Accompanied by a flash of light, Li Xin opened his eyes again and found himself back at the inn. He sprang up from the bed, pushed open the window, and looked outside, his mood greatly improved.

Miss Aries is no ordinary person; she managed to get it done in such a short ti. It makes sense though. With an Extraordinary ssenger like Chris, she must be from a wealthy family.

He rembered Chris’s preference for red fish, and he needed to prepare so. This little bird has quite a temper. He hurried downstairs to buy so at the market and grab a al on the way back.

Saint George Market was bustling at noon, crowded with people and noisy vendors all shouting at the top of their lungs. He saw Justin—damn, if he hadn’t seen him, he’d have forgotten the guy. Justin was performing magic with Mr. Kan. His schedule was now ticulously planned: painting with Dalivin in the afternoon, fortune-telling with Old Fang in the evening, and then Justin’s favorite ti—going to the bar with David to flirt with girls.

David had grown tired of the old bars and wanted to move up to more high-end ones. But in those places, relying solely on looks wasn’t enough. The style was different, and a master gradually evolves. Pairing up with Master Justin, David found himself much more welcod. Not only could rich won pay for them, but they also frequently engaged in recreational activities together.

Beautiful won are all different. Aside from their larger tempers, wealthy won indeed have a unique charm and taste. Once you try it, you can’t go back.

Justin thoroughly enjoyed being adored wherever he went, dressing more and more exquisitely. He was no longer the black cat that could roll in dirty water. Even Qi Badao might not recognize the genteel, strutting feline spirit now.

Li Xin did not join in the excitent. He first bought the fish, haggled with the seller, and got six red sea fish—ridiculously expensive, damn it. Here in Hedan, eating sea fish is trendy; the redder, the more expensive. Really, how much difference can the taste make?

He picked up a serving of beef and five buns from Old Moorton and a large cup of coffee from Karto. It felt like he had to work in the afternoon, with poverty being his greatest motivation for creativity.

Returning to the inn, he put the fish in a basin, hoping they wouldn’t die. Chris doesn’t eat dead fish. He placed the door by the window, and in no ti, Li Xin had finished his lunch, picked up his coffee, patted his face, and sat upright before the typewriter.

He took a few sips of coffee, looked at the fish, sat down, then took a few more sips of coffee, stood at the window to see the fish and the view outside, then sat back down to stare blankly at the typewriter.

After half an hour, Li Xin finally got into the zone, and the typewriter began to clatter away.

When inspiration strikes, it feels like waves surging endlessly, rising to one climax after another. Li Xin typed furiously, his whole state revitalized, hands waving as he typed for quite a while until he stopped. When he looked up, he found a bird standing beside him, staring at his manuscript.

A bird that likes reading novels?

Chris looked at this human with a complex expression. How could soone who seed so foolish write such captivating stories? Could it be that the gods opened a window for this simple human?

Although he felt no communication in his mind, Li Xin, looking at this bird, couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t thinking nice thoughts.

On the table lay a folded map. "Please convey my heartfelt thanks to Miss Aries. It will be of great use," said Li Xin.

Chris nodded arrogantly, and with a whoosh, flew out from the window, shooting straight into the sky. Such a catapult takeoff was unmatched by any wobbly owls or nightjars.

This haughty little creature, Li Xin didn’t mind. Surprisingly, the fish in the basin were still lively—what was going on?

Li Xin splashed water in the basin, and the fish imdiately darted around like tails on fire. He grabbed one—quite plump and fresh. Are they really this picky?

Well, he could take them to Ma Liu later in the evening for so spicy fish slices and a few drinks to comfort himself. This is the good life...

Wait a second, why Ma Liu? His brain must be short-circuited.

Such important information must be delivered directly to Christie. Going to the Hex Bird Society was too busy and crowded; of course, he’d wait at ho for her. After eating her al, it was ti to showcase his own culinary skills.

The spices were ready; he had them in his wristband. But Ma Liu had an even richer variety. Lirong Inn had recently been introducing various derivative stir-fry dishes. It used to seem that Ma Liu had an understanding, but now it felt like he was just improvising, with all sorts of spices available. A little bit would suffice.

Entering the kitchen, Ma Liu was tidying up, still needing to prepare for the evening. His day was filled with activity, quite fulfilling. Li Xin packed so spices, grabbed a handful of pepper. "Ma Liu, I have a technical question for you. Would there be any conflict for soone who has tried Dark Cuisine if they eat a Gourt’s cuisine?"

Ma Liu paused in his busy work, thought for a mont, and said, "It would... be... uncomfortable." Mimicking a motion of vomiting and stomach pain.

Li Xin nodded, no wonder Mr. Cancer knew it all.

With bags of supplies ready, he packed the fish happily and headed to 88 Mahler Street, 109, a familiar route. The conditions here were indeed much better than the Lirong Inn—once accustod to luxury, it’s hard to go back.

Opening the door, Christie was not in. Li Xin started preparing the ingredients, leaving the fish for last. It was too hot in Hedan, and once the fish was killed, it could spoil easily if left too long. Ma Liu always bought food early in the morning, handling and cooking it fresh.

At dusk, Christie returned. She tossed her shoes aside, sat on the sofa, gently massaging her white toes, and didn’t speak as she saw Li Xin busy in the kitchen—her brows furrowed with fatigue.

Progress was hampered. She had hoped to gain so support from headquarters, but diplomatically, there were no more options. Perhaps higher-ups had other considerations, and it was up to them to break the stalemate.

Reports from the action team indicated a powerful Hidden Power within the Mother Goddess School, too strong to approach. Lanuo Restaurant was even worse, impossible to get near as a guest. Their reservation system excluded the Night Patrol at this level, and they didn’t need outsiders even as applicants for servers. They used their own people from the Gourt Association; outsiders couldn’t infiltrate.

Attempts were even made to work on material supplies, only to find all ingredients were from Marquis William’s exclusive channels. These channels also provided specifically to the Royal Palace, making it difficult for outsiders to interfere. Even deliveries ended with imdiate handoffs at the restaurant, leaving no chance to get inside. Forcing an opportunity would only alert the vigilant opponent.

"Take a seat; I’ll show you sothing today," Li Xin said as he saw Christie return and began preparing.

Christie nodded, curling her bare feet on the sofa, her mind pondering what to do. She had been in Hedan for years, all for this mont. Just as the opportunity arose, every path seed fraught with difficulties.

As she stretched her leg, it seed to bump into sothing.
