"Sis, why did you co? I could have just gone."
"No worries, I just finished exercising, and needed a walk. Instead of wandering around the hotel room, I'd rather accompany you. Consider it a stroll."
"This late at night, in the dark, we should have brought a couple more people."
"It's just fetching a phone, not a big deal. The park is closed at this hour, what's there to be afraid of."
In the vast, empty film city, two won were walking toward the Guiyun Manor, their shadows stretched by the dim street lamps. The dead silence made their footsteps resound loudly.
The taller, ordinary-looking woman shivered, looking around cautiously, as if fearing so ghostly figure might erge from the shadows.
Contrarily, the shorter, slender woman exhibited no fear, her steps steady and breaths calm.
The arrivals were Zhao Xiaodao and her assistant.
The film crew had been shooting until past eight in the evening, adding a night scene which was wrapped up by nearly nine to complete the day's schedule.
Zhao Xiaodao was in the last scene, and she had casually placed her phone beside a chair in the room, causing her assistant to overlook it while packing.
After the last scene, Zhao Xiaodao returned to the hotel with her assistant, had so nutrition als, went to the gym, and only upon wanting to check her phone post-workout did she realize it was missing.
After confirming with her assistant, Zhao Xiaodao rembered the phone's location, and with the intention of a stroll, decided to co along.
"This place is so vast, what's there to be afraid of? I used to walk alone at night in the countryside when I was little." Zhao Xiaodao remarked indifferently.
"Sis, you're sothing," her assistant praised with a thumbs up, "but I'm scared of the dark!"
Despite the streetlights, the assistant turned on her phone's flashlight to illuminate the way.
Quickly, they arrived at Guiyun Manor, entered the courtyard where scenes were shot at night, went to the side chamber in the inner courtyard, and found Zhao Xiaodao's phone on the second floor.
"Found it!" The assistant patted her chest, turned off her phone's light, and finally relaxed.
Although Zhao Xiaodao's phone contained nothing compromising, if soone had picked it up and cracked it, she as an assistant would be held responsible.
"Alright, let's head back."
Zhao Xiaodao showed no trace of relief or concern.
The crew had shot well past the park's closing ti, and with tourists long gone, as long as she retrieved it before the park's reopening the next morning, the phone wouldn't get stolen.
Picking up the phone and noticing only a few new ssages, Zhao Xiaodao didn't rush to check them, intending to do so once back at the hotel.
However, just then, the "clang clang clang" sound of tal clashing ca from outside.
"What…"
"Shh!"
Zhao Xiaodao quickly grabbed her assistant and covered her mouth.
No matter who the other party was, how many there were, or what their intentions might be, in the dead of night, with only two weak won on their side, if the other party hadn't discovered them, it was best to remain quiet.
"Clang clang clang!"
The clattering of weapons was ceaseless, accompanied by the conversation between two people.
"Since you lifted my veil and saw my face, you have two choices: marry , or die by my sword!"
"Hmph! Dream on, I've wandered through countless blooms without getting entangled. There's already two gentle, kind wives waiting for at ho, why would I bring back a tigress like you?"
The woman's temper flared at the man's flirtatious remark, "Am I a tigress?"
"Even if you're not a tigress, you're definitely a vinegar jar."
"Hmph! Watch my sword!"
"Oh dear, you're serious?"
"Of course not!"
"Clang clang clang clang——" A series of weapon clashes ensued.
Zhao Xiaodao and her assistant exchanged glances, both suppressing laughter. They wondered if so insiders were indulging their acting addiction, sneaking into the deserted film city with their boyfriend or girlfriend to play late at night.
The assistant, holding back laughter, quietly pushed open the window a crack.
And then…
They saw two figures leaping like lightning across the courtyard roofs, their swords dancing like belts, freely waving.
"Clang clang clang——"
The man in white, his sword danced almost into a shimr of silver, before he leapt, nearly turning into a blur, from one roof to another.
The woman in a purple dress stood like a willow swaying in the breeze, her sword thrust forward swiftly like lightning, following her fra airborne. Her clothes billowed like a fairy hovering in mid-air.
"Will you marry ?"
"Only if you agree to serve together with my other two wives."
"Dream on!"
"Then I won't marry!"
"You! You abandoned !"
"No, this is called true affection of a gentleman!"
"You rascal, watch my sword!"
The two fought from the rooftops to the ground, filling the Guiyun Manor's backyard with cold gleams.
The sword Qi triggered the leaves on two evergreen trees to fall, many leaves were swept by the sword Qi, splitting in halves.
The moonlight washed over the scene, silver gleams illuminated the ground, leaves falling, creating a picturesque scene.
After a while, the two took their fight from the ground back to the rooftops, leaving Zhao Xiaodao and her assistant inside stunned and their worldviews shattered.
The next mont, a gust of wind blew through, and the window that had been ajar was suddenly blown wide open, revealing two small heads below the window sill.
"Hmm?"
The man and woman imdiately stopped, turning their heads in unison.
Zhao Xiaodao: (*°ω°*)!!!
...
In the modern city, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan relaxed considerably, dressing in ancient costus and waiting for the film city to close completely, even hacking into the park's surveillance network, freezing the video for three hours before sneaking in.
After sensing around and confirming no one in the park, Lu Zheng let his guard down, focusing solely on playing and performing with Lin Wan.
Nonetheless, even then he had basic senses, aware of any movents within several feet.
Coincidentally, during their fight towards the Journey to the West Park, Zhao Xiaodao and her assistant entered the film city, went to the side chamber's second floor, with the window closed and phone lights off. Though not entirely silent, they were masked by the roaring sea winds.
Thus, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan were engrossed in their play, oblivious for a while given the environnt of wind and rustling trees, failing to notice them.
However, if the window opened and they still discovered nothing, there'd be no need for further cultivation.
"Zhao Xiaodao?"
"What's she doing here?"
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan exchanged puzzled glances, Lin Wan montarily stunned, yet Lu Zheng swiftly enveloped his face with True Qi, creating a hazy look that obscured ordinary people's perception.
Lin Wan was indifferent, wearing a purple veil covering her face with only her eyes exposed, coupled with the night canopy, Zhao Xiaodao and her assistant surely lacked x-ray vision.
"You really didn't notice?" Lin Wan questioned.
Lu Zheng blinked, "Careless, shouldn't have happened, when did she arrive?"
"What do we do now?"
Lu Zheng's eyes flickered, though before speaking, Zhao Xiaodao took a step back, suddenly knelt down, bowing reverently.
"Please, lady hero, take as your disciple!"
