This female diplomat is not entirely heartless; the words she spoke were likely not rely for comfort.

"Our departnt has received orders from the higher-ups; we will do everything possible to rescue Ms. Xia Wanqing. Director Luo, you needn’t worry too much."

Luo Peng’s furrowed brow relaxed slightly, and he couldn’t help but breathe a little easier.

"Thank you."

Zhong Xiaoai shook her head.

"Director Luo, you don’t need to thank ."

After speaking, the female diplomat stood up and said, "Director Luo must be tired; I’ll find soone to arrange a room for you so you can rest well."

She walked out, her figure composed and decisive.

Luo Peng picked up the cup and took a sip.

Xia Wanqing was not the first to go missing; it’s not that these countries are unaware of the information about those victims.

Yet, thus far, there have been no rescued individuals.

What’s the reason?

So movies are best watched without taking them seriously.

As adults, the first thing to understand is that no one is the center of the world.

Unlike being at ho, doing anything on soone else’s turf requires effort and cos with a price.

Luo Peng slowly leaned back in the chair.

He suddenly understood why his old man was still working so hard, puffing and panting.

Is it rely an addiction to earning money?

Just like kidnapping.

The most likely outco for a penniless hostage is being killed, while a hostage with money and power has at least a glimr of hope.

It’s like the saying goes.

One can’t bla society for their bad luck.

In a foreign land, when trouble arises, the first consideration must be whether one is worth saving.

————

In the dark and confined space, there was no distinction between day and night, let alone the concept of ti.

When Xia Wanqing awoke, she found herself inside an iron cage, the bars thicker than her arms, the cage secured with chains, with only a few hanging incandescent lamps serving as light sources.

She rembered that she was clearly lying in her hotel room sleeping, so why did she wake up here?

A dream?

A dream couldn’t be this real; she could even clearly feel her body’s weakness and exhaustion.

Anyone faced with such a sudden change, waking up as a caged bird, would likely have their mind thrown into chaos, and even soone as systematically trained as Oiran couldn’t escape the norm.

After all, most of Professor Qinyuan’s teachings were about social skills, and did not include crisis simulations.

Xia Wanqing quickly lowered her head to check her attire.

Her clothes were intact.

Consider it a misfortune within fortune.

Xia Wanqing’s mind eased slightly, and she began to observe her unfamiliar surroundings anew.

A layer of carpet covered the floor to prevent sleeping directly on it, indicating that the perpetrator was at least sowhat courteous.

Before long.

Xia Wanqing discovered that she wasn’t the only one in this space, nor was hers the only iron cage.

Another woman was there too, just like her, confined in an impenetrable cage.

The woman knelt and sat, unmoving, uncertain how long she had been in that position, appearing as if she had lost her soul.

"Sawadee ka."

Compared to typical won, Xia Wanqing was a bit stronger, maintaining composure amid the bizarre experience, at least outwardly sustaining a comndable calm.

Despite the uncertainty about the location, whether still in Ba Ba Ti, whether in a room or basent, Xia Wanqing believed she must still be within the borders of Xiang Country.

Her physical discomfort was likely due to being drugged; otherwise, she couldn’t have been transferred here without any awareness, and considering her hunger, her sleep—or more accurately, her coma—hadn’t lasted very long.

Hence, she chose to greet in Thai.

Whether because her voice was too low or for so other reason, the woman ignored her, remaining sideways and immobile.

"Sawadee ka."

Xia Wanqing tried to raise her weak voice and called out again.

Still no response.

The woman was clearly kneeling there, yet seed to be non-existent.

Apart from her, the whole space, at least within the range Xia Wanqing could perceive, had no third person.

"Hello, can you hear !"

Xia Wanqing stood up and moved to the cage’s edge, shakily shaking the bars.

Persistence finally paid off.

The woman in the sa predicant finally reacted; she wasn’t a lifelike statue; she slowly turned her head to look this way.

"Hello, what country are you from, do you understand what I’m saying?"

Unsure of the woman’s identity, Xia Wanqing repeated her question in English.

"Quiet."

Xia Wanqing’s gaze flickered.

The woman seed to be Korean since she used Korean.

Having been with Jin Zhuxuan for so long, Xia Wanqing might not be fluent in Korean but had achieved a certain level of understanding.

"Are you here for a tour of Xiang Country too?"

She attempted communication in Korean.

"Are you Korean too?"

The woman replied, likely because of her choice of language.

"No, I’m a person of Shenzhou. Do you know where this place is?"

Xia Wanqing went straight to the critical question.

"I’ve been here just like you since I woke up, haven’t been out."

The Korean woman replied numbly, apparently not naturally calm but having already gone through a breakdown.

"Do you speak English?"

Jin Zhuxuan’s Korean was not exactly proficient; the woman didn’t speak further and turned away.

Xia Wanqing grabbed the cage bars and asked, "How long have you been here?"

"Can you tell ti here?"

Fluent English.

To speak a foreign language this well, it at least signifies a good level of education, and from her vaguely visible features, the Korean woman had an attractive appearance.

"Then do you rember how you ca here?"

Xia Wanqing asked step by step, with great structure and logic, but unfortunately, despite arriving before her, the woman knew nothing and couldn’t provide any useful information.

"Even if I knew everything, do you think you could escape this cage? So save your strength."

Xia Wanqing was left speechless.

"It’s likely for money; your family should be able to pay the ransom, right?"

Upon hearing this, Xia Wanqing imdiately realized the woman must co from a good family; her tone made this apparent.

"Why are you so sure it’s for money?"

She steadied her emotions, attempting to extract any useful information, even if she wasn’t sure what good it would do.

She certainly couldn’t be like the woman and resign to fate?

"What else? Besides money, what could it be?"

"There are many reasons. Xiang Country has many with twisted minds; you should have heard before traveling."

As expected.

The woman beca agitated, a ripple in her stagnant emotions.

"Impossible! My family has money; whatever amount they want, my family can give!"

Seeing the suddenly frantic Korean woman, Xia Wanqing, who had kept the conversation going, fell silent.

It seed the woman indeed didn’t know anything.

Suddenly.

It was like a door opened.

A harsh light flooded in.

Xia Wanqing instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes.

In the brightness, a tall man wearing a mask entered, holding two al boxes.

"My family has money; whatever you want, I can arrange for my family to transfer the funds, let leave!"

When the man squatted by the cage to push the al boxes in, the Korean woman spoke anxiously.

The man, whose face was obscured, remained silent, got up, and walked to Xia Wanqing’s cage, placing the other al box down.

Xia Wanqing stared at him, "What do you want?"

"Don’t worry; you won’t be hard, so don’t do anything foolish."

International English.

As he spoke, the masked man raised his hand and pointed overhead.

Xia Wanqing looked up and discovered there were surveillance caras hanging above, not just one.

"Rember, this is a friendly reminder; if violated, the consequences, you wouldn’t want to experience."

Having said that, the man pushed up from his knees and got up.

"What do you want?"

The man did not respond to Xia Wanqing’s question; after delivering the al, he turned around to leave, and the light engulfed his figure, darkness once again dominating the space.

Xia Wanqing, holding the cage, slowly slid down to sit, with the al box placed just within reach.

According to what that man said earlier, it didn’t seem to be about money.

And if it’s not about money.

Xia Wanqing’s mood didn’t relax; instead, it sank bit by bit.

Every action inevitably has a motive.

If it’s not for money, it can only indicate one issue.

The ultimate goal would be even more terrifying.
