"No matter how busy I am, I have to see what it is. With sothing this big, how could I not go."
"Got it," Li Chuhan said softly.
After the two of them finished breakfast, Lin Yi took Li Chuhan to the cetery with the flowers he’d bought in advance.
At the sa ti, Lin Yi had also bought so other things to pay respects to this mother-in-law he had never t.
When they arrived, Lin Yi put everything he’d bought in front of the tombstone, then cleared away the grass around it and wiped the tombstone clean.
"Mom, don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her."
Originally, Li Chuhan had still been holding her emotions in check, but after hearing this, her tears started flowing uncontrollably.
She was lonely.
But also blessed.
After leaving the cetery, the two went to eat together.
Lin Yi dropped Li Chuhan off at the hospital before leaving, and then went to Lingyun Group.
"Director Lin, after a eting and so analysis, we figure in about three more days Kaijie Group’s stock will hit the bottom. That’ll be the best ti to close the net."
"You guys can handle this part yourselves."
"We’ve made a pretty big profit on this short this ti. We got a lot of orders from the Fruit Phone side, but didn’t ship according to the usual procedure, basically screwed them for a chunk of money. This quarter’s earnings report should hit a new record."
"From now on we can shift our focus to other areas. We’re still behind in a lot of cutting-edge equipnt. Try to make breakthroughs elsewhere—we can’t just keep staring at semiconductors alone."
"Understood, Director Lin."
After chatting with Qi Xianzhao about company matters for a while, Lin Yi went ho.
He spent another day at ho playing with Little Nuonuo, and then Lin Yi got ready to take his people back to Jing City.
As for the next phase of the system mission, he’d talk about it after the eting at the Central Guards Brigade. There was no need to rush it right this mont.
But before he left, Ji Qingyan called Lin Yi over to the side and handed him a black handbag. Lin Yi hefted it in his hand and felt it had so weight to it.
"What’s this?"
"I bought so clothes for the kid. Take them back with you."
Hearing her say it like that, Lin Yi understood what she ant.
Lin Yi kissed Ji Qingyan on the cheek, then picked up the bag and left.
At this ti, the people from Team One were already waiting for him outside the villa.
After Lin Yi ca out, he got in the car and headed for the airport with Team One.
Roughly two hours later, the plane landed at Jing City’s airport. Ning Che brought Team Two over to pick them up, and they went together to the Central Guards Brigade.
On the way, the main topic was still this short-selling operation.
Not only had Lin Yi made money, Ning Che and the other mbers of Team One had also earned quite a bit—basically starting in the hundreds of millions.
Leisurely, Ning Che drove them into the Central Guards Brigade.
When they reached the main compound of the Central Guards Brigade, the rookies were in the middle of training, and from the look of it they weren’t doing half bad.
But when they saw Lin Yi, a lot of people stopped what they were doing and turned their eyes to Team One, whispering among themselves.
Among the rookies of the Central Guards Brigade, Team One held an extrely important place.
They all dread of joining Team One, but right now they didn’t have that chance.
The group entered the administration building. The others from Team One went to Lin Yi’s office, while Lin Yi and Ning Che went to see Liu Hong.
Qiu Yuluo and Tao Cheng were there as well, looking like they were getting ready for a eting.
"The main reason I called you back is still the matter of the island," Liu Hong said:
"Right now, all the major organizations are pushing toward the unmanned areas and are neglecting the search of the terminal zones. So your mission is to check those areas and see if anything’s been overlooked. You can’t miss any important information."
The four of them didn’t speak, waiting for Liu Hong to go on.
"Split the four of you into pairs, two to a team. You’ll go to the island in sequence and recon the situation."
"I’ve already brought my people over. We and Team Three will go first," Lin Yi said.
"That works too."
Then Liu Hong stood up, took out the map of the island, and marked the key areas on it.
"Based on the intel sent back by Yanlong Team, these places require special attention. You’ll need to divide them up."
"No problem," Lin Yi said. "When do we head out?"
"You decide that yourselves. Once you’re ready, you can depart."
"Alright."
The eting lasted just over half an hour before it ended. Lin Yi discussed things with Ning Che.
They decided to set out three days later, since he also had so personal matters to deal with.
Lin Yi went back to his office and relayed the contents of the eting to Team One. No one had any objections, and they all began preparing for the operation three days later.
After the eting, Lin Yi and Ning Che went to the Research Institute to find Chen Zhiyi.
They waited for about twenty minutes before Chen Zhiyi finished her work and ca back to the office.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
Chen Zhiyi’s hair was a bit ssy, and with a bare face she sat down next to the two of them.
"Don’t just say ’sorry’ with your mouth. Show so concrete action so we can see your sincerity."
Chen Zhiyi smiled. "You guys raked it in on this short. Team Leader Lin, if you’re still asking to treat, then you’re the one in the wrong."
"We were shouting slogans and selling at a loss. Didn’t actually make that much."
"You’re a top figure in the business world now. If the Chen family needs help with anything in the future, you’ll have to lend a hand."
"As long as it’s sothing I can do, there’s definitely no problem. Let’s talk business first."
Lin Yi pulled the topic back. "How’s the decoding of the Sheepskin Scroll going? Any new content?"
"It’s not fully cracked yet, but we can roughly infer so things," Chen Zhiyi said:
"Those other two clans were driven out by Nakxi, right? The content after that is more or less the sa, but there’s one key piece of information. It clearly states that their own clan must not go back in the short term, that they should recuperate on the mainland, and once their strength grows, they’ll fight their way back to the island."
Hearing this, Lin Yi’s expression grew serious.
"If that’s the case, then our previous speculation is basically confird. That Dwarf Clan might have stayed on the mainland all along and continued to multiply."
"Yes, that’s a very important point. We’ve considered the possibility that this clan may have continued to reproduce up to the present day and hasn’t vanished in the long river of history."
"If they’re still alive, then the so‑called Giant Clan should exist as well."
"That speculation is very much on point. But there’s no way to deduce where they actually live. That’s the really tricky part."
"Given their capabilities, it’s very likely they’ve accumulated massive wealth and control key resources, and are secretly controlling this world from behind the scenes. For us, that’s extrely bad news, and it may be very hard to deal with them."
Chen Zhiyi nodded. "Right. The formidable enemies we’ve encountered so far might only be a small part. The real strong enemies haven’t surfaced yet."
