....
Migard was no weakling either. She unleashed her ultimate skill and used her shield to forcefully drive back Zinogre's sharp claws.
"Sir Migard, thank you."
Lamia barely managed to struggle to her feet as the paralysis finally wore off.
"Your Highness, we should retreat for now. There's sothing wrong with this monster! We can co back once we're better prepared."
Migard glanced back.
Another permanent five-star support character from the Empire was currently healing the princess's wounds.
However, the princess's injuries were entangled with the Plague Torrent, which slowed even her recovery speed. Her health could only recover little by little instead of being restored instantly.
That was right. This was another trick Carl had taught these monsters.
"Absurd! It is nothing more than a stray dog that has lost its way! The knights under my command can suppress it with ease!"
If anything, Lamia wanted to question Migard instead.
What are you saying?
I'm in the middle of a gacha sales livestream!
If I, the featured character, get chased away by a monster, won't my reputation be ruined?
So the princess absolutely could not retreat here.
Fortunately, her Extraordinary Power was indeed quite strong, and the combat strength of her puppet knights could not be underestimated.
With help from the Hunter Knights, although trading blows with this Arch-Tempered Zinogre was extrely taxing, and although the various Oath systems Lamia had long since grown used to were completely useless against it, they still managed to spend more than ten minutes whittling Zinogre's health down to its final sliver.
"Just a little more, Sir Migard! The monsters sent by those thugs amount to nothing more than this!"
Lamia was just about to celebrate her imminent victory when...
"Huh?"
Carl suddenly heard a burst of powerful music coming from the livestream.
Perhaps out of pity for this hardworking princess, Carl quickly spent about seventy dollars to send a highlighted ssage in her chat.
"Stop fighting! Run! You can still make it if you run now!"
"The prey is already this weak. How could I possibly flee?"
Lamia naturally saw the ssage.
But at that very mont, she also heard a familiar BGM ringing in her ears.
These BGMs were built into the monsters themselves. Players could hear them when a battle reached its climax.
And so BGMs would play the mont a monster appeared.
For example, this one.
Dun dun! Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun! Dun dun dun dun!
"This shadow is..."
Lamia realized sothing was wrong when she saw the shadow looming over the ground.
But it was already too late.
Here cos the invader!
A massive black shadow descended from the sky and crashed straight into the center of the battlefield.
In the next instant, an explosion erupted.
The blast nearly echoed through the entire forest.
Lamia was thrown backward by the massive wall of fire and only stopped after slamming into a tree.
When she opened her eyes, she saw a wyvern covered from head to toe in black scales.
Beneath its head hung tumor-like scales that burned like cannonballs. The wyvern stood on top of the already weakened Zinogre and let out a loud, siren-like cry.
It was one of the monsters Carl least wanted to encounter as an invader during a hunt.
Bazelgeuse.
And this one was a Seething Bazelgeuse.
In Monster Hunter, Bazelgeuse was famous as an invader monster. It had an abnormal fondness for suddenly barging in while hunters were fighting another monster, and the explosive scales covering its body were extrely troubleso for lee players to deal with.
Seething Bazelgeuse was its more dangerous variant. If ordinary Bazelgeuse was like a flying hand grenade, then Seething Bazelgeuse was a whole pile of volatile explosive barrels with wings.
It seed the base monsters from Oath had been quite the feast for these Monster Hunter creatures.
Every monster that entered Oath's territory underwent a kind of super-evolution, gradually approaching the peak of its ecological niche.
These monsters could also continue evolving by devouring the Data Volu of other living beings. It would not even be impossible for them to evolve into Elder Dragon-like creatures.
Naturally, that Seething Bazelgeuse soon turned its gaze toward Lamia.
After all, she looked so plump and juicy.
So weak, yet filled with so much Data Volu.
With a searing breath, or rather, a torrent of fla mixed with explosive saliva, it fired directly at Lamia.
"Your Highness!"
Migard reacted and tried to save Lamia.
Unfortunately, the result was that both of them were sent back to the Imperial Holy Capital, staring at each other in shock.
"The invasion of these strange monsters has been quite severe lately. How about we take a break for now?" Migard suggested after realizing that she had been wiped out as well.
"No. This was just an accident. Migard, organize the equipnt and challenge it with again."
Lamia did not even dare look at the comnts in her livestream now.
As a gacha sales strear, her duty was to demonstrate her overwhelming strength to the players.
But the strength she had just shown was humiliating.
Even after summoning seven or eight knight puppets at once, she had still been wiped out by Arch-Tempered Zinogre and Seething Bazelgeuse in the end.
What kind of sales pitch was this?
A discount-tier character who could not even defeat two high-difficulty monsters?
Migard was also watching the princess's livestream. She saw all kinds of comnts questioning the princess's strength, as well as her own.
