"Are you suggesting that they also want to beco gods?" Shao Jianfeng said:

"You’ve been reading too many online novels."

"Don’t be so quick to dismiss . Who can say for sure what’s happening on the island?"

Zhao Yunhu said:

"Perhaps they use these snakes for experints, or maybe eat them, thus representing the ultimate power of monarchy."

After a pause, Zhao Yunhu continued:

"But I think, in that era, they wouldn’t have had so many snakes, and they could control them sohow, so even passing through this door wouldn’t get them bitten."

Listening to Zhao Yunhu, it seed to open a new line of thought for the others.

Perhaps it really was possible.

"I don’t think so."

Zhang Chaoyue said:

"As a totem of the tribe, even a monarch is unlikely to do such a thing."

"There’s no point in discussing this now."

Lin Yi looked around and didn’t find anything noteworthy.

"If there are no other discoveries, let’s prepare to continue and not waste ti here."

"Understood."

Past the Snake Cave.

The group continued walking forward for about half an hour.

The path grew increasingly narrow.

The n had to hunch, and the won had to lower their heads.

The narrow path stretched for hundreds of ters.

Soon, it widened again.

"Boss, there seems to be another room ahead."

The group sped up.

They entered the room where Zhao Yunhu was.

Compared to the previous warehouse, this area was much larger.

But it was filled with eerie things.

Many hook-like objects covered the ceiling.

Under the hooks were corpse after corpse.

But they were long since weathered, crumbling at a touch.

"These hooks should be used to bring up the bodies."

Lin Yi spoke softly:

"You could even say this is a warehouse, where the hanged people were their experintal materials."

No one spoke, each imagining the scenes in their minds.

A collective shiver ran through them.

"Let’s go; there’s nothing noteworthy here."

Gradually, the group backed out of the room.

They continued forward.

The path ahead grew wider and wider.

Not far along, they saw a vast circular clearing.

As large as a basketball court.

Standing over three ters tall.

A massive stone chamber erged, giving the feeling of having found an underground palace.

The moss-covered stone slabs bore the marks of ti.

Everyone took out their flashlights, illuminating other areas.

On the wall directly in front of them stood a massive stone table.

Over ten ters long, two ters wide, and about twenty centiters thick.

Quietly standing there.

Like an offering altar.

Having completed nurous missions, Lin Yi had a certain understanding of these matters.

The stone table was likely where the Mayans conducted their experints.

"There are also murals nearby."

Luo Qi shone a flashlight towards the wall, and others assisted her.

Upon scanning once around, the murals were found to be extrely grueso.

Devoid of humanity.

The murals recorded humans being captured and waiting to be slaughtered like livestock.

Used as test subjects, killed in various ways.

Lin Yi stared at one mural with his flashlight.

A person was pinned onto the stone table.

Surrounded by several oddly dressed individuals, they opened his belly.

Poured unknown liquids inside.

Moving the flashlight slowly.

Lin Yi discovered many similar murals, not just this one.

One person held a snake, putting it onto the test subject.

The rest began to worship.

Lin Yi’s eyes fixed on the person on the stone table.

Realizing he was very short.

Not like a normal person, seemingly a dwarf.

Seeing this, Lin Yi understood the purpose of those snakes.

To them, snakes were deities, possessing divine qualities.

They wanted to replicate the gods’ abilities this way.

"What a bunch of lunatics."

Suddenly.

Lin Yi’s skin prickled.

For a mont, he felt a chill.

Previously at Death Hill, he deduced that these natives might have been unable to survive on the island.

Thus escaping to land to continue developing and expanding their tribe.

But now, the truth might not be as he thought.

They might have co to the land because they couldn’t find test subjects on the island.

It was those who truly ca to the land!

Not ordinary natives!

Possibly the most insane ones!

This guess sent shivers through Lin Yi.

Surveying the murals chronicling the Mayans’ experintal processes.

Along with sacrificial images.

Yet offering no clues.

Not of much use.

After examining the murals, Lin Yi’s gaze shifted to the ground.

He saw a stone pot on the right side of the stone table.

Walking over to look, it was empty inside.

Yet pinkish residue lined the walls.

Besides, there were stone tools: hamrs.

Even a stone knife.

Sculpted incredibly sharply, given the craftsmanship of the ti.

In other unnoticed corners.

Saw those sa sand grains from the warehouse.

"Boss, there’s a hidden compartnt here."

Sui Qiang’s words captured everyone’s interest.

They gathered towards the center spot.

Thump—Thump—Thump—

Sui Qiang tapped the central stone slab, echoing a hollow sound.

It was obvious, the bottom was empty.

Likely a cellar.

"Move the stone slab and take a look. Be cautious, everyone stand guard."

Having learned from previous examples, Lin Yi feared sothing hidden might suddenly erge.

The others drew their guns, preparing for ergencies.

Sui Qiang and Zhao Yunhu tead up, prying open the central stone slab.

Revealing a small gap.

There was no stench or unusual objects jumping out.

Not until both removed the slab entirely was there any danger.

The cellar’s opening was about a ter wide, not small.

Lin Yi aid his flashlight downwards.

Discovering mountains of piled white bones.

But no living creatures.

"Feels like a mass grave, similar to what we saw at Death Hill." Shao Jianfeng remarked:

"Could there be a connection between the two places?"

"Tough to say for now." Lin Yi continued to inspect below:

"Stay up here; I’ll go down to look."

"I’ll go with you," Shao Jianfeng said.

"No need, you all stay above."

Lin Yi glanced around.

"This place might hide a secret room, search thoroughly."

"Understood."

After instructions.

Lin Yi jumped down.
