Now reading: Chapter 508 - 299: Lie Worm Argongos from I Have a Sailing Game, a Fantasy novel by Useless Beggar Scholar.

A series of prompts rang in succession.

Simultaneously, another overwhelming scene unfolded before Rogel’s eyes.

As he held the scale in his hand, its two sides suddenly burst forth with contrasting radiance.

One side evolved two mysterious forces.

One wrapped the Lie Worm within the crystal and placed it in the weighing instrunt, while another force landed at Doyle’s brow, enveloping a small, transparent worm, and placing both on the weighing instrunt.

After that, a sudden ghostly purple glow and a wisp of blue droplet appeared on the other side of the scale.

In this mont, both sides of the scale balanced perfectly.

The next mont, the scale shattered suddenly, and the body and soul of the Lie Worm vanished.

The ghostly purple glow then fell into Doyle’s brow.

As for the wisp of blue droplet, it was as if devoured by the void, suddenly disappearing to an unknown place.

Following closely was sothing even more astounding to Rogel.

Because he was surprised to find that Doyle’s body Tier had suddenly elevated to a terrifying level at this mont!

Demigod!

But this seed... just the Tier?

However, Rogel had no ti to think any further.

In front of him, Doyle slowly opened his eyes, accompanied by an extrely frightening oppressive feeling of Tier.

This terrifying power made it impossible for Rogel to break free, with no way to escape.

Doyle had used so special ans to directly elevate his Tier to Demigod?!

Rogel found it hard to believe in his heart.

He forcibly suppressed the tremor in his body, looking at Doyle before him.

"Is this your goal? To ascend to Demigod with this scale?"

To Rogel,

facing Doyle after hearing his words, there was a great chance he would show a triumphant smile, then laugh heartily in glee.

But he quickly thought of Doyle’s previous deanor, feeling sowhat perplexed.

And Doyle’s reaction upon opening his eyes was entirely different from what he anticipated.

"..."

His gaze was filled with confusion as he frowned, rubbed his head, then looked up at Rogel.

"Who are you..."

Before finishing his words, Doyle was again plunged into a headache, collapsing onto one knee with a bang, clutching his head while letting out a low groan of pain.

With his movent, the terrifying Demigod intimidation also dissipated into nothingness.

Rogel looked at Doyle in front of him, utterly baffled.

What on earth was happening?

Rogel remained silent.

A mont later, Doyle finally recovered from that pain.

He slowly lifted his head, the confusion and bewildernt in his eyes now replaced by sadness.

"Argongos..."

Doyle looked down at his own hands, with a rather forlorn smile.

"You..." Rogel squinted and hesitated for a mont: "You are not Doyle? Are you?"

Upon hearing Rogel’s words, he lifted his head and sighed: "I am Doyle Devis, but not the Doyle Devis you know."

"To be precise, it was the Lie Worm, Argongos."

After a bitter smile, his face bore an apologetic expression: "I am sorry, Mr. Rogel..."

Rogel heard this, his brows furrowed tightly.

Piecing together what had just occurred, he had a vague suspicion in his heart.

"Are you... Doyle Devis who was burned on the pyre?"

"...Yes."

Doyle sighed, nodding, then slowly stood up from the ground.

Subsequently, he set his gaze upon the empty crystal, in which the body of the Lie Worm had vanished without a trace.

"It used the power of the Judgnt Balance, sacrificed its own body and soul... to bring back from Hell."

Rogel couldn’t help but be stunned, feeling utterly shocked in his heart.

Doyle... no, it should be called Argongos...

"Why did it do this?"

"And why did it involve ?"

Rogel asked consecutively, overwheld with questions.

His relationship with Argongos began with that paper contract, believing it to be an extrely vile entity plotting a world-shaking conspiracy...

But now it seed, its sole purpose was to resurrect the real Doyle Devis?

Facing Rogel’s doubts.

Doyle didn’t respond imdiately but went to a crystal step and invited Rogel to sit as well.

"Sit down, Argongos had long arranged everything, and let reveal all the truths to you..."

One could clearly see the crystal with a hollow center from here.

Rogel, filled with countless questions, also sat down.

...

Doyle Devis.

A young man born into the Extraordinary Influence, the Devis Clan, harboring noble and far-reaching ideals.

Like many youth, he initially aspired to explore the vast and dangerous seas.

He acted on this aspiration, gathering like-minded companions and charging into the ocean without hesitation.

After an exhilarating journey, Doyle discovered a peculiar region in a mysterious realm amidst the boundary fog.

Sheltered there were ancient mysterious beings, the Lie Worm—Argongos.

It was a peculiar worm.

It couldn’t command natural disasters, nor harness great power, and lacked formidable Tier power.

It could even be considered weak, its Extraordinary Bloodline having an inherent defect, with a very short lifespan.

Yet it wielded a power capable enough to alter the course of world history.

[Lies and Truth]

This was the magical power Argongos had from birth.

As the Lie Worm, it only needed to deceive intelligent beings, make its lies co true, and in return gain great feedback.

Due to this ability, it deceived nurous intelligent lives during ancient tis, later maneuvering among gods, using its cunning intellect to cause the collapse of a grand dynasty, chasing after the ethereal sun.

That dynasty was indeed the ’Sun Chasing Dynasty’ which Rogel had once heard of.

As a result, it gained a trendously prolonged life.

But later on, a god saw through its lies.

To escape punishnt, Argongos used its ability and intelligence to sever its shell and soul, entering a slumber.

Doyle encountered precisely the soul of Argongos.

The young Doyle was deceived by it, and together they coexisted in one body.

As an ancient deceiver, Argongos was naturally no benevolent worm, it repeatedly lured Doyle to seek its body.

Simultaneously eroding Doyle’s soul, attempting to occupy his body.

However, this was not sothing achievable in a short ti.

One human and one worm spending days and nights together was inevitable.

Argongos was quite resentful of this; if not compelled by circumstances, it had never been so close to another soul.

anwhile, Doyle was desperately seeking a solution, but to no avail, and happened to face the Church’s invasion.

Initially, Doyle wasn’t so noble.

He had aspirations but was not selfless enough to risk his life for mankind.

But the appearance of Argongos made him feel like giving up entirely.

Since he was going to die anyway, why not do sothing aningful.

Consequently, Doyle walked the path of rebellion against Church authority.

During this journey, he and Argongos witnessed countless events.

Wars and tragedies, human nature’s good and evil, love and hate...

Doyle beca increasingly resolute.

He didn’t want humanity to be enslaved by the Church, turned into livestock void of dreams.

His dream was to freely sail the ocean.

But he wished even more that others could freely sail the ocean too.

Argongos, on the other hand, beca silent.

Most of its ti was spent amongst the upper levels of this world.

Because only they could provide enough feedback for its lies.

This journey with Doyle, though a small fraction of its life, seemingly... allowed it to truly see itself.

Being born into deceit and lies, it was genuinely hard by the concept of "truth".

Every ti it touched truth, it received negative feedback.

Deception made it strong, lies protected it.

But perhaps it was a dark joke by the heavens; deep within the heart of this Lie Worm, there was an earnest longing for a real "friend"...
