Chapter 34: Chapter 34: The Treasure Pearl!

“Yes.”

Chen Yuan gave a slight nod and moved a little closer to Tie Xuan.

Pinching a bead with a black luster between his thumb and forefinger, Tie Xuan held it up to Chen Yuan’s eyes to give him a clearer look, while his interest in Chen Yuan grew.

This kid really is talented!

Lying on the ground, the second son of the Huang Family watched Chen Yuan with a serious expression, a hint of scorn flashing in his eyes, seemingly certain that a re constable couldn’t possibly recognize the object.

Off to the side, Zhao Yang felt a twinge of jealousy. He had noticed Tie Xuan’s growing interest in Chen Yuan, interest that could be transford into favor and, possibly, patronage… but all these were supposed to be his.

...

He had bet on Tie Xuan long ago, never expecting this unfamiliar constable to steal the lilight.

The title of Tie Xuan’s top lackey was his to claim!

“Can you recognize this object?” Tie Xuan asked, noting Chen Yuan’s weighty expression, which clearly indicated he was onto sothing.

Chen Yuan furrowed his brow and paced a few steps in front of Tie Xuan, pointing at the second son of the Huang Family lying on the ground:

“This object seems to be related to Marrow Cleansing. I’ve read about it in an ancient text, but when I try to recall it, it’s a bit fuzzy.”

The eyes of the second son of the Huang Family on the ground contracted sharply with shock. Could the constable actually pinpoint the origin of the item? Were there really records of it in Ping’an County?

No, impossible!

Tie Xuan’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of surprise passing through them.

Marrow Cleansing!

Spiritual objects of Marrow Cleansing!

Such treasures were not for soone of his station to possess on regular days.

He beca sowhat excited and turned his gaze to the second son of the Huang Family, asking in a forceful tone:

“Is what he says true? Could this thing really…?”

“I rember now!”

The voice of Chen Yuan suddenly rang out.

“What?”

Tie Xuan turned his head to look.

“Pfft!”

A flash of white light, the Sword Drawing Skill exploded in an instant. Chen Yuan’s long sword plunged entirely into Tie Xuan’s chest, and blood gushed forth. A flash of astonishnt passed through Tie Xuan’s eyes.

The scene ca to an abrupt halt.

Imdiately following, Zhao Yang shouted in horror:

“Chen… Chen Yuan, what are you doing?”

Chen Yuan didn’t reply. His Qi circulated around his body, he withdrew the long sword and with a reverse grip, stabbed it into Zhao Yang’s chest.

In an instant, the situation in the field underwent a dramatic change.

Zhao Yang took a fatal hit from the blade, the imnse pain piercing into his marrow. Then Chen Yuan slamd a palm onto the hilt of the sword, the massive power flinging Zhao Yang away.

The long sword pierced through his chest and pinned him against a pillar.

Tie Xuan clutched at his chest, but the blood flowed like a breach in a dam, unstoppable. His body’s Qi felt as if it had been drained in an instant. He tried to lift his arms, clench his fists, but he just couldn’t muster the strength.

The Marrow Cleansing Spirit Pearl, loosened by his weakening grip, dropped to the ground. Chen Yuan bent down to pick it up, wiped it on his sleeve, and tucked it into his bosom, then looked at Tie Xuan.

“Chen… Chen Yuan… why… why did you…?” Tie Xuan’s gaze was fixed on Chen Yuan, as if trying to kill him with his stare.

It’s like spending all day hunting geese, only to have the geese peck out your eyes!

“Why? Heh…” A faint smile curled on Chen Yuan’s lips as he walked up close to Tie Xuan’s ear and said in a hoarse whisper,

“Of course, for the Marrow Cleansing Spirit Pearl.”

Wide-eyed, Tie Xuan pointed at Chen Yuan and started to speak:

“Yuan…”

“I never expected that your true identity… You really hid it well,” Tie Xuan gasped for air, his eyes cold.

Upon witnessing this turn of events, the second son of the Huang Family first startled, then burst out laughing. His laughter was piercing in Tie Xuan’s ears.

“Shut up!”

Chen Yuan shot a cold glance at the second son of the Huang Family.

Tie Xuan, as if sensing sothing, narrowed his eyes and asked in a low voice:

“From the beginning, was it that black bead you were after?”

Chen Yuan nodded and smiled without speaking.

That had indeed been his goal from the start. When he said he wanted sothing from the Huang Family, he was referring to this very object. It seed that Tie Xuan had no intention of keeping his promise and handing it over, so Chen Yuan had to claim it for himself.

To the virtuous belong the treasures, and he was the virtuous one!

“Killing , how do you plan to escape?” Tie Xuan’s gaze was locked on Chen Yuan.

“Brother Tie must not speak ill of . It’s the hidden mbers of the No-Life Sect who are killing you, not . I, a re governnt official, am just lucky to have escaped with my life.”

“You truly are shaless.”

“This world is so dangerous, how else can one survive better than by being a little shaless?”

Chen Yuan’s face was unperturbed, without any sense of wrongdoing.

There was no profound relationship between him and Tie Xuan, no betrayal to speak of. From the beginning, it was all about the exchange of benefits, and he had no guilty conscience about it.

“Heh… that’s also true. I’ve fallen this ti. You even sared poison on the blade, very good… very good…” Tie Xuan took a deep breath, then continued:

“You’ve got the object, and sooner or later you’ll silence the witnesses. I ask you one thing, spare my sister. She knows nothing.”

Chen Yuan didn’t agree.

Sparing her was out of the question—in this lifeti, it was not going to happen. Uprooting completely was the best solution, Chen Yuan did not want to leave room for future troubles.

“Please… I beg you!” Tie Xuan’s face was pleading.

“Fine, I promise you…” Chen Yuan nodded.

“Thank you… thank you so much.”

“Enough talk, Brother Tie. Safe travels,” Chen Yuan said softly.

Tie Xuan closed his eyes, not quite understanding the aning in Chen Yuan’s words, but since he had no power left to resist, he might as well wait peacefully for death.

He could only hope that Chen Yuan would keep his word.

Chen Yuan’s palm struck his head, and the imnse power shattered his brain.

Looking at the peaceful figure of Tie Xuan, Chen Yuan stared for a mont, then rose to his feet, turned his head to the last remaining person, the second son of the Huang Family.

“How did you know that the Marrow Cleansing Spirit Pearl was hidden in my Huang Family’s possession?” The second son of the Huang Family couldn’t help but ask.

From the conversation between Tie Xuan and this constable, he understood that the downfall of the Huang Family was tied to him, and his ultimate objective was the Marrow Cleansing Spirit Pearl.
