From the cri scene, everything around appeared undamaged, with no signs of a struggle.
"Broken Gong, have you checked?" Li Xin asked.
"Li Yinxiao, ng Po told us to secure the area. No one can enter before you arrive. We haven’t touched anything," Broken Gong controlled his chaotic emotions, biting down, "Boss Jiang self-destructed. We, the Night Patrol, have a self-destruct spell preventing soul extraction, usually only learned at Captain Level."
Li Xin nodded, opened the Eye of Secrets, noticing no signs of a fight, all the blood belonged to Jiang Wu. He scanned the area, noticing half a footprint under the table, which everyone focused on, marking it as the killer’s.
The window was open; the only witness was the Mandrake flower ticulously cared for by Jiang Wu.
"ng Po, tell us what you saw," Li Xin asked after a mont of silence.
"Li Yinxiao, it was noon. I wanted to take Sugar Cake to eat, ca up to notify Boss Jiang, and then saw this scene. I quickly sent Snake Skin to find you and gathered all Shadow Owl mbers," ng Po said.
"Did you notice anything downstairs?" Li Xin asked, and everyone looked at ng Po.
As a seasoned Shadow Owl and Life Master, ng Po had keen insight. A Four Lives Knight dying without detection was simply unimaginable.
Killing a Four Lives Knight is extrely difficult unless by an Angel, and this was on Shadow Owl territory. Even an Angel would find it challenging not to cause any disturbance.
ng Po felt both ashad and angry, "I truly noticed nothing unusual. If there were any Spiritual Ability reactions or abnormal sounds, I would have detected them!"
"ng Po, were you too focused on Sugar Cake and overlooked, or did you leave midway?" Drunkard asked.
"Yan Bei, you can’t utter nonsense like you eat freely. I always do my tasks ticulously. Don’t spew nonsense!" ng Po retorted angrily.
"ng Po, calm down first. Given the boss’s strength, the opponent must have ambushed and used Secret Arts, not engaged in direct combat. How could it be silent? You noticed nothing all morning?" Broken Gong asked.
ng Po glared furiously, then deflated like a punctured ball, "After Li Yinxiao left in the morning, I stayed downstairs, knitting a sweater. If I hadn’t been knitting, there might have been negligence, but while knitting, it’s impossible for soone to co without my knowing."
The others knew ng Po used knitting as a way to lay a net, setting a guard post throughout the base to fend off sinister forces.
Everyone looked at Li Xin, ng Po hurriedly waved her hands, "Li Yinxiao, I’m not suspecting you."
Li Xin nodded, "I understand. Snake Skin, you go to the Great Cathedral. This matter must be reported to the tropolitan. The others, stay here."
Through this deduction, Li Xin and ng Po were suspects. They were the only ones to have contacted Jiang Wu that morning; although they didn’t have the direct capability to kill Jiang Wu, they could have collaborated with outsiders.
... Seriously considering, Li Xin might be capable, but even he couldn’t silently kill Jiang Wu. It’s inconceivable what power could result in such a tragic end for a Knightly Path expert.
Lu Shuimo nodded, imdiately departing, maintaining the integrity of the scene. Li Xin didn’t leave to prove his innocence; at such a ti, all suspects had to remain on-site.
"Where’s Sugar Cake?" Li Xin asked.
"He’s playing in the room," ng Po replied, "I have a brother watching him."
Li Xin nodded; at that mont, all Shadow Owl mbers were under extre pressure, dealing with the captain’s tragic death on their own territory, indicating the savagery and recklessness of the killer.
Li Xin suspected it related to Jiang Wu’s ongoing role-playing of the Little Skinned. Could those worms truly be associated with the Fake Embryo?
If it was a Fake Embryo, then the worms Jiang Wu collected were extrely crucial, kept in a secret location. Plus, Jiang Wu’s self-destruction aid to prevent soul search techniques from being used, knowing he couldn’t resist the opponent’s power.
Suddenly, Li Xin’s expression changed, "Have we sent anyone to the captain’s house?"
ng Po and others were stunned, their expressions drastically changing, fearing it might be too late. Given the killer dared act on Shadow Owl turf, they were thorough in planning.
Li Xin was just about to send Yan Bei to check when Church Court personnel arrived.
It was the Judicial Court.
Donning dark red uniforms, led by Lord tropolitan Lei Qinglu, Lei Qinglu arrived at the second floor, checking the scene with a stern face, while other Judicial Court mbers subtly surrounded the Night Patrol.
"Li Xin."
"Yes, Lord tropolitan."
"Explain the situation," Lei Qinglu said solemnly.
Li Xin recounted the day’s events, including reporting the Little Skinned case to Jiang Wu in the morning but omitting critical details.
Lei Qinglu glanced at Li Xin, summoning ng Po over, "Your net didn’t detect any fluctuations?"
"None, my lord," ng Po lowered her head, face full of sha and self-reproach. As a Copper Owl responsible for surveillance, detecting nothing despite enemy infiltration was a massive humiliation.
Lei Qinglu’s expression remained unchanged, "Bring the body back. Stay in Dragon Capital and don’t wander. Li Xin, you temporarily take charge of Shadow Owl’s captaincy."
"Lord tropolitan, I’m worried about the captain’s family’s safety. I want to check there," Li Xin said.
Lei Qinglu glanced at Li Xin lightly, "Everyone else disperse. Do what you’re supposed to do. Not a word of today’s events is to leak outside. Explain matters to the team. Jiang Wu’s tragic passing will be addressed by the Church Court."
ng Po and others dared not speak in Lei Qinglu’s presence, only departing. The Judicial Court began processing the scene, with Lei Qinglu and Li Xin moving to a nearby conference room.
"The killer has already been to Jiang Wu’s ho," Lei Qinglu said, "No one was left alive. The killer searched everywhere. What do you think they’re looking for?"
Li Xin’s heart sank, face serious, "Lord tropolitan, I haven’t been with Shadow Owl long and am unfamiliar with Jiang Wu’s cases. Recently, I’ve been occupied with the Little Skinned case. This incident involves the Divine Revelation Canon Law School, so I’ve mostly been in the Canon Law School seeking solutions."
Lei Qinglu nodded, "Did you notice anything unusual about Jiang Wu?"
Li Xin thought a mont, shaking his head, "Lord tropolitan, though short in Shadow Owl, Jiang Wu gave lots of help, being responsible and diligent. Can we, Shadow Owl, participate in the investigation?"
Lei Qinglu paused in silence, "The Judicial Court has taken over this case; you shouldn’t ddle. You’re temporary captain of Shadow Owl. Though young, you’ve always perford steadily. Monitor team emotions and don’t disrupt regular work."
Li Xin noticed Lei Qinglu’s expression, knowing it’s futile to argue. He had no room for negotiation.
"Yes, my lord."
Lei Qinglu and Judicial Court mbers left with Jiang Wu’s body. The original office only had bloodstains and a footprint left, which the Judicial Court had photographed and copied, still requiring them to safeguard the scene for a while to prevent any oversights.
