As they were speaking, the two reached the innermost part of the Scripture Pavilion.
In front of them was a yellow curtain, which Li Fu reached out to draw open.
What ca into view was a row of shelves with an ancient elegance.
The tos placed above were sowhat yellowed, and quite old in age.
"Hmm?"
At this mont, Li Fu’s expression changed.
This change was caught by Lin Yi.
"Master, has sothing happened?"
"Many tos have gone missing from above."
"Missing!"
Lin Yi’s expression changed as well; if this was true, the nature of the matter had shifted.
Li Fu quickly stepped up to inspect the two rows of bookshelves.
Lin Yi stood still, quietly awaiting the conclusion.
"In total, more than twenty tos are missing, all of them are the most precious texts."
"Is there soone guarding this place throughout the year?"
Li Fu nodded, "It’s not really guarded, but outsiders aren’t allowed in."
"If that’s the case, the possibility of an inside job is quite high."
"That’s possible."
Afterward, Li Fu quickly walked to the cabinet at the very back of the Scripture Pavilion.
He opened a drawer that was the least conspicuous, took out a few ancient texts, and felt around inside.
Simultaneously, a compartnt in the upper right corner automatically popped open.
Li Fu moved over a ladder, looked inside the compartnt, and took out two yellowed texts.
"Luckily, these two are still here."
Li Fu brought the texts down and handed them to Lin Yi.
"Mysterious Truth Scripture"
"Innate Dao Tribulation"
"These two tos are both treasures of the Purple Cloud Palace, fortunately, they’re still here," Li Fu said.
"But the missing texts are also extrely important. I’ll call soone to report the theft."
"No need to hurry, Master," Lin Yi said.
"Just act as if nothing ever happened for now, I’ll help you handle it."
"Thank you, Lin Daoist."
"It’s my duty," Lin Yi looked around, "Is there any surveillance here?"
"Yes, there’s also surveillance outside."
"That makes things much easier, let’s head out first."
Li Fu nodded, and the two walked out together.
Just as they exited the Scripture Pavilion’s door, they saw a broom carelessly thrown to the ground, and the disciple who had been cleaning earlier was nowhere to be seen.
The two exchanged a glance, even Li Fu sensed sothing was amiss.
"Was that disciple we saw earlier specifically responsible for cleaning?"
"Besides cleaning the area, he’s supposed to also wipe the bookshelves inside."
"Master, could you get soone to investigate this disciple, see where he went?" Lin Yi said.
"Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t throw things around and then leave."
"I’ll have soone check right away."
Li Fu’s expression was extrely serious, such a thing happening in front of outsiders was quite a disgrace for him.
The two returned to the guest room and called over Senior Brother, explaining roughly what had happened.
"Qingchen, go and see where Zhenyi went."
"Understood, Master."
Senior Brother quickly walked out.
"Lin Daoist, apologies for the embarrassnt."
"I understand, if it turns out that it really was him, it shows the matter has beco very serious, and we’ll make this a priority."
About ten minutes later, Senior Brother ran back.
"Master, soone just saw Zhenyi hurriedly leave, but they don’t know where he went."
"Seems like my guess was right; this disciple nad Zhenyi committed the betrayal," Lin Yi murmured softly.
"If he had found the two texts in my possession, he might have vanished long ago and wouldn’t have stayed until now."
"That’s likely, but he’s already run off, finding him won’t be easy."
Lin Yi looked at Senior Brother and chuckled.
"Can you guess what our departnt actually does?"
Senior Brother shivered.
An indescribable fear spread in his heart.
Lin Yi took out his phone, found the head of the local police departnt in the internal system, and called him.
The intention was simple, just to investigate the remaining people in Purple Cloud Palace.
In Lin Yi’s view, the thods of the opposing party were exceedingly simple, almost amateurish.
They infiltrated the place, making this disciple Zhenyi their undercover agent, giving him so money and benefits to make him work for them.
Once everything was done, his life and death would be irrelevant to them.
The disciples who had cultivated on the mountain for years were all simple-minded.
They didn’t have much insight into the outside world, making them easy targets for bribery.
The local police responded swiftly, arriving at Purple Cloud Palace in less than half an hour.
Lin Yi stepped out of the guest room and saw the arriving police.
"Are you Team Leader Lin?"
The lead officer was in his forties, judging by his epaulet, he must be the local police station’s chief.
"I am, here’s my credentials."
He glanced at Lin Yi’s credentials, his expression flustered.
"L-Lieutenant Colonel..."
A person so young achieving lieutenant colonel rank surely had exceptional abilities.
"The credentials haven’t been updated; I’m a colonel now."
"My apologies."
"No need for formalities," Lin Yi said.
"Have soone investigate all the disciples at Purple Cloud Palace, there might be other infiltrators."
The chief’s expression was extrely serious upon hearing the word ’infiltrator’.
He knew very well what implications those words held.
"Understood, we’ll thoroughly investigate and leave no one unchecked."
"Additionally, pull up all nearby surveillance footage."
"We’ve already sent people to do that, results will be here soon."
"I’ll head to your station shortly to aid the investigation for speed."
"Alright, alright."
With the strategy agreed upon, Lin Yi prepared to go down the mountain.
At that mont, a middle-aged man wearing a vest walked towards them, looking sowhat impatient.
Following him were four or five people.
So were carrying equipnt, one was holding a cara, and a woman in a long dress was wielding a microphone.
There was no doubt that they were from the TV station.
"Master Qingchen, we’ve been waiting for over an hour, when can we start filming? We’re here on a task from the province."
"Sorry, we ran into a bit of a problem, filming might not be possible now."
"Not possible?!"
The director’s emotions flared, "We arranged for so many people to co over, waited for so long, and now you’re telling us filming can’t proceed?"
"We didn’t want this either, but sothing suddenly ca up. We can only apologize."
"You’re being absurd; if filming can’t happen, why not inform us earlier instead of making us wait all this ti."
The others behind the director were equally impatient, with even so grumbling turning to murmurs.
"I’m the one who made you wait, it’s nothing to do with others," Lin Yi said quietly.
"Filming isn’t possible now, don’t inconvenience yourself."
