After wandering through the markets and districts of Nocturne for nearly two hours, Sylvia finally felt satisfied. Her slow but steady steps led them through streets that grew increasingly lively, where the residents were beginning to return to their activities after the initial wave of reverence had subsided. The little treant on her shoulder remained full of energy, its leaves swaying excitedly every ti it spotted a new stall, especially those selling glowing undead fruits and sweet potions. Sofia walked to her right, occasionally pointing out new buildings or rchants she used to know, her voice filled with pride. Stacia followed quietly, her eyes scanning the surroundings like an ever-vigilant sorceress, while Alicia skipped ahead, laughing every ti she saw mixed-race children running around with strange toys made from a blend of technology and magic.

"Enough," Sylvia finally said, her voice cold but carrying a faint tone of satisfaction. She turned to face Zark, who had been following at a respectful distance. "Take us to the castle."

Zark bowed deeply. "With pleasure, my Queen." He signaled to the zombie guards around them, then led the small group toward the center of the city. The crowd parted automatically, so kneeling again as Sylvia passed, others simply bowing their heads with small, hopeful smiles born from years of waiting.

The journey to the castle was short. The black castle towered at the heart of the city like the beating core of Nocturne; its towers now stood even taller, the obsidian walls glimred faintly under the newly arrived sunset light, and the black rose banners fluttered proudly at the peaks. The castle gates swung wide open as they approached, the undead guards kneeling in unison without command.

Zark escorted them all the way to the main hall, a vast chamber with a soaring ceiling, perfectly polished black marble floors, and walls adorned with rose and chain carvings that were now far more intricate than Sylvia rembered. Black candles ignited on their own as they entered, casting warm light that contrasted beautifully with the castle’s darkness.

"My Queen, if there is anything you require..." Zark said, his voice hoarse yet filled with respect.

Sylvia nodded. "You’ve done enough, Zark. Return to your duties. This city still needs you."

Zark bowed once more, then turned and left with firm steps, leaving the small group in the hall. Celes and Aurellia, who had been following at the rear, exchanged glances. Celes gave a small smile. "We won’t be staying here. Our castle outside the city is comfortable enough. We’re used to living there and it feels... more private."

Aurellia nodded in agreent. "We’ll visit tomorrow morning. Rest well, Sylvia. The world awaits you."

Sylvia simply nodded quietly. Celes and Aurellia turned and left through a side gate, heading toward their own black castle standing on the city’s outskirts like a second guardian.

Now only Sylvia, Sofia, Stacia, Alicia, and the little treant remained.

Sylvia looked at them for a mont, then said, "Rest. We have plenty of ti tomorrow."

Stacia and Alicia exchanged glances, then nodded. "We’ll head to our rooms first," Stacia said softly. "Thank you for bringing us ho."

Alicia suddenly hugged Sylvia, a rare spontaneous gesture then skipped off toward the guest corridor, followed by Stacia who walked more calmly. The little treant leapt from Sylvia’s shoulder and dashed toward the castle garden visible through the hall window. It imdiately plunged its tiny roots into the fertile black soil, its leaves spreading contentedly, and within seconds it seed to fall fast asleep, its body rging with the earth like a child finally returning ho after a long adventure.

Only Sylvia and Sofia remained.

Sofia gazed at Sylvia with gentle eyes, her hand touching the arm of the Queen of Death. "Finally... we’re ho."

Sylvia didn’t reply with words. She simply nodded softly, then took Sofia’s hand and led her down the private corridor toward the master bedroom that had once been theirs alone. The door opened by itself as they approached, as though the castle recognized its queen’s return.

Once the door closed behind them, the sounds of the outside world faded. The grand hall fell silent, left only with the whisper of night wind slipping through window cracks.

Inside the bedroom, black candles glowed softly, creating gentle shadows on the obsidian walls. Sylvia drew Sofia close, her cold hand touching the girl’s cheek with a tenderness she rarely showed others. Sofia smiled, eyes glistening, then leaned in.

Soft, teasing sounds began to erge gentle whispers, Sofia’s rare quiet laughter, quickening breaths, faint moans blending relief with desire long held back through years apart. What happened in that room remained their secret, a private mont where absolute death t warm light, where Sylvia, for an instant, was no longer the queen who ruled the world, but simply Sylvia who had longed for Sofia.

Outside, the castle remained still. The undead guards stood rigid in the corridors, none daring to approach. Zark returned to his duties, inspecting the now larger and more complex city defenses. Celes and Aurellia had already reached their own castle on the outskirts, sitting on the balcony gazing at Nocturne sparkling in the new night.

The little treant slept soundly in the castle garden, roots deeply embedded, leaves swaying gently as though dreaming of today’s adventure.

Stacia and Alicia were already in their respective rooms, Stacia sitting on the edge of her bed, gazing out the window with a small smile, feeling peace after years of war and travel. Alicia had thrown herself onto the bed, giggling softly while hugging a pillow. "Finally... ho."

