"Got it."
After finishing his al, Lin Yi headed to the military airport, embarking on another journey to the island.
