Now reading: Chapter 29: The Problematic Cafeteria from I Just Wanted to Be a Galactic Hunter—Why Am I on the Wanted List?, a Sci-fi novel by 剑屠雨Rain Slayer.

Just as Loren was walking out of the dormitory building, he was stopped by the three ard prison guards.

They asked Loren what he was going to do.

Loren said he was hungry and wanted to go to the cafeteria to get sothing to eat.

Only then was Loren able to leave the dormitory building.

While doing these things, "Fortune" was being manipulated by the raven and remained attached to Loren throughout the entire process.

Loren couldn't imagine how difficult things would be if he didn't have "Fortune."

After entering the prison guards' exclusive cafeteria, Loren casually found a corner to sit down.

Because it was separated from the prisoners' cafeteria, the atmosphere in the guards' cafeteria was quite good.

The decor was elegant and distinctive, and since the walls used sound-absorbing materials, the interior of the cafeteria was very quiet.

The only sounds around were the soft voices that occasionally reached Loren's ears.

What surprised Loren the most was that after listening for a while.

Loren learned that all the food and drinks here were completely free for the prison guards.

Loren observed what the prison guards currently eating in the cafeteria were having.

Various kinds of fruit juices, high-quality at products, and all sorts of fresh vegetables.

Loren's eyes lit up - it seed this was the place.

The intelligence deduced by that investigator wasn't wrong.

On this resource planet that didn't engage in agricultural production, being able to eat these things.

Already indicated that this prison was extrely problematic.

Not to ntion that these vegetables and ats specifically transported from other planets were actually provided unlimited and free of charge.

Loren got up from the corner and ca to the cafeteria counter, ordering so at dishes and a cup of juice.

Before taking action, it would be better to first experience these fresh foods.

Returning to his seat, he ate quietly.

"Master, that looks delicious. Before you start, can you save so for ?"

"I'm still quite curious about human food."

The raven's voice sounded again in Loren's mind.

Loren glanced toward the cafeteria counter and silently signaled to the raven.

After we take action later, all that food will be yours.

"As you command! Dear master." The voice in Loren's mind fell silent.

Loren continued enjoying the delicious food with peace of mind.

A while later.

The Fortune previously attached to Loren was about to expire.

So the raven activated its ability again.

"Fortune."

Different from the previous tis, after this ability activation.

Soon, two prison guards entered the cafeteria.

After the two guards each ordered their als, they sat down not far from Loren.

Then, these two guards began their daily conversation.

It seed these were two guards who had just gotten off duty.

"Exhausted. As soon as we start work, we have to supervise those miners who love to slack off."

"If you ask , the higher-ups should send more superhumans in to mine."

"These ordinary people not only have completely inadequate physical strength and willpower, but they also love to slack off. Even electric baton shocks don't work on them."

One of the guards began complaining as soon as he sat down.

"Don't even think about it. Those fat pigs who only sit in offices won't send superhumans in."

"They're afraid the captured superhumans might secretly use the mined spirit stones to cultivate."

"It wouldn't be good if rebels appeared."

The other person began agreeing.

It seed these two guards held quite deep resentnt about their jobs.

"When will this damned spirit stone deposit be mined out? I really want to go on vacation."

One guard took a sip of juice, leaned back in his chair, and sighed sowhat helplessly.

The other guard, seeing his colleague so dejected, smiled and teased:

"Don't even think about vacation."

"At the current pace, the spirit stone deposit can be mined for at least several more decades."

"Because of the energy magnetic field, technological machines malfunction as soon as they enter these spirit stone deposits."

"We can't use machines for mining, only manual labor."

"And if we keep using ordinary people for mining, your vacation plans will have to be postponed for at least several decades."

The guard who wanted to go on vacation beca even more dejected after hearing his colleague's words.

He playfully made a praying gesture, closed his eyes, and began pleading:

"Heavens, soone please save ."

"Just blow up those spirit stone deposits!"

Not far away, Loren, who had been listening intently to their conversation.

After hearing this.

A smile uncontrollably appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Loren got up from his table and walked toward the two guards' location.

"Perhaps I can help you, Mister Guard who wants a vacation."

Loren naturally sat down beside the two guards as he spoke.

The two guards saw Loren's arrival, noticing he wasn't wearing a prison guard uniform but still wore that black trench coat.

"Huh? Who are you? Where's your uniform?"

One of the guards asked warily, looking at the uninvited Loren.

"New arrival today. Officer Will said my uniform won't be issued until tomorrow." Loren said familiarly.

The two guards nodded.

Under the effect of "Fortune," both found Loren's appearance friendly and approachable, plus Loren's familiar attitude.

After hearing Loren's explanation, they let down their guard.

Yeah, confird - he's one of us.

When they first started their jobs, they also didn't get their prison guard uniforms until the second day.

"New guy, how are you going to help get a vacation??"

After confirming he was one of them, the guard continued the previous topic.

"Tell the location of the spirit stone deposit, and I'll blow it up for you."

Loren blinked his eyes, speaking very playfully.

Like a newcor trying to get closer to veteran guards by making harmless jokes.

"Haha, interesting new guy."

"I like your sense of humor."

"It's right beneath us. Go blow it up, the sooner the better. I can hardly wait."

The guard who wanted ti off replied with equal humor.

After hearing the guard's answer, Loren's eyes lit up, and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth again.

Found it.

Loren stood up with a smile.

"Actually, there's another thod that can give you a very long vacation."

After saying this, a black feather appeared in Loren's hand.

"What?" The guard instinctively asked this question.

The black feather in Loren's hand instantly transford into a black and gold revolver.

"Bang!"

Two bullets shot out from the gun barrel.

The two unprepared guards, unable to do anything in ti, collapsed onto the cafeteria floor.

"Death." Loren softly replied with two words.

The raven also reappeared on Loren's shoulder.

As soon as it appeared, it couldn't wait to say:

"I was suffocating! Dear master, I can finally speak."

Loren didn't imdiately respond to the stifled raven.

He was using the revolver to pick off the remaining guards in the cafeteria, one shot after another.

After Loren started shooting, the guards eating in the cafeteria reacted.

They quickly drew their sidearms, hid behind tables, and began counterattacking against Loren.

Loren's figure began flickering around the cafeteria.

The physical fitness and reactions brought by being a fourth stage superhuman.

Allowed Loren to very calmly dodge the bullets coming from all directions.

He even had enough leisure to speak to the raven:

"You can use this ti to go to the counter and sample the human food you've never eaten before."