The night passed quietly over Nocturne.

The city that was once shrouded in darkness now breathed with hope.

And inside the master bedroom of the castle, the secret between Sylvia and Sofia remained guarded in a private mont amid a world newly born.

The Queen of Death had returned.

And her ho welcod her with love.

...

The next morning, the new sunlight from the fused world slipped gently through the cracks of the master bedroom windows. The light was no longer pure golden yellow as before, now tinged with faint blue from the remnants of the fusion aurora, making the room feel as though it existed between two realms.

Sylvia woke first.

She opened her pitch-black eyes silently. Her body never truly tired, even after the long, intimate hours she and Sofia had spent together the previous night ti they rarely had during years of separation. Thin Death Flas pulsed faintly across her skin, calm like steady breathing. She glanced to the side.

Sofia still slept deeply beside her. Golden hair spilled across the black pillow, her face peaceful with the small smile left from the night before. Her eight wings, four perfect pairs, beautiful white-gold with faintly glowing tips were folded neatly behind her, covering part of her body like a living blanket. Her breathing was even, soft, like a child finally ho after a long journey.

Sylvia gave a tiny smile extrely rare, almost imperceptible, ant only for Sofia. She reached out with her cold hand, gently touching the girl’s cheek, then pulled the black blanket up to cover Sofia’s shoulders more snugly.

Without a sound, Sylvia rose from the bed. Her perfect naked form was briefly wrapped in thin Death Fla like a second skin before she took the long black gown hanging beside the bed, a simple yet elegant dress made of dark silk that never wrinkled. She dressed with swift, graceful movents, her long black hair flowing like midnight water as she moved.

She glanced at Sofia once more, making sure the girl still slept soundly, then left the room silently. The door closed softly behind her.

The castle corridors were still quiet. Undead guards knelt as she passed, but none dared disturb her. Sylvia headed straight to her study in a private room on the upper floor that she had rarely used before, preferring battle over paperwork.

The mont the study door opened, the scent of old paper and ink greeted her.

The large obsidian desk in the center was covered in neat stacks of docunts. Reports, maps, trade records, lists of new mixed-race citizens from the world fusion, weapon inventories, security reports from surrounding towns everything ticulously organized by Zark. There were also special reports: the number of mixed-race births in recent years, a 300% increase in corpse-field production, and notes about sporadic remnant portals still appearing on the city outskirts.

Sylvia let out a soft sigh not from exhaustion, but from the sheer headache of seeing the mountain of paperwork. "Zark... you really worked hard," she muttered to herself. She sat in the tall chair made of bone and iron, then began reading one by one.

Only after about two hours did the study door open quietly.

Sofia entered, her hair still slightly ssy, wearing a simple white robe that stood out against the castle’s darkness. Her eight wings were neatly folded, but their soft light illuminated the room. She smiled gently when she saw Sylvia already imrsed in the docunts.

"Good morning, my Queen," she said softly, approaching and placing a hand on Sylvia’s shoulder. "You didn’t wait for ?"

Sylvia lifted her head, her pitch-black eyes looking at Sofia with tenderness reserved only for her. "You were sleeping so peacefully. I didn’t want to disturb you."

Sofia laughed quietly, then sat in the chair beside Sylvia. "I’m used to waking up early to help. Let’s do this together."

The two of them began reading and signing reports. Sylvia handled security and defense strategies, Sofia took care of trade and food distribution from the corpse fields. They worked without pause, quietly exchanging opinions, their hands occasionally brushing across the desk.

Ti passed unnoticed.

They skipped breakfast not from hunger, but because their bodies no longer required it much. Sylvia was an existence of absolute death; she never felt hunger or thirst. Sofia, with her eight wings marking her as a high angel, had also transcended ordinary human needs. They simply drank crystal water from the decanter on the desk while continuing their work.

After several hours, Sylvia ca across a special report from Zark ti records.

According to Zark’s ticulous calculations using magical sundials and portal logs, Sylvia had been in the other world for a full 11 years. Sofia, who followed later, for 10 years.

Sylvia frowned. "Eleven years...?"

Sofia nodded slowly, her eyes sad but understanding. "For , it only felt like about one year. Ti in that world... flows differently."

Sylvia fell silent for a mont, staring at the stacks of reports. "For it also felt like only two or three years. But here... they waited all that ti."

Sofia touched Sylvia’s hand. "They never gave up. That’s why Nocturne still stands."

Sylvia nodded quietly. "We have to make them feel that waiting was worth it."

They returned to work, but this ti more calmly, more closely. Their hands intertwined on the desk, fingers fitting perfectly together.

Outside the castle, Nocturne continued to breathe.

In the garden, the little treant still slept deeply, roots firmly anchored.

In their respective rooms, Stacia and Alicia continued to rest, their bodies recovering from the long journey and at the outer castle, Celes and Aurellia sat on the balcony, gazing at Nocturne from afar, awaiting their queen’s call.