"The DPS numbers look impressive, but aren't the base kit's chanics kind of terrible?"
"I think the pilot is just bad, right? Wait, the pilot and the unit are the sa person."
"Looking at it this way, the princess character really does have a lot of flaws."
Migard instantly realized that they had to clear the princess's na as soon as possible.
"I understand."
After that, Migard led the princess back into the forest, along with two other permanent five-star Imperial characters, one Shield Guard and one support.
Perhaps because this team was made entirely of genuine gacha characters, their Data Volu looked like a grand feast in the eyes of the monsters.
A massive number of monsters, in a scene Carl could only describe as hell on earth, had invaded the princess's open world.
Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian, Apex Zinogre, Bloodbath Diablos, Furious Rajang, and more.
Although no Elder Dragons had appeared, every single one of them was a regional boss-level monster.
Then, Carl watched as the princess was tortured to death by one god-tier monster after another in her livestream.
After dying and returning to the city several tis, she stubbornly charged back out.
But before long, the princess was being carted back again and again by these monsters in all kinds of tragic ways.
Finally, after Lamia had died dozens of miserable deaths in front of her livestream audience, she completely broke down.
"What the hell are these monsters?! Their attack speed and hitboxes have no warning at all! Is this really sothing a human can fight?"
"Oath ga designers! Do you understand my suffering?"
When Lamia shouted this, the Oath designers watching the livestream were probably completely bewildered.
We don't!
We didn't design these freaks!
If you want to bla soone, go find a certain Netherworld Village Chief!
However, Carl also wanted to say that these regional boss-level monsters were creatures born from the Plague Torrent that had grown to this stage entirely on their own.
Just as Lamia respawned in the Imperial Holy Capital and was wondering whether she should continue picking fights with those monsters...
A familiar piece of music, one that now filled her with despair, suddenly rang in her ears.
Dun dun! Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun! Dun dun dun dun!
What the hell?
Haven't I already returned to the city?
When Lamia looked up, she saw a burning ball of fire falling toward her from the sky.
It was that Seething Bazelgeuse that had marked her as its target.
As a featured character, the princess had a Data Volu of at least forty thousand.
In the eyes of those monsters, she was absolutely a walking feast.
"Don't co any closer!"
At that mont, her first reaction was no longer the desire to challenge it.
She instinctively wanted to turn and run.
But suddenly, a Flash Bomb burst in the sky.
The descending Seething Bazelgeuse fell straight down.
"This... How can a Flash Bomb affect a monster with such high Data Volu?" Migard's first reaction was disbelief.
However, Carl had poured all the Data Volu of the gacha characters into stacking chanics, so of course it could be affected.
"Your Highness! Are you all right? Hasumi, adjutant of the Dawn Knights, has co to rescue you."
At that mont, Hasumi's gallant voice rang out in front of Princess Lamia.
"It's... Sir Hasumi."
The princess and Hasumi had once been sothing like playmates.
But at this mont, the princess was in no mood to catch up, because the Seething Bazelgeuse blinded by the Flash Bomb had already stood up and let out another ear-piercing siren-like roar.
"That, that monster!"
"No need to worry, Your Highness. Lord Kyo and I have been tracking that Seething Bazelgeuse for a long ti. We won't let it escape this ti."
After helping the princess up, Hasumi spoke a na that left Lamia stunned.
Kyo.
She rembered hearing during Version 1.X that he was one of the powerful Saviors who had to be recruited.
And now, Lamia saw Kyo draw the Tachi from his back.
The blade was shrouded in frosty air.
He slashed directly at Seething Bazelgeuse's tail, severing it and sending the monster rolling several tis across the ground while howling in pain.
Not only that, when Lamia had used her Extraordinary Power to fight Seething Bazelgeuse earlier, it had been like facing a machine that felt no pain and could not flinch. No matter what attack struck it, the monster remained completely unfazed.
But now, the painful wails of this Seething Bazelgeuse made Lamia realize that this wyvern was actually a living creature.
It could feel pain.
It could feel fear.
And perhaps the reason it had co here was not to hunt.
Perhaps it had co here to escape.
"Hasumi, ti . Watch finish it within three and a half minutes!"
Kyo held the Tachi in his hand, and the frost-covered blade reflected the cowering face of Seething Bazelgeuse.
"Of course. The recording has already started, Lord Kyo!"
Hasumi skillfully helped Kyo activate the recording function.
"Recording? Wait! Aren't you going to help? Such a terrifying monster..."
Only then did Lamia realize Hasumi's intention.
She wanted Kyo to duel the Seething Bazelgeuse that had tortured Lamia to death.
"How should I put it? The weapon Lord Kyo uses can only display its full potential in solo combat. With my current skill level, going over there would only get in his way."
Hasumi boasted about her comrade with great pride.
"And Your Highness, please watch closely."
"This is how we hunters fight."
