They were in luck.
Bang! As Liou Yuan poured out all the Star Stones, the array burst into dazzling brilliance in his vision.
Finally, it reached the standard for the array’s activation.
The surrounding lake water began to distort under the light.
The power of the array was activated.
"Phew!" Liou Yuan let out a silent sigh of relief.
His body was enveloped by the power of the array, the water pressure disappeared in an instant, and even his body felt as light as a feather.
In the next mont, he and Pan Yang vanished from the crevice.
This was a damp cave space.
Fist-sized Luminous Pearls were embedded in the rock walls, emitting a soft, non-glaring warm light.
The brilliance refracted through the puddles accumulating at the cave’s bottom, weaving dreamy, fantastical light and shadows within the space.
Looking up, stalactites hung from the cave roof like inverted sharp swords, occasionally dripping liquid onto the puddles below, creating a ticking sound.
At the edge of this space, which hadn’t seen a living soul in hundreds of years, stood an array base about one yard square.
Buzz!
Along with the spatial fluctuation inside the cave.
The array’s radiance grew, enveloping that entire area.
The light flashed and disappeared, revealing Liou Yuan and Pan Yang’s figures on the array.
"Ah Qiu!" Liou Yuan sneezed uncontrollably.
His body was highly sensitive to moisture, a chronic issue he’d had since childhood.
And the moisture in this space was evidently overwhelming, causing his nose to itch intolerably.
"This is probably beneath the lake," Liou Yuan rubbed his nose slightly, feeling a bit better, as he glanced at the shifting light and shadow in the space, marveling: "It’s quite an amazing feat of nature."
"Finally found it," Pan Yang still tightly grasped the map, looking towards the deepest part of the cave.
His tone was filled with undisguised excitent: "Han Zhenzi’s remains are here."
Seeing Pan Yang’s impatient deanor, Liou Yuan wisely refrained from dampening his spirits, avoiding any talk of increasing danger as they neared success.
He quietly steeled himself.
Tap tap! They stepped on the water-laden cave floor, heading slowly towards the cave’s interior.
Soon Liou Yuan noticed sothing was amiss; they had walked close to an incense stick’s ti-length, clearly in a straight line.
When he turned around, he saw the spot where they first appeared in the cave space.
The array they used to enter this space was still standing there.
"Illusion Array!" Liou Yuan, now quite well-read, didn’t know much about arrays, but could tell at a glance they must’ve been blinded by so power.
Pan Yang then spoke of the information he had gathered on Han Zhenzi during this period.
"Although Han Zhenzi was a Loose Cultivator, his accomplishnts in the way of arrays were extrely high, considered unparalleled in Jiuli State. Many sects in Jiuli contracted him at high prices to build protective arrays."
The implication being, the obstruction of arrays wasn’t surprising.
"Mr. Liou, such an important matter, you didn’t clarify before coming." Liou Yuan’s brows furrowed.
Cultivators skilled in arrays are exceptionally difficult to deal with; their skills lie within the arrays.
Even if they die, as long as the array remains, it’s as if they were personally present.
Not to ntion, this is an array set by a Foundation Establishnt Great Cultivator.
They’re lucky it’s an array with no offensive capabilities.
If they encounter a Killing Array, even two Qi Cultivation practitioners like them would be struck down, and a Foundation Establishnt cultivator would also suffer.
"He... has been dead for hundreds of years." Pan Yang, questioned by Liou Yuan, suddenly showed embarrassed expression, awkwardly explaining: "No matter how powerful an array is, it cannot withstand the erosion of ti."
"If I had known Han Zhenzi was adept at arrays earlier, I would never have co."
Liou Yuan’s brows were already tinged with coldness, no longer calling him Mr. Pan.
He kept such crucial information hidden, clearly afraid of Liou Yuan backing out.
Pan Yang’s actions already reeked of a reckless gamble for money, yet he dragged Liou Yuan along.
Understanding his mistake, Pan Yang refrained from explaining, biting down, stating: "Mr. Liou, don’t worry, I’ll forge the path ahead as sincerity on my part."
"Fine!" Liou Yuan replied coldly, not bothering with formalities.
If not for Pan Yang’s words, Liou Yuan would have already headed back towards the Teleportation Array.
