"Dad, did you get the hair?" Once the call connected, Qin Yun asked.
"Yun."
On the phone, Qin Guodong’s voice sounded a bit anxious. "Your grandpa found out about your second aunt."
He’d taken a huge hit himself today, so he hadn’t managed to hide it in front of Old Mr. Qin. In the end, he still told him everything.
"Grandpa knows?" Hearing what Qin Guodong said, Qin Yun thought silently.
But his father, Qin Guodong, was never good at hiding things, so he had already anticipated this outco.
"Dad, if Grandpa knows, he knows. He’s getting old—just let him wait at ho for the results," Qin Yun said.
At that, Qin Guodong gave a wry smile. "There’s no talking your grandpa down. He told to call a car, and if I didn’t, he’d go out to the road to flag one down himself. He’s making a fuss about coming to Jinling."
"Coming to Jinling?"
Qin Yun froze for a second. After thinking it over briefly, he could only say, "Dad, then you all co along with Grandpa to Jinling. I’ll make arrangents here."
A daughter who’d been "dead" for over forty years suddenly turning up—Old Mr. Qin obviously couldn’t stay calm; he wanted to see her as soon as possible.
...
Ti flew, and a few hours passed quickly.
By now, three cars had already entered Jinling.
"Second, when are we getting to Xiaoyu’s place?" Old Mr. Qin was in high spirits, glaring at Qin Guodong as he spoke.
There was a clear trace of anxiety on his face. This was already the seventh ti he’d asked.
"Dad, Yun already said, we’re going to the hospital first. We’ll think about what to do next after the test results are out," Qin Guodong said helplessly.
In truth, of course he wanted to go straight to Li Fang’s ho. Even after all these years, he still had deep feelings for his younger sister and naturally wanted to see her as soon as possible.
But Li Fang’s identity hadn’t been confird yet. If she really was Qin Qiuyu, that was fine; if not, then their whole family rushing to Li Fang’s place like that would be completely inappropriate.
Relatively speaking, doing a test wouldn’t actually take that long.
When he finished speaking, Old Mr. Qin glared at him. "Yun too, honestly. Finding out about sothing like this and not telling sooner, even letting you keep it from !"
He was clearly a bit displeased about Qin Yun hiding it from him earlier. Even the grandson he was proudest of was getting scolded now.
Qin Guodong gave a bitter smile and said nothing.
In fact, it wasn’t just their branch of the family—Qin Guoliang’s, Qin Guobin’s, and the eldest aunt’s and younger aunt’s families were all in the cars as well.
Qin Yun’s eldest aunt’s family lived in Jing City. They’d just attended Qin Xiaohai’s wedding and hadn’t left yet.
Everyone had actually been chewed out by Old Mr. Qin once already.
But that was normal. He was anxious right now, and saying these things actually helped ease so of that anxiety.
Finally, the cars pulled up and stopped sowhere. Qin Yun was already waiting there.
Seeing them, Qin Yun walked straight over. "Grandpa, Dad..."
He greeted them all in turn. The whole Qin Family clan really was here.
"Yun, this is your grandpa’s hair." Qin Guodong handed a small bag to Qin Yun.
Qin Yun took it, then passed two small bags to a doctor standing beside him.
"Grandpa, let’s wait a bit. We should have the results in about six hours."
The normal process for a paternity test takes five days, but of course Qin Yun had gone with the fastest option, with no procedures to handle in between.
Once he found out how long they’d have to wait, Old Mr. Qin insisted on going to Li Fang’s ho to have a look, but everyone talked him out of it.
It was already nightti now. Before the results were out, a whole big family barging in on soone—if they called the police, they wouldn’t even have a leg to stand on.
Everyone waited for the results, and after the long six-hour wait finally passed, the test results were at last ready.
"Mr. Qin, here are the results. Please take a look." The sa doctor from before handed a docunt envelope to Qin Yun.
Qin Yun took it and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Dr. Zhao."
Dr. Zhao exchanged a few polite words and then left quickly.
Everyone from the Qin Family turned to look at the envelope in Qin Yun’s hand. No one spoke; they even unconsciously held their breath.
It suddenly went quiet all around.
The previously anxious Old Mr. Qin was the sa, staring fixedly at the envelope in Qin Yun’s hand.
Under everyone’s gaze, Qin Yun took the docunt out of the envelope and glanced through it. When he finished, a smile instantly appeared on his face.
"Yun, how is it?"
"What do the results say?"
Seeing the smile on his face, the Qin Family mbers imdiately brightened. The result was obviously the outco they’d been hoping for.
Even so, they still asked to be sure.
"Grandpa, Dad... the report shows that Aunt Li Fang really is Second Aunt—she’s one of us, from the Qin Family." He handed the test report over for everyone to see.
"That’s wonderful!"
"I knew Xiaoyu was blessed and fated to survive without accident!"
The Qin Family mbers all grew excited.
"Yun, now that we have the results, we can go to Fourth’s place, right?" Old Mr. Qin said.
In the Qin Family’s second generation, Eldest Brother Qin Guoliang was the oldest, Qin Yun’s eldest aunt Qin Xiaolan was second, Qin Yun’s father Qin Guodong was third, and Qin Qiuyu ranked fourth.
When he finished, Qin Guoliang tried to reason with him. "Dad, it’s already two in the morning. Xiaoyu’s family is probably asleep."
"Hmph! First you wouldn’t let see her, and now the results are out and you still won’t let see her!" At that, Old Mr. Qin snorted angrily again.
Just then, Qin Yun thought for a mont and said, "Grandpa, don’t worry. I’ll send Second Aunt a ssage. If she’s still up, she’ll definitely reply. If she’s asleep, then we’ll go after daybreak—it’s only a few hours either way."
Seeing that Old Mr. Qin agreed, Qin Yun sent a ssage to Li Fang.
"Aunt Li, the test results are out..." He typed a bit, then sent it.
He’d told her earlier what ti the results would be ready, so for all he knew, Li Fang might not have gone to bed yet.
Just as Qin Yun had guessed, only a few seconds after he sent the ssage, a reply ca back.
"I’m still awake. You all can co over."
Seeing the ssage, a faint smile appeared on Qin Yun’s face.
"Grandpa, Dad... Second Aunt’s still up. Let’s head over." The whole family was in high spirits as they went to the complex where Li Fang lived.
...
In the sixty-odd-square-ter apartnt, Li Fang hadn’t gone to bed.
Over forty years is enough ti for all traces of the past to be smoothed over by the years.
She had almost no mory of anything before age five. She only knew she’d been adopted because her adoptive parents told her so.
But today, suddenly hearing about her real family from Qin Yun’s mouth—even if she’d seed fairly calm on the surface—her heart had never settled down.
