Capítulo 1999: Chapter 1299: Langlang Mountain (2)

Beyond the stars, seven or eight.

Jiang Chen had a duck head in one hand and a beer in the other, feeling at ease.

Even though no fellow enthusiasts had co to camp at the mountaintop yet, as half a disciple of Daoist Duanmu, am I supposed to fear that so delicate noble lady would plot against ?

It’s simply laughable.

Shi Qianxi didn’t give him any trouble either, shaking her beer can in silence.

“What are you thinking about?”

Jiang Chen broke the silence first.

“Not thinking about anything.”

“Are you thinking that all the friends who used to co here with you have settled down and entered the next phase of life, while you’re still alone?” Jiang Chen teased with a smile.

Shi Qianxi didn’t mind and casually said, “I’m alone, then what are you? A ghost?”

Jiang Chen was at a loss for words.

Shi Qianxi raised her beer can leisurely, “That’s life, so get off, and others get on.”

Jiang Chen chuckled, drank as well, and said nothing.

“I’ve promised Fei Yi, you’ll be the groomsman by then.”

“Cough…”

Jiang Chen was caught off guard and almost choked.

“Groomsman?”

“Is there a problem?”

“You should at least discuss it with first, right?”

Jiang Chen imdiately said.

“Is it such a troubleso thing? Fei Yi has helped a lot, and it’s not an unreasonable request for him to ask you to be a groomsman when he gets married, right?”

Jiang Chen gave a helpless smile.

“I didn’t say it’s unreasonable, but at least let be ntally prepared, right?”

“What’s there to prepare.” Shi Qianxi said offhandedly, “It’s not like you’re being asked to be the groom.”

Jiang Chen had no words.

Realistically, he and Fei Yi weren’t that close, definitely not to the degree of being a groomsman, considering Fei Yi’s connections, there’s no need to make do with him.

“Was it your idea?”

Jiang Chen looked suspiciously.

Shi Qianxi avoided answering, only holding on to one argunt, “One must be grateful and repay favors.”

There’s no argunt against gratitude, but there are many ways to repay.

—For example, you could simply give a big red envelope.

“What about you then? How will you repay him?”

Jiang Chen questioned.

“I’ll be the bridesmaid.” Shi Qianxi said matter-of-factly, squinting slightly because of her smile.

Jiang Chen was montarily speechless.

“The Yi Family and Fang Family are both prestigious and distinguished families, so it won’t disgrace your status.” Shi Qianxi comforted.

Jiang Chen grumbled, “Stop slandering .”

“Then that’s settled. Enjoy the celebration and consider it a learning experience for the future.” Shi Qianxi bent her knees, legs raised, and the once singular Witch seed to return montarily.

“You want to learn, you learn by yourself, don’t drag along.” Jiang Chen complained.

Shi Qianxi glanced at him, “What? You don’t plan to get married in the future?”

Jiang Chen remained silent, looked out of the mountain, and chose to drink.

“Sigh~”

“Why are you sighing?”

Jiang Chen turned his head, amused but helpless.

“I thought about it, it’s indeed quite troubling.”

“Troubling?”

Jiang Chen was confused.

Shi Qianxi examined him, eyes filled with genuine… sympathy.

“Your problem isn’t choosing a bridesmaid, it’s choosing a bride.”

A taphorical bullet to the heart!

Jiang Chen’s expression froze, like he’d taken a shot to the head, his lips moved, but no words ca out.

Shi Qianxi looked away, her elbow resting on her raised knees, gazing at the distant city.

“Give the phone.”

Jiang Chen put another empty can into the trash bag.

“Are you really so busy you can’t wait a whole evening?”

“I’m going ho.” Jiang Chen said, like a child whose ga ti was up.

“You’re not going back.” Shi Qianxi said lightly.

Jiang Chen frowned, “What do you an?”

“Do you plan to walk back?”

“Isn’t that my car?”

Jiang Chen looked at the Morning Light parked nearby.

Shi Qianxi ignored it, not even glancing aside, still deeply contemplating, strategically saying, “You drank, and if you drive, I’ll call the police imdiately.”

“…”

Jiang Chen was stunned, and then his forehead started to sweat.

There’s no room for familiarity when it cos to drunk driving; it’s a matter of principle, for others’ safety and his own.

Only drinking buddies would condone such things, but a lady like Shi, threatening to call the police, truly cares sincerely.

Comrade Jiang Chen is surely not soone who can’t distinguish right from wrong, and he’s always been strict with himself when it cos to traffic rules.

So he wouldn’t bla her; the fault was only his own negligence.

“Nowadays electric cars have an automatic driving function, right?”

Hey.

A quick thinker indeed.

“They do, but the relevant laws and regulations haven’t been enacted yet, so fully autonomous driving can’t be used, and on mountain roads like these, even if there was autonomous driving, I suggest you hold the steering wheel anyway; systems may fail, but life can’t be redone.”

That’s truly heartfelt.

Now we’re stuck.

Feels a bit awkward.

Both had drunk, ca here fine, but can’t go back.

“Call soone to pick us up.”

Jiang Chen urged.

“My phone’s dead.”

“…”

The Morning Light is an electric car, right?

What’s the basic structure of an electric car?

Worried about running out of power?

Jiang Chen couldn’t be bothered arguing, demanding again, “Give my phone, it takes ti to get here.”

He expected her to give him a hard ti, but surprisingly, Shi Qianxi was rather straightforward, casually pulling out her phone from under her and tossing it to him.

Jiang Chen caught it, still warm from body heat.

Shi Qianxi continued drinking as if nothing happened.

Holding the phone he got so easily, Jiang Chen felt sothing was off but couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was.