Clearly, Han Zhenzi was kind-hearted, not intending to kill intruders, having left a path through the array.
Pan Yang appeared calm, picking up the well-read map once more for several glances, then resolutely covering his eyes with a black cloth.
Under Liou Yuan’s gaze, Pan Yang directly headed towards the cave’s left-side rock wall.
Liou Yuan watched this scene without stopping it; instead, he followed along.
A bizarre scene occurred. The rock wall, which was clearly solid, emitted ripple-like patterns after Pan Yang walked through.
Pan Yang’s body passed through it without any obstruction.
"No wonder he’s so fearless, turns out he has a thod to break the array." Liou Yuan’s eyes lit up, his steps continued steadily, closely following Pan Yang.
As his body entered the rock wall, he felt his vision go dark, unable to see anything.
Apart from the tangible feeling underfoot, he couldn’t sense anything else.
He wasn’t nervous, as he closely followed Pan Yang, his hand already resting on the Profound Brilliance Sword behind him, a cold sharpness in his eyes.
Should Pan Yang intend to shake him off, he wouldn’t hesitate to swing his sword.
Fortunately, Pan Yang remained fairly honest, leading the way through the darkness, twisting and turning.
They advanced for roughly the ti it takes to burn an incense stick.
Suddenly, the darkness receded, and his vision cleared.
Before Liou Yuan’s eyes appeared a small valley of jagged rocks, covered in dark red soil.
Mist swirled faintly in the valley, and the air was cold.
The chill clung to Liou Yuan’s clothes, dampened by lake water, like maggots on bone, causing discomfort despite being harmless.
Liou Yuan surveyed the space before finally focusing on a circular stone platform in the valley’s center, surrounded by blooming flowers.
The platform rose high from the ground, about ten feet tall, made of unknown white stones.
In the platform’s center, Liou Yuan saw an emaciated figure with its head drooping.
Its head was buried in its chest, obscuring its face, but the figure’s skin and bones were like kindling, sitting cross-legged in the thin mist.
"Han Zhenzi?" Liou Yuan whispered, naming what could be the remains of Han Zhenzi.
Only the body of a Foundation Establishnt Great Cultivator can remain uncorrupted for centuries.
At this ti, Pan Yang, who was leading the way ahead, also reached out to pull down the blindfold covering his eyes.
Pan Yang’s eyes shone with excitent, as he pointed at the stone platform, his voice trembling with suppressed excitent: "That’s the place."
Without waiting for Liou Yuan, Pan Yang quickly walked towards the center of the valley.
Liou Yuan followed silently, the suspicion in his eyes growing.
"It’s that simple?"
A Foundation Establishnt Great Cultivator’s place of death has only a simple Illusion Array.
Liou Yuan didn’t believe it.
If he were Han Zhenzi, he would have arranged every array he could before dying, ensuring there would be no place of burial for those who would desecrate his corpse.
So he kept a distance of three feet behind Pan Yang, the perfect distance.
If anything happened to Pan Yang, there would be enough ti to react.
At the sa ti, Liou Yuan activated the Evil Eyes, rapidly scanning the surroundings, with the stone platform at the center.
Soon, he noticed sothing amiss.
On the cliff sides of the valley, he saw three cave entrances obscured by dense shrubs.
Those shrubbery leaves were a dark red color and grew in very deliberate positions, as if purposefully planted there.
No array thods or cultivator’s techniques disguised them, so there were no fluctuations of Spiritual Power.
They were ant to blend flawlessly with the surroundings.
Ordinarily, having caves in a mountain is normal.
But this was no ordinary valley, triggering Liou Yuan’s vigilance, prompting a silent inner warning: "Sothing’s not right!"
This thought had just landed.
Pan Yang, who was moving ahead, suddenly leapt onto the circular stone platform.
Almost the mont he landed on the platform.
It seed to activate so kind of chanism.
Clang-clang-clang!
A series of iron chain collisions erupted from the three caves Liou Yuan had previously noticed.
The crisp sound echoed in the valley, lingering long without dispersing.
Liou Yuan’s body tensed, hand already gripping the sword.
Bang! In the instant the Profound Brilliance unsheathed.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
Three inhuman, shrill wails simultaneously ca from the cave locations.
The sound was like tal scraping against tal, dry and accompanied by a piercing screech.
