Kathy took out the decanter from the cabinet, letting the red wine breathe, and watched Li Xin in the kitchen where knives flashed. Judging by his flashy stance, he seems to have so skills. Looks like making a living in Hedan isn’t easy; he even learned so culinary arts.
"Not bad, I was worried you’d starve in Hedan, but now it seems like you’re living quite comfortably," Kathy said, picking a bright green bean and popping it into her mouth. After chewing a few tis, her eyes widened, "Delicious, crisp and fresh with a hint of sweetness."
Li Xin smiled proudly, "Of course, I’m a master chef now. Even if I lose my job, I could open a restaurant."
Kathy ate a piece of jellyfish head, her eyes wide, "What’s this?"
"Jellyfish head," Li Xin replied with a smile.
"And what’s this paste? Why does it sll so good?" Kathy, who was pampered since childhood and had seen all kinds of gourt foods, couldn’t recognize half of Li Xin’s dishes.
"Secretly made abalone liver sauce, my specialty, even a god would be amazed."
"How is that possible? Why does it taste like this?" Kathy asked in shock; it was so unique and delicious.
"Hehe, trade secret!" Li Xin shrugged smugly, but Kathy’s hand imdiately went up.
"Ahh, why does everyone like to pinch ears, ouch, ouch, I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you, the secret is this spoon," Li Xin pointed to the gourt spoon tossed aside, "This thing can enhance flavor, so I use it to make stock, then soak the needed ingredients in it. It doesn’t take long to bring out another layer of flavor and enrich the texture of the ingredients. Marvelous, it seems the Gourt Association doesn’t need high technical skills, just a spoon will do."
Kathy picked up the gourt spoon, her pupils flashing a red light, "There are only about twenty of these known in the entire Dao Yuan Eastern Continent, each treasured like a gem, and you’re using it like this?"
"Things are ant to be used. Otherwise, what’s the point? I thought gourts were just playing around, didn’t expect it to be so practical, haha. If it didn’t consu its hidden power with every use, I’d really open a store with it," Li Xin said regretfully.
"If the gourt who gave it to you knew, they might drop dead on the spot," Kathy shook her head. "The Gourt Association targets worldly elites and those whose mastery of hidden power has reached a certain level. Their taste buds have beco numb, and only the Gourt Association can awaken them. Your spoon here could be the star of an auction, many powerful people would be willing to pay for it."
"That’s a good suggestion; I could sell it when short on cash," Li Xin chuckled.
"Make sure to cook more delicious food for before you sell it," Kathy laughed.
"Don’t worry, this is only for family use."
"Nice of you, but no matter how good the food is, you still need to go to Canon Law School for either the experience or the resu; it’s beneficial for the future. You’re not a rigid person," Kathy said. "As for Night Patrol, your contributions in Celestial Capital and Hedan are enough to qualify for a captain position, but age is an issue, and so matters can’t be ntioned. Even if I submit it, it may not be approved, so I suggest the Shadow Owl Team, specifically for Dragon Capital’s Night Patrol, handling tricky issues and internal problems, and offers many opportunities. For a safer path, there’s always logistics."
"Let it be Shadow Owl. Actually, I quite like Canon Law School, just afraid it might be too comfortable," Li Xin said.
"Relax, the world runs just fine without anyone," Kathy smiled.
Lin Fei and Xueyin also got up and ca downstairs. With a thud thud thud sound, Xueyin, like a little snow rabbit, dashed out and jumped onto Li Xin’s back, "Ah Xin, what delicious food did you make? Wow~~ it slls so good. Auntie Kathy, you can’t sneak a bite!"
Kathy pinched Lin Xueyin’s cheek, "I’m just testing it for poison."
As she spoke, she stuffed a deboned chicken claw into Xueyin’s mouth. At first, Xueyin wanted to resist, but once she tasted it, her big watery eyes froze, looking at Li Xin incredulously while munching, her eyes shining brightly, making satisfied noises.
"Ah Xin, how did you do it?"
"Alright, settle in, let’s eat," Kathy said, helping Li Xin set the table. She felt more at ho here than at her own place.
Every adult had a glass of red wine, and Xueyin got a glass of juice. Looking at her juice, then at their wine, Xueyin pouted, a bit frustrated.
"Co on, welco Ah Xin back, cheers," Lin Fei said. The four clinked glasses, the crisp sound amidst Kathy and Xueyin eagerly digging in. Watching them eat so happily, Lin Fei also picked a piece of at and put it in her mouth. Instantly, the at’s tender texture exploded in her mouth, the rich flavor soaking through, yet not greasy, instantly sparking all her appetite.
"I think I might go out of business at ho," Lin Fei said incredulously, looking at the dishes, trying more, each incredibly delicious yet distinct.
"Li Xin, don’t use that spoon anymore. If we get used to such flavors, what if it becos hard to eat anything else?" Kathy said, no wonder people say once you’ve tasted Gourt Association’s food, it’s hard to leave.
"I didn’t expect it to be this exaggerated," Li Xin said. On the ship, he just used it casually, given the limited ingredients, the improvent was limited. But at ho, with his good cooking skills and selected ingredients, using it with heart, and the gourt spoon’s boost was incredible.
"Today’s just a little celebration, using so tricks, it can only be used occasionally," Li Xin hastily said.
Good wine and food, the four ate happily and warmly. Xueyin was uncharacteristically well-behaved, completely captivated by the food. Lin Fei, exhausted and stressed the last few days, had just indulged in sleep, the good food rejuvenating her. Kathy felt the sa; Cardinal Hall’s work isn’t light, anyone less savvy wouldn’t even know how they died in there.
After a glass of red wine, Kathy picked up the decanter again, poured another glass. Lin Fei and Xueyin gave Kathy curious looks. Kathy smiled, "What, drink more when happy, life is about moving forward."
"Okay, so I don’t end up wrapping up alone every ti, today let’s indulge a bit, no backing out," Lin Fei said happily. It’s a good sign, drinking is most annoying when soone stops halfway.
Li Xin missed out, the two won, happy as can be, whether elegant or not, chat endlessly. After dinner, Xueyin was sent to do her howork, and Li Xin was left to clean up the table.
